Nickokapo 04-07-2003 08:09 PM

Meh..what fun is it to live longer than usual if you can barely walk or understand whatever is going on around ya?
BTW this should be in general discussion.

Peanut 04-07-2003 08:12 PM

Make sure to post in the correct forum next time! :)

J Legault 04-07-2003 08:16 PM

My Great Grandmother is 93 years old. and she been around since World War 1.

Nickokapo 04-07-2003 08:20 PM

Oh hey that was fast, thanks michaelangelo :D
I'm not sure about my grandmother's age, but my grandfather's one is around 80 years...he used to be really active (working on his garden and stuff) which surprised me for someone his age, but last year one of his foot got kinda injured so now he's not all that active anymore.
Death comes to us all like splinter sez', but i'd like to live as much as my grandfather is and still be as active, that'd be cool :D

Tokka-B 04-08-2003 05:47 AM

now now guys, repsect the elderly, she didn't live this long for this....

Nickokapo 04-08-2003 06:15 AM

:embarass: Sorry 'bout that tokka, lol

That Matt Guy 04-08-2003 06:24 AM

Everyone in my family has lived to be like 90 or 100 years old. The way I live, I'll be lucky to see 40.

Tokka-B 04-08-2003 02:42 PM

        That put you in my top 10 for funniest people on the board matt...

heretic888 04-08-2003 02:47 PM

I know of a tai chi master living in China that lived to be well over 200 years old.... of course, he did end up dying quite a few decades ago.

Raven 04-08-2003 03:52 PM

Tokka-B 04-08-2003 04:10 PM

Heh, your one odd egg matt..... :P

Dontebell 04-08-2003 06:03 PM

dose people reach the age of 1,000?

Raven 04-08-2003 07:18 PM

in the old testament I belive it said there was a man that lived to be about over 900 years old and im not talking about Adam
some other guy

That Matt Guy 04-08-2003 10:16 PM

Supposedly there were native Americans that lived to be hundreds of years old, but their entire perception of how long a year was is totally different then what we know. They might have thought of one season as year and so on.

Nickokapo 04-09-2003 10:41 AM

http://www.gsarchives.com/snes/sprit...4/splinter.gif
Splinter has got to be one of the coolest old people ever 8)
As for that guy adam living 900 years... :dead: how can that be phisycally possible? His body would probably stop functioning all that well after all those years...it's just nuts :P

Duke 04-09-2003 08:28 PM

For one thing the Bible is not a myth and no one even reached 1,000. The oldest man recorded in the Bible was Methuselah, who lived to be 969.

"And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died." Genesis 5:27 KJV

Tokka-B 04-09-2003 08:41 PM

Wow, that is a pretty long time, how did he manage that? :-?

Duke 04-09-2003 08:47 PM

God made Adom and Eve w/out flaw. They chose to sin, so there bodies were basically perfect. Making the first few generations born after them also nearly perfect. Meaning they could remain healthy for a very long time. There also would have been alot less diseases back then.

Nickokapo 04-10-2003 03:46 AM

Ohhhhhhh we're talking about the adam from the bible here, not the adam from he-man, not the adam from around the block, not your average adam  i should've readed more carefully.
Well those were different times i guess, nowadays i doubt someone could live that long.

heretic888 04-10-2003 10:21 AM

ahem

I would be interested to how one could explain Adam and Eve's bodies were closer to 'flawless' than my own?? What exactly is considered the 'flaws' of our existence??

Nickokapo 04-10-2003 11:11 AM

I second that question :ohwell:

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 07:31 PM

Yea, what is a perfect body? And I'd be curious to know what did he do for 900 years without the wheel?

Leo656 04-10-2003 07:35 PM

Apparently, lots of jogging and pushups. :D

Duke 04-10-2003 07:37 PM

Okay, I'll explain as best i can. By "flawless" i meant the genes and chromosones would have been with out error. But after generation and generation of reproducing the genes are not copied perfectly. Minor or Majors flaws occur. Causing Genetic Defects.

Leo656 04-10-2003 07:39 PM

Yeah, especially if all humankind really did start with Adam and Eve. All those generations of inbreeding between their offspring must've taken a huge toll. :P

BTW, I'm just being a smartass, as usual. Try not to get offended, anyone. I say whatever's in my head at the time. It's funnier that way. :D

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 07:40 PM

It is stupid that way leo...

Anyway, when do you suppose we will all just be so imperfect that we cant live?

Yeah thats what i'm saying. And i except people pretty much for who they are so your not offending me.

