What the hell is the glossy/matte DF covers? O.o This is the first I've heard anyone mention this.

Shouldn't ashcan be 1A since it was the first out? U also dont have a 1H? 1H is listed as the second printing of issue 1 on mycomicshop.com. Your list is confusingly incomplete.

Wish I could be getting these Eastman variants but they just aren't at my shop. I'm hoping IDW starts releasing them in an equal ratio with the main Duncan covers.

well, i went by that blog for the issue numbers. oh well. The only two i am missing for #1 is the newsstand and eastman sketch 1:50

however, I did just purchase 2 of the newsstand editions for #2. Anyone have an extra #1 to trade for?

The Matte version is the regular detroit fanfare one. Apparently there was a glossy version made and I have one. I can take pictures if youd like to see

Yes please. First I heard of this and I search for info on IDWs TMNT more then most. You dropped quite the bomb with another mysterious variant.:sick: Mind if I inquire how you found out there were 2 versions? Do you know if they did 1000 of each or is one more rarer then the other? Any further details would be much appreciated.

Also where are you finding your newsstand editions?

ETA - Emailed some folks about the 2 Detroit covers and hears what I found out. Due to a miscommunication with the printer it was originally printed on glossy stock. When the error was discovered it was reprinted on matte as the glossy was no good for artist sketches.

No idea how many of each were were printed but it sounds like a full 1000 run of each.

Ask your shop to start ordering 4 Duncan covers, because the last two issues had the Eastman as the 1:4 variant.

Your shop needs to give the title a chance.

Hell, I wanted to drop TMNT at my local shop because I was going to order all the books at once (actually signed up at another shop) since the guy usually only gets the 2 normal covers, and that evening he messaged me on Facebook asking me to keep the sub with him!

I still have 4 (soon to be 5) other titles with him too. :D

Point is, your shop seems to just be ordering one copy just for you instead of seeing if the new title actually sells in the shop.

Heh, I never really understood the point in variants, I guess I'm just not that much of a collector. I just prefer to follow the story.

As such, all I have are cover A's of all three issues so far.

The thing is, they've had plenty copies of each issue—around ten to fifteen—but I've never gotten one Eastman variant despite jotting that down on the subscription. I think they're just being dicks and taking them for themselves. :\

I should have mentioned it a couple days ago to the one dude who I think owns the store and is the nicest, most professional guy there.

I shot them an email about it and was told that the series has a lot of subscribers at the shop requesting the variants. Maybe they requested them before me, or that doesn't matter (which I think is kinda bogus), or they're giving priority to people with OTHER subscriptions and who are regular buyers, I dunno... Lotsa possibilities. But they said they'd try to supply me with some variants.

But yeah, maybe I oughta just go to another shop. There's a pretty cool one that's actually slightly closer, but it's kind of a small shop, so I don't know if they'd order a bunch of each issue. I'll just have to check it out and ask.

Just snagged the #2 Eastman color variant for $9 at my local shop! I'm surprised and very happy that they still had it.
