All reds? or various colors?
Do u like the TMNT in all red? or various colors bandanna's,pade etc?
I always liked the different colors...just me. |
Four Raphs? I pass. Red bandannas are not any more 'realistic'.
|
I like my comics red, that much I can say with certainty. As for everything else, it depends on tone. A dark cartoon/film would be great with red masks, but the more humor based turtle media is better suited in varied colors. Can't say I like one better than the other as a whole, but rather for different things. I grew up on the colors, but my favorite medium is the comics... So, that's the best I can do.

But I think it makes more sense logically. Or about as much sense as wearing bandanas over your eyes can be. Actually a ninja wearing any kind of bright coloring seems stupid to me simply from a stealth standpoint. However, considering they are all of the same clan, a certain uniformity seems more likely than multicolor bandanas. I like the red bandana. It represents the medium I most enjoy about the franchise. |
I'll save time and paraphrase what I posted on the IDW forums:
There is no sense in the TMNT having different colored bandannas. None. I don't say this as a Mirage purist, I strictly say this out of logic and good sense. I mean, hell, give them all BLACK bandannas (or no bandannas) if you must, but whatever they should be adorned with it should not be rainbow/mood-colored ones. Unless the TMNT universe in question will be so drastically different from the Mirage universe that the TMNT are no longer a ninja clan (I'm actually a supporter of the "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" title for the rainbow-bandannaed TMNT... as they're not ninjas in that and the storylines in those basically make them nonsense superheroes or vigilantes or something equally rubbish), ninja clans have one color (or no color at all). As soon as you enter into account a ninja clan with members all picking different mood-colors for their bandannas to make metrosexual fashion statements or to say, "I'm different!" then the whole thing becomes a sham. I don't want the TMNT to be a sham, do you? "But I have trouble telling them apart when they don't have different colored bandannas!!!" #1: A lot can be achieved in artistic variation of the Turtles in body types, facial features, and even skin tones (though varying the skin colors too much becomes odd when it's too drastic... they're all supposed to be red-earred sliders and brothers, and it's not like you'd ever see a brown red-earred slider come out of one egg and a forest green red-earred slider come out of the one next to it). And it's not often that you see a Turtle without his trademark weapon anyway. #2: It's possible you're a moron. Sorry. "But in all the TMNT spinoff universes they have different colored bandannas!!!" #1: Now with IDW that's no longer the case, is it? #2: It's neither the source material's (in which they all wore red) fault or any reflection on the source material. #3: The spinoff universes are geared for little kids and otherwise had to be toy conscious (you know, "buy me the blue one, Mommy!" and this whole kind of New Kids on the Block-esque deal where little girls can bond/fawn over the one that best suits their mood, etc.)... so why support commercialism, when it's contrary to the spirit of what you're following? "Aw, c'mooon, guys... I really, really, really liked the children's cartoons when I was like 6 and to me Leo will always be blue, Mikey orange, and Donnie purple!!!" #1: You can get all of those cartoons on DVD and rekindle the sanctity of your childhood at your leisure. #2: Chances are if you're on this forum you're already out of the target audience/demographic for TMNT in the mass media, whether you're talking about movies or new cartoons or whatever. The new generation of toddlers and little kids do not care about your childhood -- why should they? "Who CARES what color their bandannas are?!?" You should. That is, if you don't want your TMNT to be a sham. |

It's not wrong to imagine teenagers would want to be different and stand out from one another, especially when you're 4 brothers living together. Colored bandannas would be a nice outlet for that, and a good teenage story line. When the TMNT are older, I could totally see them ditching the colors for all red. It is more mature, there is no debating that point. Of course, all that is just hypothetical as we all know which route the creators went. I do like all red, don't get me wrong. It's just that I can see colored bandannas working as well, especially during the "teenage" years. Revan, good points, but I must say - is it anymore stealthy to wear red than say, dark purple? If we're arguing steath, then they really should just be wearing black bandannas. |

I'm ok with either one. But I guess I'll go with the colors just because it's what I'm used to.

