Fan club & 2k3 introduction mini comics
Since these can't be purchased or really found even I though I'd scan em so everyone can enjoy! I would imagine alot of people havent seen the 2k3 comic... At my local TRU in 03 or 02 they were giving away foxboxes with sticker sheets, & comics and all this cool stuff promoting the kirby show & tmnt etc.
Heres 2k3; I think Dooney did it. http://i50.tinypic.com/2u47ytf.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/2igiqsw.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/a4u61j.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/scg7cn.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/2iaeu80.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/2u8kr40.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/htwttu.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/116ua6o.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/2cesn42.jpg |

Yeah in the 2k3 they look to be Dooney's work. Awesome. Who did the interior art for the Fan club comic?
|
I'm not sure, it doesn't say. Its reminiscent of eastman somewhat. Only thing I am sure of is that this was the same person who drew the origin panel on the backboards of the 88 toys.
|
Heh. Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. Love those obscure comics.

I want them both sooo bad.
Got a thing for these random mini comics at the mo. Just got a 'Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer' mini comic the other day - its nuts. Story's a bit crap, but the art is by Dan Berger (uncredited - but it looks very 'Berger' to me) and is pretty great. Anyone know if there were any more of these? It just ends with "The Quest Continues", but I dunno if there were more issues, or if the kids who got the toys had to continue it themselves... |
You should scan it if possible!
|
Thanks Powder, this is a great share!

What about those minicomics that came packaged with the Ninja Turtles Cereal as prizes?
Anybody have any of those? I've always been a tad curious about them. |

Cheers for the info, CJJ!
And now: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img001.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img002.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img003.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img004.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img005.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img006.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...kie/img007.jpg My word, that first one is BIG! I've got no idea how it got so big compared to the rest. And I dunno how to downsize. Sorry. |
Thanks for all the scans: these are really great! I never knew about that 2K3 comic, I would love to buy that one. I have some mini comic doubles that came with the cereal if anyone would like to trade.

Thanks discordia! I'm gonna scan the jim lee comic realllly soon. We might as well make this one big mini comic thread eh? If anyone wants to scan the cereal comics, it'd be appreciated! Maybe a mod would change the title to 'Obscure mini-comic scans'?

Don't forget the comic that came with TMNT: Smash Up for Wii.
Jim Lawson did a short comic that came with the game. |
I have the cereal mini comics: I'll scan them in Wednesday (they are at my parents house). I have a lot of those obsure mini-comics: I'll see what I have and if it's not scanned in yet I'll post them here.

It was Jesus.

I just wish I knew who it was (its obvious from the start its no one official) cause I've always thought the early box art was one of the sickest renditions of the turtles, albeit a little cheesey perhaps... Really though, I'd commision the guy.

Nevermind--found my conversation with Dan!!! CJJ: I was wondering if you remember the mini-comic you did for the "Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer" line of figures that Playmates did back in the day. Dan B: Yup - I've got a copy of it in my office somewhere. Are you looking for specific info about it? CJJ: Did you just do one comic for Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer? The story doesn't have an ending, does it? Dan B: Yes. There were supposed to be more mini-comics, but Playmates decided not to do them because the line didn't sell well enough to justify the expense. So there you have it, Vaughn...I rarely state facts I can't back up in one form or another. |

There also had been plans for more Star Trek and universal monsters but they never got made either, nothing new for Playmates. |
I inferred from my conversation with Dan that HAD the first four sold better, the line would have been continued and the second part of the saga would have come with the next wave (Knight Mike, Spell-Caster Splinter, and Savage Leo with WarCat/BattleCat). I don't know why you aren't inferring that, it seems like common sense but oh well everyone is entitled to their own interpretation I guess.

I have that last one too, it was published as part of the "Mirage Mini Comics" series, I have the complete set. They came in a little box thing. |
Dude where is the storm drain thing from? I have it somewhere...
