TMNT DVDs?

Any idea if Nickelodeon is going to release seasons 9 and 10 of the show?

gobo 07-21-2010 12:01 PM

Maybe... if they ever buy it from Lionsgate.

Voidoid 07-21-2010 12:03 PM

I hope so, this is really starting to tick me off.

CyberCubed 07-21-2010 01:54 PM

I think I will cry if Lionsgate doesn't get out Seasons 9 and 10 and the 3 skipped eps.

What can we do about this?

I'm up for a protest outside of their headquarters if you are. I'll bring the pickett signs, you bring the bullhorn. :x

we can only hope and prey for a release. balls in Lionsgate's court or Nickelodeon's, cause like gobo said, they could aquire the rights to the OT

Eiko 07-21-2010 06:17 PM

Just hope and prey that they will eventually be released.

Lionsgate still owns the rights to the show on DVD? I thought Nick had the global rights to the property.

No, Nick only bought what contracts Mirage had. So, technically, they own the brand. But, the distribution rights to the original cartoon were always the property of Fred Wolf Studios, and the buyout didn't change that.

RockMax 07-21-2010 07:48 PM

Oh ok, that makes sense...Soooo what's Lionsgate's deal with not putting out the last 2 DVDs? That's rediculous!

Oh, and if anyone wants to PM me. My friend made me special 2 volume set covers for seasons 1-5 and 6-10 of the show. The cover is SICK, but you would require the box for the DVDs. I have the TIF files on my computer so I can just upload them for you if y'all want. (Also have Transformers G1 in a 2 set if you want).

Just PM me.

Adam Riches 07-21-2010 10:29 PM

I suspect (though I really hope this isn't the case) that what will end up happening is when the relaunch occurs in 2012, Lionsgate (or whoever holds the rights at that time) will release either a complete series set, or start rereleasing the OT all over again starting with season 1, only this time they will release them all as complete seasons and not volumes. Of course, this would suck seeing as we are all majorly invested in individual volumes already, so if the only way to complete 9 & 10 would be to rebuy everything we already have we will have all gotten hosed big time.

CyberCubed 07-22-2010 12:44 AM

They could at least release Seasons 9 and 10 BEFORE re-releasing the entire series.

agreed. that makes more sense

RockMax 07-22-2010 12:20 PM

While like all of you, I have the seasons 1-8 already. But have them in thick DVD boxes with them saying Volume 1 and Volume 2 (basically seasons 1-5 and 6-10), if anyone wants these covers for free, just PM me. They look AWESOME, you can even have them if you don't intend to use them.

So if they end up selling seasons 9 and 10 eventually in any way I'll just put them in the last 2 dvd spots in my boxes.

Jephael 07-22-2010 05:27 PM

To be honest, I could care less if seasons 9 and 10 get released. I didn't really like the Dregg era of the show.

As for the episodes that weren't released on DVD, they are available on video cassette so just look for them on eBay.

I agree there..in my opinion season 9 was the worst season of them all. Season 10 was an improvement though. Funny, some of the DVDs' episode transfers were from VHS anyway.

RockMax 07-22-2010 06:15 PM

I don't know what they are/were even like. At that point I had grown out of Ninja Turtles as a kid, I think I was kickin' it with the Power Rangers at the time. Now it's more for nostalgia, since I have all of Transformers G1, Beast Wars and The Real Ghostbusters, might as well complete my childhood with TMNT.

The whole series deserves to be released on DVD, whether you liked a season or not.

Spitfire 07-22-2010 10:46 PM

Rawr season 9 and 10 suck because Shredder and Krang aren't the main villains.

Rawr 2K3 sucks because Shredder is the main villain.

Ioz 07-22-2010 11:06 PM

They could get it all released with just one more 2-DVD set with the 3 missing episodes, season 9, and the rest of season 10 that wasn't on volume 1. The 3 missing episodes would motivate some of the people that don't like the later seasons to buy it.
