SDCC2010 Photo Dump etc.

Hey guys,
So since conventions are kind of "me time" I try not to blog too much about them while they are going on. But I wanted to make a thread here to dump photos for you guys after the various days. Feel free to use the thread to talk about the con or whatever too.

Anyway, heres tonights photos. This was basically shopping night, so its mainly photos of stuff I bought.

Tommorrow will have pictures of the floor and panels etc.

Looks a tad more defined in the facial area. Maybe its the shadowing they used around the mouth. And in the actual mouth ''slit''.I dunno.

Heh... dump.....

hmmm , the dimples are a bit less noticable , but it might be the lighting like you said.

Found another pic of it. To me, it looks a bit more rounded around the mouth. But that might be the angle and lighting. All I know is after seeing this pic, I know I made the right choice in not cancelling these statues. They are gonna look amazing all set up together.

Hey Archon! I see you're finally getting into the MEGO styled figures with the Venture Bros. I knew you couldn't hold out forever. Great looking stuff you got so far. Congrats!

Brodie 07-23-2010 09:31 AM

I usually see a few comicon exclusive stuff that I'm jealous of. This year the only thing was the 19 inch SDCC Exclusive Galactus from Hasbro. I had kind of accepted the fact that I'd never score one.

Until this site was doing a twitter contest for SDCC stuff, and through a completely random/impossible/insane stroke of luck, I scored their last Galactus from their last Twitter contest.

Shouldn't have happened (especially since my browser froze right before they posted the message), but it did. So I <3 SDCC this year.

I owe it all to Uatu the Watcher.

Not really TMNT-related, though.

Just got back in. My brain is totally owned. Will put together a constructive post soon. In the interim, photos from the whole trip can be found here.

Any scanned books are stuff I got signed, and any scanned sketches are stuff I picked up at the show.

So, I got to finally meet Kevin Eastman at SDCC. He was at the Heavy Metal booth all weekend, so I picked up the Artobiography which he was kind enough to sign for me. On Friday, I had him sketch a Captain America Ninja Turtle on my Avengers #1 blank variant cover (image below), and that night in my hotel room, I did a sketch in sharpie on the back of a comic backing board (also below), as only the beginning of a 'thank you' for all the years of entertainment his creations have given to myself and my friends.

My sketch is absolutely terrible (by my standards), because it's just sharpie and comic backing board. But Mr. Eastman seemed very pleased to receive it, and informed me that he keeps everything fans give him.

Someday, I'll make something far better for him.

Great idea! Why didn't I think of that too?!

When I got to the Heavy Metal booth, the artobiography had already sold out. :(

I dig your sketch, dude!

When the Michael Bay movie finally starts production it's gonna be fun seeing all the TMNT-related stuff at Comic-Con.

Nelson 07-31-2010 09:45 PM

This was probably the best thing in the con:

I saw that guy a few times. Unfortunately each time with fewer and fewer action figures left on his back.

Powder 07-31-2010 09:56 PM

Does anyone know where he got that hat? I was in NY last week & a pal of mine told me one of our mutual friends was wearing it. After having heard about it & now seeing it, I must have it. Hallllpppp.

BubblyShell22 08-01-2010 08:49 AM

Awesome pics, guys. One of these days, I'd love to attend Comic Con. Sounds like you guys had a blast.

Samhain 08-01-2010 07:26 PM

I loved all the pics. Looks like it was major fun! Hopefully I can make it out there in the upcoming years!

Toon 08-03-2010 01:18 PM

They're sculpts made by Susumu Sugita (Moore Creations). Not crazy about that Mikey, but it was kinda cool to see while walking by.
