TheCanadiandrome 07-02-2010 11:55 AM

while you're at it, look for the Turtles being interviewed by Barbera Walters. ever see a Ninja Turtle cry? rofl! :P

ooglafina 07-02-2010 12:16 PM

I remember the Barbara Walters one when it first aired. I had to lobby and fight to stay up until 10pm because my bedtime was 8:30.

Donny has some serious Mommy problems. XD

Guitar_Raph 07-02-2010 01:28 PM

How about anyone having the Larry King special that aired one October Sunday in 1990 on NBC? TMNT performed their hit tune "Count On Us".

Roseangelo 07-02-2010 01:39 PM

I have the Oprah show and Barbara Walters on VHS somewhere. I think I also have Regis & Kathy Lee.

Gyt Kaliba 07-02-2010 02:13 PM

I've seen the Barbara Walters one (it's even partially shown in the Behind the Shells thing), but I never knew about an Oprah or a Regis & Kathy Lee thing. I...must...see these!

gobo 07-02-2010 02:38 PM

Never knew 'bout Regis. What was that one promoting?

Larry King? O_o Seriously??

It's the Coming Out of Their Shells Tour.

drewizzle88 07-02-2010 02:59 PM

These would all be good things to include on the documentary DVD, if thats still an ongoing project.

Im going to go out on a limb and guess the extras are virtually non-existent on the Blu Ray release like they were on the DVDs lol?

CyberCubed 07-03-2010 12:02 AM

All I remember from the Oprah one was kids booing Shredder off stage and him covering his ears. lol.

Hi all,

I've got part of the show up on Youtube:

Very cool site you have here. I grew up on the original TMNT, and I still love it, but I guess that's no different from many of you!

HAHAHAHA, that was awesome! Thanks so much for posting this!

Got kinda weird with the April and turtle-cest stuff though...

Venom 01-06-2011 10:28 PM

Hehe, that's great when Shredder points at the kid and calls him a' "imbecilic little punoid"

Man, that April was HAWT!!! Wonder what she looks like now. Gah, she totally has a porn look about her.

Gotta love how flirty Mike was when Oprah asked if she liked one more than the others...that's one thing I've always loved about him, how confident and comfortable he was in his own skin. The black dude behind Oprah was looking pretty uncomfortable when Mike was talking about how April being a Turtle would work out great sexually and Raph saying he'd been trying to talk her into an inter-species relationship, holy crap! XD

Jeez...this makes me miss being a kid. I totally got engrossed in this ridiculous little vid, thinking how badass it must have been to be in the audience seeing the Turtles IN THE FLESH!!!

My, what tiny feet they had too. :P

Digital Ghost 01-06-2011 10:35 PM

I haven't seen this Oprah thing in years... awesome! :tgrin:

Venom 01-06-2011 10:59 PM

Heh, around 16:50, I think that's the first time I've ever heard anyone reference Mark Freedman (aside from reading about him in articles).

Also, around 19:00 when the kid asks how Splinter taught them to fight Mike tells him the Mirage origin. Kinda funny, the guy hesitates like "which one do I tell, him being Yoshi or him learning from Yoshi?"

Venom 01-06-2011 11:13 PM

Twenty-one damn years later and I still love that shoit!!

As much as I try to put the 'toon behind me and be a Mirage comic snob, there's no denying how freaking special those times were. I would have wanted to hug them all!

twopinacoladas 01-06-2011 11:32 PM

I could have swore that when the second movie came out I believe they were on there or it may have only been mikey. I remember them on set but I think it was for the movie and not the live show. They may have came out of the sewer at the beginning of the show as well...

CyberCubed 01-06-2011 11:56 PM

It's funny knowing all the kids in that video are now in their mid-20's. :)

God, I miss it when TMNT was a phenomenon and all kids loved them, similar to Pokemon or Spongebob. If only that could happen again.

That vid was pretty funny.

