Ridiculous moments

Remember all the arguing in the Turtles Forever thread over the portrayl of the OT characters? While I think it was just a tad over-board, they weren't far off. Anyways, through out the thread, no one actually cited any examples from the OT. So here we are.

NOTE: This isn't an OT bashing thread, we all know the show was ridiculous (in a good way).

Example of OT turtles: in "Casey Jones, Outlaw Hero" Raphael drives right into a pond simply because Donatello told him to go straight.

Now I'm not saying the NT was totally realistic, but if the NT turtles were there for that, they woulda been like "WTF?". So call Turtles Forever "mean spirited" all you want, I think it accurately shows how the two universes collide.

More examples are welcome :)

Candy Kappa 02-05-2010 10:54 AM

Casey not taking his mask of going undercover in OT was a rather wtf moment

CyberCubed 02-05-2010 10:55 AM

The Turtles become inflated into balloon-like floats in one episode, and Splinter saves them with moth balls. Don asks, "How did you save us with moth balls?" Splinter says something like, "The story called for it."

April deactivates the master computer in one of the Season 2 episodes simply by pulling out the plug in the wall.

One of the gangster episodes had a device that only attracts old antiques.

The old toon was filled with ridiculous moments, but that's why I enjoyed it. The show had a, "this is so bad its good" type of mentality to it. The writers knew they were doing crazy stuff but they didn't care because they were having too much fun.

plastroncafe 02-05-2010 10:57 AM

I think my favorite episodes of the OT were the ones where the turtles themselves were the straight men to the lunacy.

Case in point: "The Cufflink Caper"

Don: "It's a zamboni machine!"
Mike: "No way dude, it's that thing that smooths out the ice!"
Don: "A zamboni machine is the thing that smooths out the ice."
Raph: "Can we argue about this later boys? We're about to become turtle pancakes."

The mobsters are Babyface "the Beaver" Clever and his brother Wally.
They're going after exploding cufflinks.
There's talk about French Provincial architecture.

The whole episode is just...nuts. And I love every second of it.

Scandia 02-05-2010 08:45 PM

Casey not taking off his mask when he infiltrated the Octopus corporation.

CyberCubed 02-05-2010 09:04 PM

There's one ep where Shredder calls Krang on the communicator, and Krang (inside his android body), is dripping wet and he has a towel around his waist. Krang says, "You just interrupted my bath."

Why the hell would Krang take a bath WITH his robot body?

God I love the old toon sometimes.

Candy Kappa 02-06-2010 05:57 AM

Not OT but in the 2 episode toy commercial Anime. Shredder calls Krang a squid and threatens to eat him, and the Foot soldier vacation was a ridiculous moment

.. wait the whole thing was a ridiculous moment :D

Not only that, but they "reintroduced" Big Louie in that episode when it was his head thug in Act 1 that had been seen before as The Butcher in the "Maltese Hamster" (mentioned above).

I loved both episodes!!

"La la la! I have a date! I can't be late!"

Anything and everything featuring Howie.

Plan 6 from Dimension X.

Bebop just picks up a regular phone in the Channel 6 building and says 'Get me Dimension X!" and bam, the Technodrome in Dimension X has its phone ringing. LMAO.

Props to that operator for knowing Dimension X's area code.

ToTheNines 02-06-2010 08:24 PM

Loose transcription from "Invasion of the Turtle Snatchers"

*buncha bull sh*t about Don getting abducted*
Splinter: Yes... I have sensed an alien presence lately
April: This will make a great story!
Splinter: Donatello!? With Aliens!? This sounds serious!

Coola Yagami 02-06-2010 10:44 PM

Yeah, that sounded weird. Like I dunno... the way Splinter said it. Did he think the aleins would force Don to make evil inventions for em, or did he think Don would pass out from overexcitement of seeing all that advanced alien technology?

***First of Two Latin Kings*** 02-06-2010 10:57 PM

Maybe he was worried that Donatello would be seduced by the dark side...

Sage Ninja 02-07-2010 11:53 AM

It's "Plan 6 from Outer Space".

