The many faces of...
http://www.doubledare.tv/tmntfaces.jpg
Lost some quality when I converted to JPG...I apologize for that, but I thought you guys would enjoy this. All pics are hi-res from my collection. Please don't post this anywhere else. Josh |
You can certainly see that even the suits in the sequels were designed kids in mind.
|
And the TMNT 3 ones by the All Effects Company were just plain awful. Two thumbs up to Hensen's though.
Josh |
Reasons why the first TMNT movie was the best. And will remain the best.
|
OMG! I've never put all the pictures side by side! The third ones, I knew were bad, but in Raphs words "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!" They are horrible! I have the semsation of vomit in my throat...
|
the ones from part three aren't that bad...although they're easily the least of the costumes. did Splinter's ear grow back in the sequels?
|
The ones from part one look definitely more serious than the others.
|
Ngggaaaaahhh! Those third movie pics are AWFUL!!! Yeesh...poor Splinter looks part cat in the third, Ocsar-the-grouchish in the second, and the guys looked like they were sniffing glue in the second and sick in the third!
I love the original movie's pics... :D *hugs The loveable mutants* |
The second movie turtles eyes are a lot bigger, and the realistic detail are lost. And they really screwed up Leo and Donnie's heads. ESPECIALLY Donnie. I also didn't like Don's voice in the second. Corey Feldman shoulda been in it instead, the second one was too annoying.
|
Feldman was in rehab, that's why they got Adam Carl. Also, if you notice, when he returns in part three, for the first half of the movie, he's not really in the character at all.

I can tell the Costumes are different. And the Splinter puppet x3. The Charaters may of been played by different actors but at least it's free for all. The one who act in the Raphel part in TMNT 2 was the same Actor for Raphel in TMNT 1. TMNT 3 Raphel was played by Matt Hill my favorite actor.
|
I always new the third costumes were horrible but when u set them side by side with the others. It makes you want to shot somebody. The first costumes rock.
|
J Legault, I'm sorry but you're wrong. TMNT 1 was Josh Pais (who also was the actor inside Raph's suit), TMNT 2 Raph was Laurie Faso (NOT the same person as TMNT 1 Raph) and TMNT 3 Raph was Tim Kelleher. Sorry to burst your bubble, dude.
Josh |
And on a side note, Robbie Rist rules.

That's absolutely right. Namely, it was the usage of the weapons. That's why Don played with a foam bat and Mikey played with a yo-yo. The thing that parents didn't realize is that no matter if the turtles were stealth ninjas who flung stars into peoples eye sockets, or Jehovahs Witnesses, their kids would still play with that really cool stick on the playground that looks like a sword through their eyes.
Josh |
Parents, by nature, are ignorant. They over protect their kids way too much. They forget what it's like to be that age.
|
The first movie did great, it suprised all. So they should have tought "If it's not broken, don't fix it" and made it PG if have to. Well there's no changin history now, but Laird himself said that the new TV movie will be sort of sequel to the first TMNT, so Im guessing that now we will get a TMNT movie we have been waiting since 1990.

Awesome comparison! Thanks for sharing!

Those Movie 3 costumes are so damned terrbile. Anyways, isn't Movie 2 and Movie 3 April the same actress?
|
Thats right.
|
TMNT 1 April was Judith Hoag, TMNT 2 and 3 was Paige Turco.
Josh |
Hmm, while I can obviously see that the costumes for TMNT 1 were of better overall design, I can't help but liking the TMNT costumes more (with the expection of Leo) as far as their faces go. Gah, it's really close though.
Yes, I know TMNT 1 was an amazing movie filled with action, drama, emotion, and great story and effects. It's easily the best of the three. I just personally like movies with a bit more humor, like TMNT 2. |
Personally, I can't see much difference between the first and second costumes for Raph and Mike (Leo and Don are pretty obvious though). I daresay that knowing that Jim Henson's Creature Shop did the work for the first 2 movies.
But every time I see the costumes from the third movie, I faint when I see the horrible mouth articulation and obvious lack of realism in the costumes overall. Yes, they DID look like frogs in the third movie, I'm sorry to say. Plain and simple, the third movie was worth killing yourself over (and yet I own all 3 of them...) |

The suits were done by Hensson, and were ok in TMNT 2, but clearly inferior to the first suits. Personally I didn't like the loss of realism, but the whole feeling changed, and so did the suits.

wow i always thought that they used the same costumes for 1 & 2
i am so glad that they new tv movie completely disreguards 2 & 3 and look at mik in tmnt 3 he looks like ET |
OMG I was thinking yesterday that Mikey looked like a demented green E.T in the third movie, especially in that pic in the comparisons.
|
Judith Hoag is hotter than Paige Turco. :D
|
First of all, Rapheal, you are totally nuts, er, in my opinion... Second, the pics lined up are like de-evolution in progress... Man... Makes me wanna add in cartoon and comic faces just to complete the set... Face shots from the first mirage comic, and then end with shots of four different baby turtles with photoshopped bandannas.
|
Yeah, the evolution of the turtle suits definetly went to wrong direction. So did the movies themelfs. But It seems that the Hallmark movie will be step to right direction. Of course all we know yet is just hype, so we don't really know how it's going to turn out.

Oh man, I'm soooooo looking forward to see the Hallmark-movie since Peter said that Splinter would look way better in it. I'm also wondering if the turtles will have a traditional outfit like in the new show or something slightly different.
|
Again, Hensen's did NOT do the suits in the 3rd movie.
Josh |
I don't think there was any doubt of that... And Yeah, since the HM movie will be "sort of sequel" to the first movie, and Steve Barron is involved, It will most probably be great.
|
Who did the suits for the Coming Out of Their Shells tour?
|
Some very untalented people...