It sounds like Mikey says "conceptually," which...either means "in concept," or he's talking about conception, and I'm guessing it's the latter. X] Either way, both that comment and the interspecies comment made me a little uncomfortable. :p Noooot the kind of thing you talk about in that sort of racy manner where a bunch of kids are present—I totally understand the guy's reactions, ha. "Whoa, jeez, what's goin' on here?"

"Were you guys scared when Shredder was here?"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Man, I was totally some of these kids' age at that time. This woulda been sweet to attend. :) Guaranteed a bent-over hug from April would've jumpstarted a very early puberty. I'm also curious what her name is, what she looks like now, what else she was doing back then, and if there are more pictures. :p

Edit: Actually, know what—d'oh—it makes sense she'd be the same girl as on the tour. For some reason I was thinking they'd go about doing this show with another gal, ha. So, Sherie Rene Scott's the name, and she's a cuuutiiiie.

http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...040b2bb192.jpg

Mee-yow—she still looks good. I'm a fan of the older wiminz. Think I'll track her down and marry 'er.

Digital Ghost 01-07-2011 04:49 PM

Damn, she does look good. :tcool:

gobo 01-07-2011 07:32 PM

She looks way better than on the tour stuff, IMO.

You sure he didn't say "contraceptually"? :embarass:

Abnormal Freak 01-07-2011 08:35 PM

Now, if he were saying that, then he wouldn't want her to be a turtle, and he'd just go for it right now. :) What better contraceptive than being of incompatible species? Ha!

But yeah, he's either saying "conceptually" to mean, in concept, it would work for him; or he meant to say conceptionally.

:o

I really like her frazzled '80s/early '90s red hair and the mighty cleavage. http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/smi...on_biggrin.gif She looks a little portly in that Oprah video, so her beubs were a bit bigger than they are now. Mmm-mmm. And those tight black pants, and the silly yellow jacket—so good. I feel jealous of Donatello around 20:15. Hand on her hip, oh man.

Maaaaan, I need a wife. :p I feel so pathetic.

The very end of this video is so incredible. Just seeing everyone dance to that badass "Pizza Power" song, which is immortalized in my mind by Turtles in Time, everyone dancing and having a ball—just so much fun. I love kids and seeing 'em have a good time.

Ehhh, I still feel he says "cause sexually that'd work for me!". I turned my speaker up and replayed it over and over astounded that made it past the producers during editing. Remember, these guys were talking as 15 year olds would, and what's more important than sex at that age; besides, the only one to use a four-dollar word like "conceptually" would be Don. :D

supermanbp 01-09-2011 01:15 AM

Oh God :tlol: I remember tuning in to watch this as a kid. I remember being disappointed and uncomfortable at the same time and changing the channel before too long. I think I checked back in intermittently because I caught some of the stuff from later in the show too. Even as a kid I always preferred a more serious approach to the Turtles (the first movie for example) and I just wasn't buying the whole "Coming Out of Their Shells Tour" thing. Amusing to watch now, but I still feel embarrased for everyone involved :tlol:

Lar 01-10-2011 07:01 PM

Well, Oprah's Company "Harpo" had the video disabled, so I pulled it. Oh well.

fizzymitsu 01-10-2011 07:53 PM

Dammit I wanted to see that! That picture of them jamming out on various instruments... is that from the Oprah show? I wanna see ultra hottie April! I feel like I'm missing out, this sucks. :(

You know there have been past Oprah interviews I've wanted to watch online over the years, and they are NO WHERE to be found! This is pretty crazy when you think about how many shows she's done and how far reaching the internet is. So as soon as I saw you posted the video I saved it, figuring this would be the outcome. Thank you for sharing it though, I'd wanted to see it for a long time.

Sure thing. I knew I was taking a chance with it. You know, there are a LOT of Oprah vids on Youtube that appear to be put up by regular users, I wonder why this one got yanked but not Tom Cruise being a psycho?

I shoulda done that. :ohwell: I didn't even get around to watching it while it was up. >_<

Abnormal Freak 01-11-2011 11:20 PM

Maybe Lar can upload the original video somewhere like MediaFire for us to download. ;)
