A Disturbing Trend

Lately I've been noticing a trend in cartoons. They suck anymore. I am really getting scared that one day I'll wake up and all my favorite shows from my childhood will have been remade into half hour blocks of crap-o-ramas and Turdfests.

I really find it appalling that people are aloud to destroy classic shows. I urge everyone to write to their Congressmen and demand these people be beaten senseless in public for their crimes.

I mean, Extreme Ghostbusters? The only extreme thing about it was how stupid it was. Transformers Armada is poke'mon with robots. The New Dexter's Lab art is hideous. HIDEOUS!

To date, the new Turtle show is the only one that is good. Everything else is a disgrace.

I never remember a story line being in ANY of these old cartoons. But some butt face woke up one morning and decided he had to be a moron and ruin everything for everyone. Seriously, who actually thinks Armada isn't a disgrace to Transformers? I don't even consider Armada to exist.

And it's because kids these days like to watch this crap that is spoon fed to them. It's Americanime. It's the wholesome morals of Tipper Gore mixed with a far fetched story, when everyone knows the only way a good story can be worked into a cartoon is if their is death or some large consequence that gives way for some emotion. What's the worst that happened in Armada? One of the kids is fat. Ghostbusters Extreme? A kid was crippled. It's terrible.

Am I alone here? No body else just wants story lines that take 3 minutes to build and then have some robots Kung Fu fight each other? That is a cartoon, kids. If you think that cartoons in America are supposed to be sophisticated and that you should go and try to find deep meanings in the story lines in them, you're an idiot. Anime is the only thing that can pull that off. America doesn't have the balls to do it. I really hate what TV has become. Just a politically correct extravaganza. This is one of the seven signs people.......duck and cover.

What do u think of the New He-Man cartoon?

That Matt Guy 03-26-2003 10:16 PM

It is stupid that they remake shows instead of showing the originals.

Incredible! I always loved He-Man, and this show pays homage to the original series. I don;t like Skeletor's voice, but it's easily over looked. Plus He-man and Prince Adam finally look a smidge more different than they did back in the day.

Donatello 03-26-2003 10:19 PM

when i began reading this i was concerned you were gonna put down the new tmnt or the batman animated series or even justice league. but as for youexample i completely agree.

Armada is absolutely painful. it could be okay but those damned humans(stupid homo-sapiens)

i'm not a big ghostbusters fan, but when i saw extreme ghostbusters i was appaled

and i do hate that they redid dexter. which bothers me because the creator of dexter is an absolute geious(we can see that in samurai jack)

Duke 03-26-2003 10:21 PM

Okay u were saying that the New TMNT was the only show that didn't suck so i had to see were you stood on He-Man.

Voltron 03-26-2003 10:23 PM

Another thing that amazed me! How no one ever picks up on the formula for a good cartoon. Batman Beyond was a unbelievable cartoon. I almost pooped myself when I saw it. And "Return of the Joker"? *drool*, sweet mercy of Christ it was so cool I walked across the street and punched my neighbor in the head.

Nickokapo 03-26-2003 10:24 PM

I'm not really against remakes, granted there's been some HORRIBLE ones like extreme ghost busters, the next mutation (EGB/TNM fans dont get all deffensive now this is just my opinion  ) but look at the new he-man and tmnt...they're not bad, in fact im glad they're back in some way.

i agree, but yer skating on thin ice my friend

ChibiKasai 03-26-2003 11:25 PM

*Jap Crap?!*
Grrr. :flaming:

And who says American cartoons can't have deep, sophisticated storylines? Look at Batman:TAS, Justice League, Batman Beyond, and X-Men Evolution. (I can't pass judge on the new TMNT, since my satillite provider doesn't pick up Fox Kids. ) Are you saying these shows aren't mature and sophisticated?

I will agree that Armada kinda sucks. It would be five times better if they just got rid of those accursed kids.

Yeah but they don't make any new eps they just re-show old ones

That Matt Guy 03-27-2003 12:12 AM

I can't believe people take the word "Jap" so seriously, to me it's like saying "Whitey" And don't take it personally, I have Japanese friends so it's not like I'm racist.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think your racist, I just know a lot of japanese people who get SERIOUSLY offended by that term...

