Infestation 2 affecting TMNT

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/idw-...-2-111012.html

There is the link to the story and it looks like we will at least be getting two issues of the new TMNT from Tristian! Should be fun, I enjoyed their last cross over so hope this one is as much fun.

junkboy 10-12-2011 03:13 PM

I was hoping Tristan to write in a mini series of his own if not for the main series, not for an event related title. I am not a big fan of events.
Still will be getting Infestation main issues and TMNT related issues ofc.

TristanHuwJones 10-12-2011 03:25 PM

Just so you know, I started writing this before I knew what the core event was. You won't HAVE to read the Infestation books if you only want the Turtles one, but there are some amazing writers attached there, so they could be great!

junkboy 10-12-2011 03:41 PM

Well at least the main topic of Infestation 2 is something i would like.
All those Lovecraftian stuff.
As i said i will be buying the main Infestation books and I guess i will be buying Ghostbusters-related books too.

It will be great to read your work again Tristan, btw.

Powder 10-12-2011 05:32 PM

Not huge on the idea of the story, but Tristan's great so I'm sure that will make up for anything I'm not hip to.

TristanHuwJones 10-12-2011 06:03 PM

I'm trying to channel as much Hellboy and BPRD as possible with a twist of Alien. What I've written is pretty standalone, but the people who've stuck with me will see some things here and there that others won't ;)

LeoNerdo 10-12-2011 06:23 PM

Sounds kinda cool. I ignored the first infestation cause I had kinda stopped reading IDW books when I got bored w/ Transformers. But I may check out some of the other stuff now that TMNT & Ghostbusters have me hooked.

Andrew NDB 10-12-2011 07:13 PM

Will pick it up, of course. Any teasers you can give us, Tristan?

TristanHuwJones 10-12-2011 07:21 PM

As the script stands right now, the known character I have written the least of in the past makes an appearance, as does a new version of someone I created.

Cowabunga Carl 10-12-2011 07:22 PM

I enjoyed the first Infestation series. I ended up picking up all those books, so I'll be getting this series too. I'm just really excited that we will be having Tristan back on Turtles.

ToTheNines 10-12-2011 08:13 PM

I saw this on facebook and flipped. So glad to have you back on board, man. How's this artist you're working with?

"Written the least of" means you at least wrote them in a small role correct? Cause there's a lot of known characters you never got your hands on.

I'll guess... Stockman's robot body :P

Razorback?

Razorback?

Kinda hope this doesn't affect the main TMNT story...

I know it seems odd now since we're still in the middle of the first arc, but give it some time and I'm sure the new IDW universe will be ready for all this interdimensional whackiness.

No! It's gotta be Lauren (in a yellow jumpsuit, just to be hilarious!)

JK :tlol:

TristanHuwJones 10-12-2011 09:36 PM

It'll actually stand on its own pretty well I think. Tom and Bobby are two of the best dudes anyone could ask to work with and for and have shared a little bit of what is coming up with me, and it's safe to say that this story is going to be something more along the lines of a two part "Tales of the TMNT" story. It fits in, just not quite where it's scheduled to come out, so people who haven't read the ongoing so far can certainly read this without feeling lost. I've also been given a pretty tremendous amount of freedom in terms of creativity, but Bobby's been great at keeping me in check when things go a little wonky.
Mark is an amazingly nice dude, too, and his samples for this story are nothing short of incredible. If you dig Hellboy, you're going to like this.

ToTheNines: This character was involved in a dialogue. And their appearance in this story is about as big as it was in that one, but it's a very different moral standing for them.

HAHA! Not quite... ;) Although technically, yellow is involved in the character's make-over...

Absolutely stoked to see Tristan back on the title! Hopefully this will lead to more stories. Found some art on Mark Torres" Deviant Art page. Me likey!!!

TristanHuwJones 10-12-2011 10:24 PM

You beat me to 'em!

Slap-Happy 10-12-2011 10:39 PM

Infestation was zombies. Is this supposed to be... Cthulhu?

Also, very excited to see you back on a TMNT book Tristan!

EDIT: Alright, so it is Cthullu type stuff. And I'm already feeling the Hellboy vibes from that first peice of art by Torres. Raph is specifically Mignola-esque.

Wow, that fella sure has been making his rounds across the industry of late! Even Darkwing Duck went up against "Duckthulhu" within the past year!

Duckthullu?

Sounds like a must-read.

I am completely same with you. TF had droven me away from IDW a few years back. Now i am back on board for TMNT and Ghostbusters. And also Jurassic Park.

junkboy 10-13-2011 02:58 AM

I am happy that it is not zombies at the moment. Everywhere is zombies now. Tho it was everytime that eveywhere was zombies. They never get out of fashion. Duh....
Still loving the bastards tho.
But anytime i prefer Lovercraftian stuff over zombies.

That Mark Torres painted TMNT - Cthulhu shot is so great btw. Thanks for sharing.

Ninjinister 10-13-2011 05:55 AM

I think I've voiced this before: I like Lovecraft and Lovecraft references/influences, but when it gets heavy-handed like it's beating you over the head with the references to make sure everyone understands, that it becomes a total turnoff. Yes, this has actually happened in Turtles before and it left a foul taste.

I have trust in Tristan, though (Trustin Tristan?). Always do.

TristanHuwJones 10-13-2011 07:05 AM

I hate this sort of thing too. I deliberately don't reference anything. I've picked things I like, and Lovecraft purist may hate certain aspects of it, but it's a Turtles story first and foremost. Actually, no, it's a horror story first, then a Turtles story, with Lovecraftian overtones. Strong ones.

The group drawing with the red bandanas seems like a promotional drawing or such.

But at page with the other IDW-verse characters fighting the threat, Turtles have colored bandanas. I dunno if this is a promotional page or an actual page from Infestation 2 main book.

azrael 10-13-2011 02:07 PM

I love Lovecraft and TMNT, hopefully this book will rock.

That page seems to make me think that the turtles abandon the red bandanas for a more individual approach

Toby Barrett 10-13-2011 02:09 PM

Seems like just another IDW inconsistancy to add to the tremendous pile, if you ask me...

Thinking the same way. I hope they will all have red bandanas in the final print.

CyberCubed 10-13-2011 02:34 PM

LOL @ colored bandanas.

TristanHuwJones 10-13-2011 03:50 PM

They've definitely got red bandannas in our book...

Venom 10-13-2011 04:06 PM

On a separate note, it's pretty awesome seeing the "Hearts of Steel" Transformers again. :D

Slap-Happy 10-13-2011 04:09 PM

I'm not too much into the Lovecraftian stuff, but I have faith that this book'll be great!

Hearts of Steel was my fave. IDW TF book.
I lost all my interest to TF but i am still loving that mini series so much.

CyberCubed 10-13-2011 04:31 PM

So why do the turtles have colored bandanas there?

The most obvious answer is always right in front of you.

junkboy 10-13-2011 04:35 PM

I guess that is from the main Infestation book.
There was some lack of coordination between the Infestation team and the Turtles comics crew at IDW probably.

Jester 10-13-2011 04:38 PM

depending on how the book is colored, that should be an easy fix.

junkboy 10-13-2011 04:39 PM

I do not enter the IDW forums but probably fans will be telling about this over there.
