Which TMNT season was the WORST??

(Sorry if this topic has already been posted)

Place a comment and give your opinion :)

Personally, besides the dreaded FF (Fast Forward) season, I think season five of 2k3 was one of the worst ever.

Scandia 12-11-2009 10:41 AM

OT- season 5

NT- season 4 since they prolonged Leo's agony waaaaaaay too much :(

ToTheNines 12-11-2009 10:45 AM

Season 5 for both.

I liked all the OT seasons, but for season five we lost alot of the old background music, Townsend tweaked Michaelangelo's voice, plots got even dumber... But at least it improved afterwards.

I hate NT season 5, it's just plain dumb. As awful as season 7 was, we still got to see cool stuff (Stockman-Shredder, Foot Turtles, real combat, etc.).

ryukenden 12-11-2009 12:26 PM

Fast Forward was really down there when it comes to the NT.

For OT, Season 5 and Donny breaking his bo all the time I disliked seeing all the time. I never liked Mikey trading his nunchaku for a grappling hook.

CyberCubed 12-11-2009 03:31 PM

For the old toon, it was the European Vacation eps. Season 5 had some decent eps.

For the new toon, probably some of the worse FF or BTTS episodes, but there are still good episodes in both.

Icebot 12-11-2009 05:16 PM

Old toon: Season 9 since Shredder and Krang weren't in it at all.

New toon: Fast Forward since it doesn't take place in the right time period for the turtles, too many new villains at one time.

The Deadman 12-11-2009 10:51 PM

the **** that comes on the WB...i liked the older turtle seasons

ohh and Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation

Spitfire 12-12-2009 11:29 PM

The European Vacation episodes are hands down some of the worst the series has to offer. Season 7 as a whole however is great so I can't hate the whole season just for that. Season 3 had some **** episodes but it was so long I can't blame them.

All in all BTTS is the worst season of any turtles toon. It has barely any redeeming qualities.

Dejablue 12-13-2009 01:23 AM

You hate BTTS more than Fast Forward? Interesting. Please explain.

gobo 12-13-2009 01:44 AM

classic 'toon: I count all syndicated eps beyond Season 3 as Syndicated Season 4. Those are the ones that make me want to tear my eyes out. "TURTLES OF THE JUNGLE", "PLAN SIX FROM OUTER SPACE", Hokum Hare... all make me sick.

4Kids: TMNT: Back to the Sewer...

He liked Fast Forward better than a lot of what came before it. I didn't appreciate it that much, but it's less boring than BttS. BttS was a season full of sloppily thrown together, mildly-amusing eps with low replay value. Neat concepts, but poor execution.

Dejablue 12-13-2009 02:38 AM

Heh yeah I can see what you're talking about. None of the baddies seemed to be on their game. The plot felt half thought out. And I think it was because the villain should not have been the Shredder in any way shape or form.

They could have used someone else. There are many other enemies to use in the Turtleverse. Heck they could have made up a bad guy. I don't care. After nearly 6 seasons of Shredder being the main villain and dying and resurrecting so many times even someone as serious and threatening as he is will start to wear on you and make you groan. Its just like..Dude...DIE PLEASE!

I would have accepted it if Viral had remained the bad guy I mean she's a cyber virus monster from the FUTURE. She could have done some damage. Made some alliances. Wrecked some havoc to a (in her eyes) very primitive Earth. But nooo she had "die" and they had to bring back ol Bucket head again! Arg even I'm tired of looking at him.

The last episode should have been touching. But I think it just insults most people. I guess the magic of Casey and April's wedding made all the bad guys want to never hurt them ever again or something.

FF did a lot of things BTTS didn't. For one it had some fresh ideas. BTTS just tried to milk 2K3 some more but failed to do so by making it even more kiddie. Sure FF wasn't super serious either but the tones of the stories were a lot more mature then those in BTTS. I also liked the mix, it felt like the new toon mixed with the old toon. Some people hate that but it worked well for me.

I also enjoyed the villains. I'm a mad season 2 never made it to air. They had some great ideas planned. It took time to grow on me but once it did I liked it a lot.

Being a comic purist makes me dislike a good portion of the earlier 2K3 episodes. I liked the new stories best and FF had all new ones.

ryukenden 12-13-2009 04:10 AM

The animation in BTTS for me really looked out of place. For some reason I did not like the Turtles having pupils since I was so used to seeing them without them throughout the series. At least they looked exactly as they have been known for in Turtles Forever.

European vacation was definitely my least favorite as well. The Next Mutation made the OT Turtles look like the Mirage Turtles.

Rat King just wanted some cake....

And well, Turtles Forever prooved that Hun and the Dragons were still out committing crimes anyway. I'm sure he still had a few fights left with the Turtles even after the wedding.

Fred Wolf cartoon: Season 2, Season 4, "European Vacation"

Season 2 contains terrible animation and a wildly inconsistant tone. Also, thirteen episodes of Shredder in a row is tiring. Season 4 is a mess, forty-some episodes long and maybe five or six of the lot are enjoyable. The "European Vacation" episodes emobody every fault the show ever had, with recycled plots and wet towel jokes.

4Kids cartoon: Season 7/Back to the Sewer. The worst animation of the series, ludicrous plots even for a kids' show, took itself far too seriously, and again, the villain becomes incredibly boring.

Season 5 takes a close second for all the same reasons, and also has the dubious distinction of having the second worst run of animation on the show.

Dejablue 12-13-2009 05:42 PM

season 5 of 2k3 kinda felt alienating to me with the whole mystical powers of the ancient Japanese gods thing...

prescribeddrone 12-13-2009 06:01 PM

I liked all 7 seasons on NT, but BTTS is the 'worst' of it, I agree. The pupils were a big meh as well.

