Raphael's personality in Nick's version
 

It seems from people who attended the Nick event that Raph is more like his Mirage/Movies/2k3 counterparts in this series, but I recall someone saying Raph is also more sarcastic in this version as well, which reminds me of old toon Raph.

I was thinking something similar to post-beatdown Raphael in the first TMNT movie.

Definitely, Raph needs to have his brooding side I mean that's what set him aside from his brothers AND opened up for some sweeeeeeeeeet solo stories. Yet Ideally (to keep us all happy :tgrin:) it would be awesome if Raph was a amalgam (that will be my word for the day) of all previous personalities. He could bounce jokes and witty one liners with Mikey but also love to fight and go all berserker......'Wolverine' style during a fight :tmad: snikity snikt.

As long as he's recognizably Raph, I'll be happy.

I really don't care what his personality is as long as he stays true to the character.

^ In order for him to remain true to his character he would need to include those traits mentioned.

He can still be the anti-hero and be funny at the same time.

I just hope they don't over do their personalities like 2k3 did.

Leo - leader etc but not too boring, he doesn't have to be focused all the time.
Mikey- fun, goofball but not an idiot or hardcore geek.
Donny - show that he can indeed fight, but he's usually portrayed very well in most incarnations
Raph - angry/strong one but not up to 11 like 2k3 god, make him more sarcastic like the OT instead of so angry.

A mix of all, make him a bit more sarcastic and tone down his anger.

Yeah,the snarkyness that he showed I always liked.Forgive me if I said this before but he is the Han Solo of the group.

Raph being sarcastic and having one-liners is fine but I certainly don't want him to be a yes-man to Leo.

I like Raphael when he's witty and level-headed.

LEO: "Turtles fight with honor!"
RAPH: "Call me a sentimental fool, but I'm a sucker for that battle cry."

I personally would like to see this Raph be a bit more like the first movie Raph, he's got a bad temper, but also has a sarcastic wit.

The only other comparison I can think of to give an example of how I'd like to see Raph is maybe Guy Gardner.

when was Raphael ever a yes man to Leo? He wasn't like that even in the classic toon.

I prefer the 2003 Raph to the 1988 one. I like the angry side of his personality and I think it sets him apart from his brothers in a positive way. Hopefully they continue that in the series.

just because he didn't care about the decsions made in the team doesn't mean he was a yes man, and he never passed up an oppertunity to call Leonardo out when something went wrong or quip as his expence. When I think of a yes man I think of an ass kisser which OT Raphael certainly was not.

When I think of a yes man I think of the Jim Carrey movie.
I agree that Raphael was less confrontational in the OT series, but that was because he was more sarcastic than hot-headed. But he did offer the sarcastic retort towards Leo now and then, and he was usually reluctant to follow his plans and never passed up the chance to gloat whenever Leo's plans backfired....so I don't think that sums up a yes man.

Raphael in the Old Toon and Chandler Bing from "Friends" are the same character.

I guess that explains why Chandler is my favorite Friend....:D

not that im gonna watch it but raph's got a soft side they rarely ever show. he aint all badass

Come on, BL. I figured you to be one to give it a chance at least, before discounting it completely.

i think Raph has been sarcastic in every incarnation except for maybe Comics (mirage and others I haven't read), with varying degrees of anger (except for OT). I think it's more about ratios than which particular traits.

P.S.I actually think a great way to go would be Danny from Hawaii Five-0 (the new one) with a little more anger (he gets pretty fired up though sometimes).

Raph actually has a bit of a temper in the OT.

"Shut up and push" "OUTTA MY FACE JERK" and other somewhat uncommon moments are good examples of that.

And let's not forget my personal favorite:
"You'd better or else I'm gonna get sarcastic."

Of course Raph has a soft side, and we do see it from time to time. But I think that's what makes it extra special for Raph, is that we don't see that side of him often. One of my favorite moments with him, is when he helps Leo make new swords after Leo's near walk with death thanks to the Shredder.
