Even with that lip and the short swords...

He looks a little bit dwarfed with those characteristics... too round.

But a great art the technique is good and the attention to details like the belt around the shell and the bandanna is very good.

BWAHAHA! Another point of view (mine) is that he is perhaps my top TMNT artist and I am planning on getting a Farley tattoo (fairly small) in the not-too-distant future.

He's calling this and the Splinter drawing a "warm-up" for that. :)

well he is a turtle, they are pretty 'round', and the swords looks like they are in a nice scale

I say that the swords look short because the sword casing appear to be much bigger than the swords... if you measure it the casing goes from the top of his back to the bottom of his shelf and even appear between Leo legs... yes we can´t see the full size of the left sword and we only see one casing appearing between the legs, but Leo is know for having 2 swords of the same size so... or the swords are short or the casing are big or the tail is square.

The Splinter was very good also.

The sword isn't short. If you look at the hilt you can see it's slightly elevated... meaning the sword is cocked perfectly sideways a little bit so the blade appears slightly shorter than it should.

In other words, it's a technique known as "foreshortening". :D

THIS is a warm up? Give us a break Farley, you're way too good!

Well you can say that, the sword look short because of the perspective, but even with that in mind the angle is wrong, to get that kind of shortening the angle of the handle should be bigger... so now is the handle angle that is wrong... well something in that sword and Leo mouth (the lip) don´t please ME, but that is my IMO.

Its all good. To each their own. Craig did ALOT of work on vol.1 and thats his style. Overly round, heads sunk in more (like real turtles), bulky features, and lucsious lips LOL. I LOVE his style. Saw this on facebook and shat a brick.

Yeap, I can´t understand why my little "complains" have to be taken so seriously by Craig hardcore fans... is only my IMO...

Or everyone have to knee before him just because he is part of the TMTN history?:tlol:

He is a superb artist... I´m not taking that... but enough of this... I have my own opinion and I only have came here to post about it, not the end of the world... :tgrin:

I like this overall Leo... with some little improvements I would like it more... and that is all.:trolleye:

What I like especially in this piece is Craig's use of ink in shadow. I'm not sure we've seen him use it quite to this effect in any TMNT work before... it's almost Mignola-esque here.

An entire comic drawn by him entirely in this style would probably combust the universe from sheer awesomeness.

I actually agree with the lip and the perspective of Leo's right hand/sword is a bit off. The shadowed part underneath Leo might not be the hilt but his tail.

That said it's still a nice drawing, and I'm glad to see Mr. Farley drawing the TMNT again, especially since he's one of my top favorite TMNT artists of all time.

Yeah, does that guy who colors work in the industry professionally? If not, he should try to break into comics/magazines/etc. stuff like that.

No but that could change soon. I've come so close to doing official TMNT work but it always fell through. I do however have an original comic book coming out that I intend to have Image publish eventually.

Well, It helps to have good artwork to color so you feel excited and inspired to do a really good job on it. Everything was done in Photoshop with various brush tools. The background was a combination of several filters to make the grunge pattern look like stone.