You know I find it weird that other races can call whites rednecks or crackers or whatever, and we don't care. But when whites use slang to describe other races it is just so evil. I don't understand that.

Greed 03-27-2003 12:33 AM

Most remakes are ok but there are crappy ones to best case of crap is Armada (goddam stupid human race the human race is inferior and useless death to all humans) back to the subject at hand the classics will always rule

I have no idea why that is

Yes, they have no deep meaning or what not. American cartoons are developed upon the hopes of selling toys and merchandise. American children are ignorant and arrogant and can't handle a deep running story. If you ask a kid about one of the Japanese cartoons out there with a real on going story "Why are these two characters fighting?", you'll get "Because one's bad and the others good."

Cartoons are great. But lets not forget what they are about. An escape from reality. A cheap high. An ink fix. etc..

Nickokapo 03-27-2003 02:56 PM

To be honest i used to like 80s and 90s cartoons a lot, but now the new ones seem boring to me.
Therefore i saw myself forced to start watching "jap crap" which actually kicks the ass of most americrap on tv now.
I'm not talking about pokemon or any americanized anime either.
Sure, there's some good new toons i like, but they're very few.

Voltron 03-27-2003 05:59 PM

Anime has more of an edge to it than American stuff. The thing I admire most about American cartoons is that no explanation is needed for anything EVER.

Like how the hell did....well......anything happen?

Tokka-B 03-27-2003 07:42 PM

Yea, that is true because I bet if they showed something like Spongebob in Japan it would get cancelled within a few days...

Yea, Jacrapimation is annoying, can't we just have loony tunes, animaniacs, and pinky and the brain, instead of these deep in depth soap operas that you need to follow and be in the right mood to watch? It is so senseless....

cqb101 03-27-2003 07:56 PM

The only anime that is crappy is the american anime(Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh) And the stuff they show on Toonami(DBZ) If you want to know what a real good cartoon is like Go download some Trigun or Cowboy Bebop.

Tokka-B 03-27-2003 08:03 PM

Those are boring and crap :|

Nickokapo 03-27-2003 08:14 PM

*G* i can asure you, cowboy bebop is *not* crap...specially the movie
But yeah, pokemon, yu-gi-oh and the american dbz are pretty boring.
Truth is i already stopped watching pretty much every new american cartoon, they rarely make em like they used to.

That Matt Guy 03-27-2003 08:17 PM

I have seen Cowboy Bebop before; it's ok I guess, but I really can't take cartoons too seriously.

Raven 03-27-2003 08:19 PM

DBZ is not crap you ho!
wacth the uncencered version, trust me its not crap!
like gundam wing thats a great anime you nerd!
I should beat you up!

Reznorite420 03-27-2003 08:19 PM

Anime by any other form still sucks.

Nickokapo 03-27-2003 08:23 PM

I guess that's america's problem, they really don't make many serious cartoons, they think animation is for kids.
Sure, there was spawn and some others, but that's pretty much it.
And i agree with major pain...actually, dont look at americanized anime, they're pretty much censored and given some stupid watered down plot.

Raven 03-27-2003 08:28 PM

ya listen to me
i smell like dog

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

funny colors

Nickokapo 03-27-2003 08:30 PM

What was the point of that? :P
BTW your dog smells like dog :(
I guess some countries cant handle anime, we've had loads more anime here pretty much uncensored and there was no problem, you didnt see everyone saying anime sucks :p well it did happend with pokemon, but the southamerican version is a dub of the american dub soooo

Tokka-B 03-28-2003 02:24 PM

Anime in all forms, shapes, sizes, and appearances just plain sucks... :)

Nickokapo 03-28-2003 02:28 PM

That is soooooo biased and close minded  american animation had its moments for quite a while, but now that most stuff out there is crap, japan is taking over :)
I'll take nge over 'super duper sumos' anytime, athankya :P

In your opinion of course. :)

And the uncencored DBZ is a lot better than what CN shows but it isn't as good as Cowboy Bebop or trigun or any of the Gundam shows.

BTW The Cowboy Bebop movie is comming to theaters in the US I can't wait!