Like I said, I love the OT for how ridiculous it is... but this one's just plain stupid: The ending of the first Lotus episode, she "disguises" her self as a pizza delivery boy and walks right into the guys lair, they don't even flinch!

doomiscool 02-08-2010 11:39 AM

In the episode "Donatello Makes Time", that nutty professor claims he was forced to go floating through the sewers...but he then goes to a house he apparently had.

Not to mention the fact he stumbles across the turtles lair and is just all "Oh look, a time stopper!" as if it's an everyday occurrence, when he clearly only just walked up and couldn't have seen it in action :P

CyberCubed 02-08-2010 01:08 PM

The fact that old toon Don was intelligent enough to create a device that stops time says a lot in itself.

And a dimensional portal in season 3? Did he steal equipment from the Technodrome, or maybe used equipment from that Star Cruiser the Neutrinos left on the Earth back in season 1.

Coola Yagami 02-09-2010 07:54 AM

Which factors in Turtles Forever when he turned a flashlight into a dimensional portal stick. LOL

NameGoesHere1066 02-09-2010 02:01 PM

oh, I know! I know! How about the fact that April and all the human characters wear the same clothes ALL THE TIME and no one says anything or cares!!!!!! :o :o

That's quite possibly my second favorite part of that movie. Just behind Turtles Prime and tied with the fact that you have to hit the portal stick before it'll work.

Um... dude.... ALL cartoons do that....

ToTheNines 02-09-2010 07:06 PM

I'm pretty sure she was just mocking this thread. I haven't seen her post a whole lot lately, but she seems to have it in for me lol

The Stryker 02-09-2010 07:09 PM

Please, get over yourself.

The original toon was loaded with crazy sh*t and that's why I love it.

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Read my first post... the point of this thread is prove that the OT was pretty much portrayed acurately in Turltes Forever. I love the crazy sh*t in the OT aswell, I actually said it myself in this very thread.

I never said anything about you hating the OT? Sooo....what are you getting at?

ToTheNines 02-09-2010 07:25 PM

You told me to get over myself...

I guess you were talking about that other thing I said (which ended with an "lol", which implies joking). But she did bite my head off in another thread for no reason, I even quoted you and she still thought I was talking to her.

I think the poster in question was just making fun of the fact that cartoon character wear the same clothes all the time. Not mocking you ToTheNines. :twink:

as for the thing in the Lotus Blossum episode. I'm guessing that was a storyboard mistake, and the turtles where supposed to be outside or something rather than in the lair.

So uh, how about you actually contribute to the thread and cite an example.

No, it was the lair. Earlier in the ep Lotus discovers their secret lair, and at the end we see her climb out of the manhole cover.

The Turtles just for some reason didn't think twice of some "pizza delivery" person coming into their lair. Its just amusing.

mikey22 02-10-2010 11:51 AM

WHEN THEY GO BUY MOVIE TICKETS IN SEASON 2 lol

I just said the entire show.

Jesus, what crawled up your ass?

ToTheNines 02-10-2010 04:27 PM

I was just wondering if you had a favorite moment in particular.

Mona_Lisa 02-11-2010 08:22 AM

I Love the OT dearly, but I hate all the episodes with Howie, Irma’s boyfriend in them. I think its eposodes 75 and 77 in season 4. They took stupid to a whole new level. :tconfuse:

ToTheNines 02-11-2010 09:06 AM

I actually really liked his first episode. It was pretty funny and had a sweet Donatello vs. Shredder fight.

His second appearance was trash though.

General Traag 02-16-2010 04:00 PM

I allways liked the street filled with ninja stores. Ninja dry cleaners, lol.

Candy Kappa 02-16-2010 06:23 PM

It's more of a error but the mix up with shredders family name

Same episode, april manages to prevent the world from being destroyed by a giant atomic bomb-like 'toy' that the alien child had.

How?

Simply, 'every toy has batteries'. First of all, out of everyone there, april is the one to crawl beneath a devestating device like that? The only one without balls (technical/gross gender joke & metaphor) is the one to do it...

Is it me or does dirk savage remind anyone else of nick fury?

Who would believe those 'human masks' the guys wear? LMFAO those get me every time.
