Group Rewatching of 4kids Series.

Anyone else suffering withdrawals?
Until I can liquefy the show and hook it up to an IV, I'm thinking of starting a group rewatching of the 4kids series thread for discussion, starting at season 1 episode 1, maybe at one ep per week?
So, anyone else interested?

--NOW WATCHING-- Get out those dusty VHSs, DVDs and (totally) legal downloads.

SEASON ONE
Ep 1 - "Things Change"
Ep 2 - "A Better Mousetrap"
Ep 3 - "Attack of the Mousers"
Ep 4 - "Meet Casey Jones"
Ep 5 - "Nano"

Discussion thread open on 7/8th May.

FearlessLeader 04-27-2011 08:24 PM

I would like to join in! I think it would be fun and something to kill time while we wait for 2012.

Jester 04-27-2011 08:26 PM

Are you proposing a "TMNT Episode Club" much like a book club?

Oh yes, I am. :tsmile:

CyberCubed 04-27-2011 08:36 PM

Most people don't watch at the same pace. Some people only like to watch 1 episode a day (or week), while other people can watch like 5 episodes in a single day.

Everyone watches shows at a different pace. I usually watch 3 episodes per day of any given show I'm rewatching till I get to the end of it.

gobo 04-27-2011 08:43 PM

Still waiting for some setup elements for my projector, but count me in. ^_^

That's why you set a "One episode per..." limit and talk about the episode on a given day...like a book club.

IamtheKnight 04-27-2011 08:47 PM

I would like to do this but sadly I don't have all the episodes. I have all of season 1, 2, 5, and 6 and half of seasons 3 and 4.

CyberCubed 04-27-2011 08:59 PM

Most of us don't have Back to the Sewers or Turtles Forever uncut on DVD yet.

Might as well wait.

Both are on Youtube for if and when we get to those seasons/ episodes.

I do this with three different Star Trek series right now and it's a LOT of fun to do.

I fully endorse this idea!

CyberCubed 04-27-2011 09:14 PM

The problem with these ideas is people always stick to it at the start but then drift out halfway. Also people always stop commenting even if they do watch the episodes.

Why not just have an episode discussion thread where people discuss any 4kids ep they recently watched?

We already do this, so I guess this particular way will be an experiment. Also, it will mean people that join in will have the episode fresh in their heads.

gobo 04-27-2011 09:23 PM

The problem with these forums is the cybercubed in them.

sdp 04-27-2011 09:28 PM

Well I just finished watching a little over a month or two ago so I'm out since I don't feel like watching it over again so recently. This is a great idea though, I think 1 episode per week its not going to work, it'd literally take more than three years to finish since its 157 episodes. I think something like 5 Episodes is more reasonable, people can easily watch 5 episodes in one week, whether one episode per day or marathon 5 one day a week or whatever works for them. When I recently watched it I would usually watch 3 episodes per weekday and I finished in less than 3 months, but I can see how 15 episodes might be a lot for most.

Anyways I've actually collected the Discussion threads of episodes, its a sticky in this forum so you can always just bump those topics in case the "book club" doesn't work out.

A good point. Ok, so is 5 episodes a week too much for anyone, or should it be one disc (~4 episodes) per week?

That could get hairy when you get to seasons 3 and 4 which are WAY out of order.
Then again, we also have different DVD releases depending on where we live.

Donnie 04-28-2011 04:36 AM

I'm in! I only have season 1 and various other parts of seasons 2-4, but I can YouTube the episodes I don't have. I've seen them all at one point anyway.

Luckily, for when we get to the screwy episodes in Season 3 and 4, there are a couple people on YouTube who have uploaded the entire TMNT series in order. I would suggest ForeverMutation, since he uploads his episodes as 20-minute videos.

I'll join, but sometimes I'll probably just review the episode based on memory.

Cowabunga Carl 04-28-2011 07:35 AM

Sounds good. I'm in.

Jephael 04-28-2011 08:00 AM

I wish I could do this with you guys, but believe it or not I have most of the 4Kids series recorded on VHS and I keep them in my old room at my parents house, which I don't go to very often. Some day however I may sit down with my nephew and watch the entire series over again.

ABrown 04-28-2011 11:55 AM

Me personally, I'm on the Fast Forward episodes right now. But I'm always up for discussing whatever episodes anyone else it currently at.

Redeemer 04-28-2011 12:08 PM

Well sense I jst got home from college and I dont go back till June, I think I might have jst enough time to sqeeze a episode or two in a week:lol:

Sounds almost perfect to me. But, I think we should add that last ep of the season to the previous week, then possibly take a 1-week breather before starting the next season. Season 5 and 7/8 are user's choice, I guess. I plan to do 6 of the 12 S5 eps per week (partly to just get it over with ASAP :P) and either split S7/8 in half or do 5 a week and Turtle Forever that third week..

Always gotta dwell on the negative, eh, cybercubed?

And, I'll correct you when your memory tries to make a fool of you. Deal? :P

Just as a suggestion I have been doing my own watch through and am currently up to season 4.

Here is a list of the episodes in order:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...03%29_episodes

And here is a list of what episodes are on what US DVD releases:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage...9_DVD_releases

I have found actually watching them in order versus just what is on the DVD makes the story better as I have done both! :tsmile:

gobo 04-28-2011 01:53 PM

My list is cooler. :tcool:

I concede it completely is :twink:

A little *too* Raph 04-28-2011 02:13 PM

I'd be down for it.

Forgive me for asking as I know I've seen it on here before, but where can I get the foreign DVD releases of the seasons that weren't released in the US?

You can try eBay or EzyDVD.com. An actual Aussie might be able to give you more suggestions though. ^_^

A little *too* Raph 04-28-2011 02:55 PM

Thanks Gobo!

gobo 04-28-2011 03:48 PM

US eBay doesn't have them, but AussieBay should have them.

Ouch, my friend...just ouch.

As others have said, I just finished running through the 4Kids series myself, and with also re-watching episodes here and there with OldmanWinters for commentaries, I'm gonna be tapped out.

Oh...and why can't they release seasons 3 and 4.1 in the US, huh? And season 9 and 10 of the FW series? And Turtles Forever uncut? And Turtles 1: Special Edition? And most of the movies in the Disney Vault!? :D

Shift 04-28-2011 11:16 PM

I've been itching to dive back into it; I just finished my collection with the AUS BTTS disks and UK's Turtles Forever, so I'm down for a runthrough.

Tinuvielsdreams 04-28-2011 11:24 PM

I think we were all thinking alike, I have been gradually re-watching eppys over the last month or so. I haven't been watching them in order necessarily but I am definitely on a kick.
I would jump in when I could, the whole "Book Club" idea is fun

I like this list too, and have not watched them in the correct order before!

So the first 5 episodes by next weekend for discussion it is. I'll keep track of where we are up to on the first post.

Koi 04-29-2011 07:49 PM

When is this thing starting?

Haha, read my above post.

So first 5 episodes by next weekend, if there are any hiccups we can stretch it out. But, hopefully that is a good pace to watch/talk.

GL!

Just got my main projector issue resolved. How much do I need to catch up? Or is everyone progressing slower than originally planned?

lol, the first post said discussion was supposed to open on May 7-8, so I guess that fell apart.

*Shameless Plug Alert*

Anyway, here are a couple of recollections from Jester and me:
