Something cool I noticed in the first movie!
In the first TMNT movie there's a scene where a kid accidently bumps into Tatsu, and then Tatsu says "Go, play" and moves his fingers like they're running. Anyway, after that it cuts to a scene where it shows a kid skateboarding, then the camera pans down, as it's going down there's a sign or something that says "Archie comics" on it, it's blurry, then focuses for a little less then a second, then gets blurry again. I thought that was pretty neat!

Subliminal messaging, wonder how much they paid for the ad. That kind of advertising was supposed to be banned.
They did a research project in the 70's where they put one image of a coke bottle and the words buy coke now in one frame every 30 seconds. No one saw it, but it was there. Coke sales, to say the least, have never been that high since, or ever. I think there were only 2 people in the entire 3000 who were subjected to the research who didn't buy a coke. But they drank alot of water. |
There's nothing wrong with the Archie comic box being there. It's just product placement, and it's in all movies. Not at all relatable to the coke thing you mentioned.
I noticed the Archie comics box right away, but I just found it funny. I was already reading the Archie comics anyways. |
Besides archie did a comic adaption of the movie, and already had the TMNT license from Mirage.
|
Yeah, I just noticed it today. When it was going down I said to myself "hey, that looks like the Archie sign" and I put the tape on Slow-mo and sure enough, it was there.

The show with the most blatant and near continuous product placement is The Sopranos. It's downright distracting at times.
|
If you want to see people over doing it, watch James Bond movies.
|
Josie and the pussycats the movie has them all beat... The movie was one big joke about product placement... and they didn't even get paid for it
|
yeah, i heard that they used all those products without being paid. it was really funny how they did that. it's like a parody of hollywood at large. it's a wonder they didn't get sued...

Are you kidding? The best 'hidden cool' neat thing in the first TMNT was
the kids playing the arcade version of NARC, a true sign of the glory of 1989 that film was! |
Except that the film wasn't made in the 80's.....

They had to start production in 1989 (the year he mentioned) to release it in 1990. Duhh.. |
Yeah I look at it that way too, a lot of the movies released in 1990 kinda fell into that "grey area" so they could almost be considered "80s flicks".
|
So I guess by your logic movies in 1980 are 70's flicks?
|
No, I'm just saying that since just about all the movies that were released in the year 1990 were actually filmed and made in 1989 (or even 1988), one could refer to a movie released in 1990 as an "80s Movie" and not be entirely incorrect. It's a "shades of grey" kinda thing.

Well, most cases anyway. They're already advertising Scary Movie 3 and I don't even think they have a full cast yet. I think that movie will wrap shooting the same week it gets to theatres.
|
Already? heh that is fast...
|
Actually, they're already putting word out for Scary Movie **4** and 3 isnt even out yet.
Apparently 3 will be spoofing stuff like Lord of the Rings, and 4 will be spoofing super-hero movies. |
Well I liked the first two, I'l probably like these too.
