What was your first tmnt item?
Note: I posted this on the general forums because your first item could be a dvd, a video game, a toy, or a comic.
What was your 1st TMNT item? Mine was the 1990 1st live action dvd. Edit: Sorry, if your first item was a VHS, you can vote for TMNT DVD. Sorry prescribeddrone!! |
Either a toy or the first movie on VHS.
I little while after I got my NES, my dad took me to the video game store and we got all 3 TMNT games used... awesome day :tsmile:
My brother had the Ninja Turtles toys back in the OT era. But the first TMNT goodie that I bought for myself was probably a comic book. Either that, or the 2k3 DVDs. I am not completely sure.
The OT Mikey figure, for my birthday I think. That was great, I still have it. I remember I painted pupils on his eyes to make him look like in the cartoons. That's probably the only custom I've made in my life, and it didn't come out very well!
My first TMNT item was a TMNT Adventures comic....I don't remember which one... I think it might have been #3....
Man,posts like this make me feel like an old timer. I believe my first TMNT ANYTHING was an issue of the Mirage Comic...I think Issue..7 or 13...it was the one where Splinter switched bodies with the old man who wanted the TMNT to get his grandson to accept his ninja legacy. I was instantly hooked and tracked down as many back issues as I could. I remember seeing an ad in one of the Mirage comics for the upcoming toys and waiting on those to be released...my grandpa bought me the whole set when we found them at Toys R Us.
I voted as the "Everything Else" option. Ha ha, I can't believe I really did it, but I bought a full size TMNT (2007) poster with frame. Cost about $50 for everything, but it still makes me smile every time I look at it...
For my birthday - I mighta been, like, five - I got a Raphael action figure, a Bebop action figure, and the Footski. Good times, good times...
My first TMNT item was a video tape my grandma recorded for me and my brothers that had a bunch of episodes of the OT on it and the 2nd movie.
My second item was the first NES game that my dad brought home. |
Videotape
I voted for TMNT DVD, but it was a videotape back in 1991. It was long before DVD (only videotapes and laserdiscs were around).
Turtle toy. Got Leonardo from 88 line when I was a kid
I remember getting Raphael and Michaelangelo for Christmas in 1988!
Leo, Don and Splinter for my birthday!! Still have the picture of me playing with them the day I got them..
Before the internet, around 1990 or 1991 this was my gateway to knowledge beyond the movie/cartoon/Archie
http://i45.tinypic.com/2e31ylk.jpg Anybody else own this? |
As far as I can remember, a comic was the first thing I had. It was the Archie's Adventures mini-series and I had the whole comics in the 4 part series with a cassette (yeah you heard me a cassette ) that followed along with the comic. It was pretty cool.
I think mine was the Metalhead figure. Either that or one of those BK VHS tapes that had back in the day. I'm not sure, that might've been later.
My first collectible after de VHS tape movie I, was a plastic TMNT key-ring....:D ....
My first TMNT item was an action figure. The first one I remember is storage shell Raph (there could have been others before that figure, but I think Raph was first).
I think mine was Splinter & Rocksteady toys OR I could be wrong, it could of been cards. It was 20 years ago so I cant remember 100%
First things I got were Leo and Raph the original soft head turtles my aunt picked them up for me on a trip to the US as we didn't have them in Canada yet.

I voted Turtle DVD because VHS wasn't an option.
Oh those times before DVD existed.... |
Well....I voted for "anything else" ...because I believed that a VHS tape belongs to this group/option...
I still have a turtles pillow case from my beadspread as a child. It's the only thing I have left from those years.

Yeah, I always wanted a bunch of those toys as a kid. I did have a bunch, but not all of the mutants.
But the thing I miss the most is my Jim Lee Raph. I had that figure in 1995 or 96' and I held onto it way in around 2003 or 2004- way past my collecting days as a teen at the time being (which was during a depression stage when I tried to do other things besides be into 'geeky' thing due to guilt but thankfully it didn't work because I got back into comics in 2007 and I had dreams about buying toys after that and low and behold- I started getting random collectibles again) but yeah, I loved that figure and it got lost when they were remodeling my parents apartment in 2003 or 2004. |

Aahh.. Remember my first figure, was the "Mutagen Man", along with Splinter. Later on, my first vehicle was the Mutant Drill Module. Gee, good memories with totally worn-out TMNT catalogs.. and pictures of vehicles and figures on the wall beside my bed.
I got all four turtles, Splinter, a foot ninja, Shredder, Krand, the Turtle van, Blimp and sewer play set all on my seventh Christmas. It was freaking awesome.
The first item I can remember getting was a Leo the Sewer Samurai action figure from a Hills department store.
I also remember my sister buying me Storage Shell Don from the Kay-Bee toy's in the local mall. Since those were both '90, one of them has to be the first, I would have been about a year old. |
I got into TMNT late (but I bought some of the OT DVD's and watched some of them) so I got TMNT 2 :BattleNexus for PS2. Then after that I got the first one and the third one.
I got Whacky Action Raphael from my grandma on Christmas 89, and my aunt bought me the hot rodding teenagers from dimension x video tape, and the next day my other grandmother gave me metalhead for Christmas
I have the Whacky Action Raphael up on display in my house:) |
First toy was the Turtlecycle because my mom liked it and got it as a surprise, my first figure was Michelangelo! :D

I would have to say the cassette of Coming Out of Their Shells.
Didn't get my first action figure until 1998 when I saw NT; TNM's Mikey & Raph for half price @ a KB in Dallas. |
I got a wacky Action Mikey, then Headdroppin Don, then Life Gaurd Leo, then Mutatin' Raph, Mutatin' SHredder and Bebop and Rocksteady.
Compact Cassette or videotape?

It was an original soft head Michelangelo in 1987 o4 '88. I got it for Christmas at our school Christmas party. Our parents were supposed to buy as a present and "Santa" was going to deliver them at school.
It just so happened that the only Turtle figure my mother could find was my favorite character. From there, I built quite a collection. |
