So what got cut from the CW airing?
I apologize if this thread seems redundant, but I really would like to know what scenes got cut from today's CW airing of Turtles Forever. I believe the film totals about 77 minutes based on the audio file Rose posted from the San Diego Comic Con premiere. With the commercial breaks of the TV airing factored in, I estimate that the cut version totaled at about 66 minutes. Thus, there were almost 12 minutes of footage edited out.
Any thoughts? |
They took out the shower scene probably.
|
I know there was a part before Hun raided the lair where Splinter jumped his boys for being jerks to the OT crew, this was even mentioned later in OT land.
And I hear Shredder said something about not caring if he dies during the big final battle. Aaaaand, Mikey saying "Thar she blows, dude" was cut (I think), but was shown in commercials. |

I think I know a couple of bits that didn't make the cut. This animatic missed the cut: And the scene from the preview trailer where OT Mikey forces the mutant into the fire hydrant and says "thar she blows, dude!" To which NT Mikey replies, "I crack me up!" |
Well, after I finished eliminating commercials, it came to 68:40 of footage. That means the San Diego audience got an additional 8:20 of action. Karai's explanation of having a GPS on daddy was also cut. And, unless I conveniently missed it twice, Tokka & Rahzar's droppin' out of the sky like commando's was also missing. To be honest, I don't recognize the scene of Raph pointing out the '88 Turtles belt buckles to the 1984 Turtles. So, that one was new to me, I think.

Did Rahzar and Tokka get more screentime in the uncut version? Seems odd for them to be on all the posters yet they got literally 20 seconds of screentime in the movie.
|
Why did they cut anything out? Most episodes are around 20 minutes long they could've milked it for more commercials and have it 2 hours long and have 19:25 per half hour.

Doesn't really matter.
Hopefully Viacom gets this out on DVD soon so we can watch it uncut. |

So, I'm basically under the impression this movie should have lasted A LOT longer. |
I'm pretty sure TMNT4kids said 12 minutes was cut.

Man, I hate when that stuff happens. I remember when I bought the movie version of "Gargoyles: Awakening" on VHS it had cuts all over it. I always scratched my head as to why the episodic version had more footage than the video release. Usually its the other way around.

It is a shame that the film was cut solely because they didn't wanna skip out on too many of their crappy programs. Honestly the only thing I would have even watched on there besides the movie is Yugioh 5ds, and they pretty much stopped showing that
|
Yeah, should of had it air from 10-12 so that they can have the whole thing and keep the ads. Oh well. We'll see the uncut version next month.
|
There was one part where they were coming to or from commercials, and I remember a turtle slapping another turtle a la The 3 Stooges. I don't remember seeing it during the special.

Here's a helpful youtube channel that cuts the audio file into short clips so you can hear what got left out:

I heard that they were going to show the uncut version on the cw4kids website sometime in December.

I had actually called the 12 mins being cut before I saw that TMNT4Kids had stated 12 mins had been cut. I knew the original run time had been 81 mins. When they said the airing was only 68 mins, I just did elementary math. I'm really rather stoked that the film is being shown in its entirety on the website, but it kills me because out in the country, we don't get good enough satellite signal to upload movies. SUCKS... |
Is there at least more stuff with the B&W TMNT? It'd be nice if they had more screentime that wasn't used.
|
Oh, I keep forgetting to post it, but I remembered a day or two ago that April flew the Turtlecopter in San Diego. That scene was missing.

I really wished we knew where this will end up in terms of a DVD release.
I would like to not only see it uncut, but I would also like to know that I don't only own it on VHS which it is hard to find VCR's these days with DVD being so prominent. We really shouldn't get our hopes up that Viacom/Nick will finish releasing this. They aren't obligated to, and why would they want to, when they are focusing so much attention on the new show in 2012? |
Was the episode version un-edited?
|
Contradiction in terms... But, no. For a 77 minute story divided into three episodes, that leaves little to no time for commercials. If you meant something different, reword your question. I'll be happy to look into it.

is there a possible dvd release due?