I prefer all red:tsmile: and find the TMNT with colored bandannas to cheesy. Cowabunga dude:roll:
|
I support Andrew's ninja clan statement. People who are super into the colored headbands are either avid OT fans or never picked a favorite turtles based off anything but color. I think most kids did that. I like the turtles for their personalities and telling them apart with red headbands would be even easier in a cartoon or movie because their voice would give them away.
|
Red all the way. I don't mind the colored bandanas, but they look awfully goofy sometimes when I really look at them.
|
I don't have much preference either way. They're all green (my favorite color). I voted for the different colors. :trazz:
|
RED RED RED. It makes more sense to have some uniformity in the group. Plus it makes them look more badass, IMO. Though, black wouldn't have been a bad choice either.
|
If there was a "both" option, I'd choose that. I love both for various reasons.I fell in love with the TMNT as a kid watching the original toon, so colors always will be my first love for the guys. That said, I LOVE all red and think it makes sense for a lot of reasons. Overall, I think they look more menacing in red.
|
I'm for all-red. I like the uniformity of it and I think it represents the whole clan and togetherness well.
On a side note, wasn't it Kevin and Peter who came up with the turtles' colors? |

Red for me. No Ifs or Buts as The Joker says at Arkham Asylum video game.

They look cool i guess. Espacially when the wind waves the bandanas. Just like Usagi Yojimbo's ears. |
Personally, I'll accept either one depending on the mood of the comic/cartoon/movie/etc.
|
I say the Turtles all wear full ninja garb...I mean, what's more out in the open than for giant Turtles.
Oh, and Andrew, not that I like it, are the Turtles really "blood brothers"? I mean what are the odds of the 4 pet shop turtles actually being genetic brothers. As much as I hate NM saying so (because it craps on families by ADOPTION just to make the female turtle a viable love interest...yuck.) it makes sense that they aren't blood brothers. Although, how much color variation is there in sliders? BUSLADY!?! Edit: As for which I prefer, I agree with Powder and others who say depends on the Turtles... |
To be fair, i'll take either or. Should be a 'I don't really mind' option. :P I dig the red for the comics, the more mature audience, say, and coloured bandanas for the cartoons. if it comes down to a movie, then its pretty much always going to be aimed at kids, so I guess colours, but if they were to go for a more mature, darker natured movie then give me all red. So yeah, what Aelia said! I do prefer the comics more than any other medium, so red got my vote...

I like the idea of all red simply because it reminds me more of red ear slider turtles with the red markings on the sides of their heads.:)
Them being like that gives them more of that look. |
Here's what I have to say: Even though I voted for colored bandanas, I wouldn't mind if we saw both elements. They could start wearing red, that is until Splinter can't tell who's who anymore.:tlol: Then they would get their colored masks. Then maybe, as they get older, instead of masks, they'll have colored spandex outfits. Then they would look like REAL ninjas.:tsmile:

The best scenario for them in the new movie is this. Have the turtles wear the individual colors for most of the movie. Have Splinter wear his Red robe. Then, have Splinter beat up and kidnapped. In the process, tearing some of his outfit off and onto the floor. The turtles come in, swear their vengeance for their master. See a piece of his clothing, and tear it into 4 badanas to wear in honor of their master. Then, have the final fight on a rooftop, with all 4 turtles wearing red. So iconic, I get chills just thinking about it! Then switching back after the fight. Best of both worlds. |

I feel for the cartoons and toys they obviously make the right decision to give them colored bandanas. I doubt the original cartoon would have been a success if they all had red bandanas.
For the comics, it never matters. They're in black and white anyway! At least besides Vol. 2 and the IDW comics. |

So I cannot choose that poll! :tconfuse::tconfuse::tgrin:!! |
Coincidentally, I've been reading through the Archie series and read No. 58 today that explains why they chose different colors in the Archie Universe.

I'm all for the Turtles dropping anything resembling ninja garb and wearing cool early 90's rockstar duds like white sneakers and jean vests.
Naw, just kidding. Like many others here, it really depends on the version. |

I grew up with the multi-colored bandanas as seen in the cartoons, the movies, ect. but when I started reading the Mirage comics I got used to telling the Turtles apart by their behaviors and of course their weapons. That being said I could care less either way. Besides society has grown accustomed to the TMNT having those distinct colors, and I'm pretty sure that as time goes on they'll keep those colors forever.
|
All red is okay, but I kinda prefer the different colors. I like how each color can reflect or represent the character's personality. For example, Raph is a hothead, so it's appropriate that he'd have red, ya know?