Leo656 04-10-2003 07:43 PM

And here we go again. And things were going so well.

At least I HAVE a sense of humor, Mr. "I take myself and everything else way too seriously". You're gonna give yourself an ulcer one of these days.

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 07:44 PM

and you wonder why I tell you to shut up? What things were going so well?? I'd love to hear that one! As Zenrick would say, just hush up.

Leo656 04-10-2003 07:56 PM

Alright, that does it.

I've tried, really, really tried. I've tried being civil, I've tried being nice to you, I've tried playing along with you, and it's just getting old.

Is there a particular reason why you absolutely refuse to act civil with me? It seems like your new mission in life lately is pissing me off when I've tried to be civil with you.

Word to the wise, KID: Push me, I push you back. Tell me to "shut up", I'm gonna keep doing exactly what I've been doing. I'm not the one with the problem here, buddy boy, YOU are. I have no idea why you're trying to start sh*t with me, since I've actually tried to be nice to you, but frankly, I don't really care.

Leave me the hell alone. Don't speak my name, since you're far from worthy anyway. You don't exist, got it? You and me aren't even in the same league. Quit trying to push my buttons, quit replying to me when I'm not even talking to you, mind your own damn business and for God's sake shut up already.

You wanna start a war of words with me, pal? You're throwing rocks at a guy with a machine gun. You aint gonna win.

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 08:04 PM

   I am sure that was all copied from like a Nash fanboy homepage or something, HA! Anyway, I respect your opinions, but that doesn't mean I will always agree with you. If we agree with one thing that won't mean I am going to give in and agree with you about everything. You just are so stuck up with your own opinions you can't except or even bother to challenge someone that disagrees. I have yet to discover whatever you being nice to me means...Why can't you just except that people are different. Take a hint sport...

Leo656 04-10-2003 08:11 PM

I'm glad I didn't offend you, Duke, cuz when I said that joke I thought for a moment that I might be like, trivializing your beliefs or something. Glad to see no harm no foul.

Machias Banshee 04-10-2003 08:13 PM

*sighs, looking up from her STUDYING*

Okay, Tokka and Leo, kill the arguing. Tokka, I know youre pushing on him, and have been in other threads. Knock it off...

*official mod warning*

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 08:15 PM

I was pushing him? How about he was pushing me? He was the one who started that leo/tokka thread anyway... I'd like an explanation please....

And duke, based on your logic, eventually humans will be imperfect...what will happen then?

Leo656 04-10-2003 08:20 PM

I'm chilled, Machias.

The purpose of said thread was because, at one time, I believed that a rational discussion might clear the air and determine exactly what the problem was. But then I fell asleep. And I've now lost interest, and would rather talk to my cool friends in this forum about cool things like Stooges and Smurfs and The Cure and trying to get Kali to flash...

So nothing else needs to be said from my end.

Tokka-B 04-10-2003 08:23 PM

There is no problem to begin with! We are 2 different people with different opinions...sheesh, can't you understand that? I don't start topics to explain why you are against my opinions, I don't know why it is all against me anyway...should I start a topic on why you shouldn't be disagreeing with me on everything to clear up our "problem"?

Leo656 04-10-2003 08:37 PM

I'm going to make one last exception and say this to you, and after that this whole thing isn't worth my time...

(ahem)

Believe it or not, it is possible to disagree with someone WITHOUT...

1. Calling them stupid
2. Calling their opinions stupid
3. Telling them to shut up

For example, A mature person voices disagreement in the following manner:

"I don't know... I personally don't think TNM was a very good idea, I really didn't like it much. I thought it was kind of stupid."

However, an immature person voices disagreement in the following manner:

"TNM was stupid as hell and anyone who likes it is a retard and needs to be clubbed about the head and neck with a dead baby seal."

See the disinction?

What you do isn't voicing your opinion, Tokka, what you do is called instigating. You try and rile people. Me in particular it seems lately. Every single time the words "shut up" escape from your keyboard, to me or to anyone, you cross the line from "disagreeing" to "trying to start problems".

You want to see how mature people co-exist and even get along despite having a difference of opinion? Look at me and GK. We disagree about plenty, and yet we get along quite well. Because there's a flip side to "disagreeing with someone's opinions". It's called "respecting other people's opinions and their right to have them".

Nowhere in that do the words "shut up" or "you're stupid" need apply.

Hopefully, that clears things up. However, like I've said, it doesn't matter, because this is the last time you and I will interact unless you choose to reply to one of my posts. And I don't suggest it, because you wont get a response.
