Neca April O'Neil Variants?

I was on Toy News International and saw this picture.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...scaled_600.jpg
Are there variants of the SDCC figure? Or are these going to be the regular versions?

Toonami Tom 07-18-2009 10:59 AM

I just saw this on toynewsi.com also. I was looking to see if someone posted a topic about it. I'm glad there is a yellow suit variant, as that is the one I would want to buy.

I'm not sure if these green and yellow figures will be at SDCC this year or not. Is the SDCC April in blue? Hopefully someone will have the answers to these questions.

Slap-Happy 07-18-2009 11:03 AM

Yeah, the yellow one brings a smile to my face. But, I hope/wish these are the SDCC versions, The blue should be the regular.

Toonami Tom 07-18-2009 11:07 AM

I want the yellow one because it reminds me of the original toon April, lol. I also hope these are at SDCC (so I can buy one sooner), but if they are, they may cost more money than the regular version. I won't be going to SDCC, so I guess ebay or an online store will be where I buy mine.

Candy Kappa 07-18-2009 02:08 PM

meh I liked the blue better

sdp 07-18-2009 02:58 PM

April looks so ugly in all three colors.

She looks the best in the blue one, then the green I guess....yellow looks the worst.
(maybe its because I've seen her in the blue one for so long already I got used to it, I remember when I first saw that blue I hated it).

The yellow one is too bright, yeah its OT accurate I guess but a duller yellow would have worked perfectly...oh well I'm definitely getting the yellow one.

And yeah they confirmed a while ago Blue would be SDCC exclusive while the regular release would be different colors.

Lordmylar06 07-18-2009 03:10 PM

Seriously, blue was fine, it would be great if they would just hurry up and get to the rest of the line. I have a serious jonesin' for Shredder and those foot ninjas/elites. I gotta start building my foot army!

Tuxedo Moroboshi 07-18-2009 03:31 PM

Personally, I prefer the blue one, but I do like that they made a yellow one (even if the only thing about it that's accurate to the OT is the color, as the rest is still comic accurate).

One thing I would have preferred, though, is that April be wearing normal clothes. She only wore that jumpsuit in her first appearance (because it related to her job at the time), so it would have been nice to have a figure of her wearing the kind of clothing she usually wore.

Candy Kappa 07-18-2009 03:41 PM

yeah a casual April would be better then just a color change

VaughnMichael 07-18-2009 03:42 PM

I was told that the Yellow one is the mass market version.
The blue one is for San Diego Comi-con.
And the Green one is news to me.

It's an easy way for them to profit off of the same mold without having to spend a crap load more money without making new parts.

yeah the colors seem to be off compared to the other colors

Blade Raider 07-18-2009 03:50 PM

Oh sure, April gets a yellow juitsuit, but I can't get simple bandana/fleashtone variants :tgrumble:

That is neat though. To bad I only want the Mousers.

Toonami Tom 07-18-2009 03:52 PM

I'm so used to Playmates canceling action figures, and NECA never released the Shredder/Foot wave, that I wonder if I should buy the SDCC blue clothes April, just so I will have an NECA April.

I prefer to wait for the yellow clothes April, but when is NECA planning on releasing it in stores?

Wes 07-18-2009 05:20 PM

Gahhhhhhhhh I've gotta have that yellow April. THANK YOU, NECA! Here's hoping I'll be able to find it when it's released...

Newton Gimmick 07-18-2009 05:57 PM

Yeah I covered this over at the blog today. Some interesting choices but at least NECA is doing something.

I've heard that there's a chance that the 4 Turtles will be rereleased, so... maybe the possibility of color variations for them exists, as well.

Slap-Happy 07-18-2009 07:38 PM

Why can't they just release series 2? All the figures are finished, correct?

bedbugjones 07-18-2009 08:38 PM

what a waste of paint i thought these were supposed to be comic figures.

NECA SOLD-OUT:x

CyberCubed 07-18-2009 09:16 PM

I'll buy two April's and make them kissing on my shelf as lesbians.

bedbugjones 07-18-2009 10:40 PM

hey you cant talk about april like that:x

its not the turtle way:cry:

That could so happen in Turtles Forever!

Yeah, but they'll probably make them minus the cool stands and all. :ohwell:

I'd still buy them if they were made.

Ninjinister 07-19-2009 01:39 AM

I could see myself getting one of the green if possible, and maybe two of the yellow (for a custom), but I'm going to go with blue for my majority purchase (already have got a guy that's going to try to get me at least three).

sdp 07-19-2009 02:02 AM

The yellow one grew on me already.

I realized what made the figure ugly was not the yellow color but her face and shape of the jumpsuit. Its not the colors fault the figure is ugly :P

I do hope turtle variants w/colored bandanas do appear. I was about to get them today but I just couldn't they are all the same figure! I don't need four raphs! Ironically Raph was the only missing turtle (another factor why I didn't get them). They were also $30 which is another reason I didn't get them.

Is $30 about right for the singles?

I know they're all the same color, but I'm not sure I completely agree with that. Even with all red bandannas, I can't see any of the other three as Raph at all. Maybe I've just become accustomed to those specific facial expressions, but I feel like the different head sculpts do a great job of portraying each Turtle's personality.

At any rate, if we DO end up getting color variations for the four Turtles, I'm hoping the color variation is more than just the bandannas. Like, say, the skin color, the elbow and knee pads, and the wrist straps.

Candy Kappa 07-19-2009 05:18 AM

Four Raphs? It's more like a standard Body, since all four turtles got red bandannas.
and it's easy to tell them apart with different head sculpt, hand sculpt, belt knot and Leo got scabbards.

If there would be multi colored turtles, then they should make new figures altogether then using the comic turtles

Then they wouldn't be variants, they'd be new figures. :P

If they were to make new figures, I'd rather they do other characters than characters they've already done.

Slap-Happy 07-20-2009 03:38 AM

The should make Eric Talbot or Jim Lawson turtles.

Toonami Tom 07-20-2009 06:57 AM

I think NECA should step outside of comics for a wave or two and give us some nicely sculpted, super articulated 2k3 Toon turtles, Shredder, Karai, and Agent Bishop.

They haven't even really given us a wave 2 yet. I say stick with the original comic characters. We already have figures of the 2k3 characters.

I'm not sure how well I'd take to Jim Lawson Turtles, personally. Though that's just my own personal preference.

From the looks of these Turtles (and what I've been able to gather from the two creators' art over the years)... they seem to be Peter Laird Turtles. I wouldn't mind seeing some Kevin Eastman Turtles!

You say that as if they've released a ton of figures already, when all that we've gotten so far is just the four Turtles. They're just now barely going to release April, and who knows when we're getting the other three figures from Wave 2. I say they should stick to the comics. Nobody else has ever done them before.

Topsu 07-22-2009 02:39 AM

And these are now on preorder on BigBadToystore. I still think blue should be regular tho...Oh well, at least we're getting them, maybe :D

Green suit
Yellow suit
Both suits

odupianist 07-22-2009 07:54 AM

That's disappointing if they've dropped the blue suit. It looked more natural.

I'm pretty sure the blue suit is still on track for the SDCC exclusive. It's just sad that that isn't the default retail version.

In package picture. I hope I can get my hands on this one. I prefer it over the yellow and green ones.

Lookin' nice. I especially like the 25th anniversary logo.

Here's how the variants look. I don't like this, I'm already tempted to snatch these ones up too. I really don't need that many Aprils...

bedbugjones 07-23-2009 02:32 PM

wait since when is is the blue one not the regular version?
