Paramount's TMNT reboot movie currently aiming for 2013 release

I read in this article that the new movie now has a projected release date of 2013:
http://www.toonzone.net/news/article...-ninja-turtles

PizzaPower 03-10-2011 12:53 PM

thats really neat. wish it was sooner though, lol.

gobo 03-10-2011 12:57 PM

Well, crap... I was looking forward to the movie a little bit more. :ohwell:

Vernon 03-10-2011 01:00 PM

I had speculation that the movie would be a lead-in to the cartoon. Y'know, telling the origin story first with the movie, then having the series start off on something different.

I'm hoping, with this new news, that the cartoon universe and movie universe will be drastically different. With the movies aiming for the original mirage comics, while the cartoon is just a mesh of everything 'turtles, both spider man and batman have been able to perform good-quality children's shows while pg-13 movies were still going on, can't see why the ninja turtles would be treated differently.

Master Splinter 03-10-2011 01:04 PM

I waited this long... Don't mind waiting longer...

This is actually probably better considering the amount of comic book films already coming out in 2012, I wouldn't want the guys kind of lost in the shuffle of Captain America and the Avengers.

Still excited and willing to wait for what I really am hoping will be quality!

Roseangelo 03-10-2011 01:26 PM

This is good to read, because considering they still haven't finalized the script, pumping out a movie within the next year could only turn out crappy.

Very good point, but it's kind of annoying that they're not really getting anything done (apparently).

sdp 03-10-2011 07:50 PM

Not only that but 2012 is loaded with movies, there was no way TMNT had a fair chance it was going to be competing with all the big hitters, even if it was ready it would have been a smart move to move it a year. I am a bit bummed but oh well. No news of the new movie at SDCC then.. I think all 2013 has is Iron Man 3.
BTW no script is not stopping MIBIII from starting filming and releasing in 2012 lol...

CyberCubed 03-10-2011 07:54 PM

So the show will definitely predate the movie by months.

chad 03-10-2011 08:01 PM

I think this is good because there are an awful lot of movies out next year and and the script most likey is not ready yet so it makes sense.

CyberCubed 03-11-2011 11:51 PM

As long as they don't delay the cartoon because of the movie, its fine.

Here's hoping the show starts even earlier than Fall 2012.

PizzaPower 03-12-2011 01:17 AM

i dont think the cartoon will be delayed, NICK i believe is working really hard on it.

Ur right they have it slated for 2012 so we will be ok :tcool:

PizzaPower 03-12-2011 04:57 PM

yup yup :) i cant wait for some more previews!

Slap-Happy 03-15-2011 08:53 AM

What I'm wondering is how one article says it, and every person just believes it. Movies can go into production without even a finished script (Men in Black 3)

They're probably close to hiring a director and may have even started design work. We don't even have the info to say that they are or aren't working around the clock on it to release in 2012.

sdp 03-15-2011 11:44 AM

You are totally right, the source they link to mentions absolutely nothing about a 2013 release date, no one else has reported it as far as i know and the only mention is from toonzone and this wouldn't be the first time they make stuff up. Until a proper source can be found (which I googled and found no one besides the above site reporting it everyone should assume the movie is coming out in 2012, topic title should be changed as well.

Well, it's nice to know that they're spending a good deal of time to make sure the script is just right, and personally, I'd guess that a 2013 release is more likely than one in 2012, but that's just my opinion, and I could very easily turn out to be wrong.

Kendamu 04-01-2011 03:56 PM

This'll give Nick several months to build up a new fanbase with the new show before the movie comes out, anyway.

PizzaPower 04-01-2011 05:20 PM

that is an awesome idea.

Turo602 04-01-2011 05:29 PM

Looks like I found out really late. Damn them! More waiting, I've been waiting like since 2009! What the hell! This movie better be really good with no mistakes and one hell of a perfect TMNT movie experience with no flaws. Then it'll be worth the wait. But yes, the waiting is such a pain.

I know right? Ive been waiting sense they showed off that poster of Mikey holding his brothers bandanas and shredder was looking down on him. I though it would have and then they promised us a mirage style movie.... Man I was so excited.

Then I found out about the Nick deal. and through up a few birds at Nick lol bc I really wanted that mirage movie version. But now I think the Nick buyout was the best thing for TMNT. Sorry for the birds

Is platinum Dunes still attached to make it? If so that really worries me on if we get a good film. Personally i have hated every thing they have put out which IMO,consists of poorly made unneeded remakes of horror flicks that were a product of the time period in which they came out.

I think so, I havent heard any changes. Michael Bay is still the producer, so I would say yes

rufus 04-18-2011 07:46 PM

Hopefully they will give to some one who really cares about telling a good storie with strong characters.

ChetTurtle 04-18-2011 08:07 PM

Does anyone know if Nick has ever released an PG-13 (M where I am) rated movie? TMNT's never had a a PG-13 show or movie, although I wouldn't say its out of the question.

Redeemer 04-18-2011 08:09 PM

Are they the ones who did the first transformers movie???? Bc I really love that movie, dont like the second one nearly as much, much at all for that matter. But Bay really did great with the first one

k_lala 04-18-2011 08:14 PM

So this one movie can easily put Nick at even...i mean they bought the whole franchise for $60 mill...the last movie did $95 mill.

This one movie can already put them over.

rufus 04-18-2011 08:16 PM

All of nicks films have ranged from G to PG.

Platinum Dunes did not do Transformers (2007)Transformers: Revenge of the fallen(2009), That was Paramount and Michael Bay.
Platinum Dunes has done;
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
The Amityville Horror (2005)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
The Hitcher (2007)
The Unborn (2009)
Friday the 13th (2009)
Horsemen (2009)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Candy Kappa 04-18-2011 08:22 PM

Nelson Shin directed the first Transformers movie (and in my mind the only one)

You also have to consider budget. Not saying this movie won't be profitable though.

Yeah considering the average movie cost about 65 million to make

Yup well the last films budget was 34 mil. It made 95 mil or so correct? So 95 - 34 = 61. So they could break even right off the bat. They bought TMNT for a great deal!

Redeemer 04-18-2011 08:41 PM

Where did u find the budget???? I looked it up and couldn't find it, so I looked up the average budget for 2006.

rufus 04-18-2011 08:45 PM

Would be pretty sweet if they went Animatronic again and got the Jim Henson Creature Shop to make them. Would be amazing to see what they could pull of 21 years after the first film.