As for OT, I'm not sure. I haven't watched the seasons in years. Probably the season that's the most goofy, as I prefer the red sky era.

ToTheNines 12-13-2009 07:05 PM

"Ninja Tribunal" is worse than BttS because none of the episodes actually standout, it was one big clump of sh*t.

holy_guacamole 12-16-2009 12:56 PM

Season three of the old cartoon for sure. Also, the European Vacation section of season seven. I don't even think I have to explain why those two are the worst, even though season three had some great episodes, the majority of them were just plain horrid.

As for the new cartoon, who cares? As far as I can tell, every season is the same--every episode is the same: twenty minutes of fighting and over the top action, Michelangelo screaming like a girl, someone saying, "What the shell?" every five seconds--it's too repetitive and too much. I can watch a disc of the old cartoon no problem. I can only handle a few episodes of the new cartoon before I get bored.

I agree that the good eps of classic 'toon Season 3 were few and far between, but I find it impossible to deny that "USAGI YOJIMBO" was one of if not THE best.

CyberCubed 12-16-2009 04:12 PM

Old toon Season 3 had continuous good and clever eps. By Season 4 it got a bit repetitive due to 40 eps in one season and basically repeating Season 3, but it had a number of good eps halfway through the season.

Season 1 = Excellent
Season 2 = Good
Season 3 = Great
Season 4 = Half good/half duds
Season 5 = Average, lack of fighting
Season 6 = Great
Season 7 = Great
Season 8 = Great
Season 9 = Average
Season 10 = Good
Europe eps = Bad

Nope. I'm just someone who's sat through "The Mutagen Monster", "Turtles at the Earth's Core", "April Fool", "Attack of the Big MACC", "Camera Bugged," "The Turtle Terminator", "Thr Grybyx", "Mr. Ogg Comes to Town", and "The Big Blow Out."

Season three is hit or miss. The episodes are either great or total s**t and the total s**t far outnumbers the great ones.

I liked all those episodes except the Ogg one (simply because the character was annoying), and the Turtle Terminator was just ruined by Raph's alternate voice.

Raph's alternate voice was the worst. I mean, they were all distracting, but his was like nails on a chalkboard.

I actually love a few of those episodes. But, season four was the same as far as hit or miss goes, with the good ones certainly not comparing to season 3's gold. And 5 was mostly lame.

That episode was ruined by alot more than just Raph's voice...

Yeah, I seem to remember them using a lot of still images rather than actual animation.

Yeah the animation in that ep was bad, but I found Irma stepping on Bebop and Shredder's feet and causing them to jump in pain to be hilarious. Its episodes like that which prove how goofy Shredder really was in some episodes.

Wait wait wait... Are you sure you mean "The Big Blow Out"? I hate "The Big Ripoff" (can't even stay awake for ten mintues), but "Blow Out" was awesome.

I don't know...the whole "Big..." series and "Plan 6 From Outer Space" kind of all blended together.

CyberCubed 12-17-2009 11:52 AM

Honestly, did you like the old toon at all? By that shows standards, those were pretty good eps.

The original cartoon is just good fun where you can turn your brain off and enjoy crazy plots. Its not meant to be taken seriously.

Blade Raider 12-17-2009 12:15 PM

OT: European Vacations. I cringe every time I hear that replacement Raph.

NT: Back to the Sewer. I never ever want to see half of these episodes agian.

Overall: Probably still Next Mutation. It was just so sloopy that I could tell even when I was a kid. It feelt like a poor man's Mystic Knights (which was a poor man's Power Rangers). Please tell me someone remembers that show?

I loved the old toon: I liked every episode in season one ("The Shredder is Splintered", being my favorite), I liked most of season two (I could do without "New York's Shiniest"), but when it comes to season three, I liked a handful of them and disliked a handful. Same with season four. Season seven, with the exception of the European Vacation series, was excellent.

Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, I think it was called. I loved it lol

I gotta be honest. I barely remember European Vacation. So what replacement Raph? Like a replacement voice actor?

EDIT: Oh wait nevermind. I found out for myself. So apparently Rob Paulson and Avery weren't around.

Well anyway. I'm curious. How many of you are willing to pick out the worst EPISODE in the entire Old Toon? And maybe the Worst episode of the New Toon as well. That includes Fast Forward and BTTS of course.

And on a random note these two videos *well there were 3 but one of them got taken down* amuse me. I wonder if someone on this forum made em.

season five and FF of the 4KIDS series I hate the most.

this might get me trouble but I wasn't so big on 80's toon season seven. Every one kept building it up but didn't seem much different than the ushual fare. But I have to say season five of the 80's series.

I don't see why that would get you in trouble. The rule is "no old cartoon bashing." Simply saying you disliked something doesn't really qualify as bashing it.

When I watched a few of them on youtube before the DVD's came out, I was crazy about it. Then I hyped them up and didn't really care for them once they came out. But then my second viewing I wasn't expecting much and I loved them again lol

Say what you will about it, but "Ninja Tribunal" gave a fitting conclusion to the series and was clearly written to be an ending to the show rather than just another season. It felt more like an extended mini-series to me with a focused epic central plot. After I saw it, I honestly felt like they wouldn't be able to top it.

And I was right. "Fast Forward" was absolute garbage. It didn't even feel like the same series and the same characters to me. It felt like the TMNT in FF were caricatures of the TMNT in the 2K3 series up to that point. BttS was a little better, in my opinion, but it was still pretty lame because of the whole flavor-of-the-week cybernaut silliness.

I consider "Ninja Tribunal" to be the end of the 2K3 series. FF and BttS were just attempts to drain as much coin from the franchise and sell as many toys as possible, as far as I'm concerned.

ToTheNines 12-18-2009 10:31 AM

There was that one movie though... we used to call it Turtles Forever.
