IDW Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 sales

I know amazon is usually a good gauge to see how well something is selling. As of right now there are 8 left in stock. In the best selling list it is #46 in Graphic novels and # 14 in Superheroes. I hope this means that sales are at least as good as expected because we need the rest of Vol. 1 and on collected.

idk if that means its doing well. But I know the comics are doing pretty good from what I hear from the local vendors. But Im sure they will release the entire volume one eventually. But remember the economy is still in rough shape so tmnt is doing really well, all things considered

Oh and this might be a good indicator http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...2851634&sr=1-2

One of those 8 better be mine on the way!

EDIT: Ooh, I should have mine tonight! :D

I just posted this at IDW forums:

Good news, the Ultimate Collection is sold out at distributor level, and we'll most likely be doing another printing.

This bodes well for the future of these books. Signs point to us doing Ultimate Collections for all the Eastman and Laird Mirage Vol. 1 issues, including- notably- City at War, most likely broken up into two volumes.

More news as it is solidified.

(and FYI, Kevin's been held up by his recent gallery opening, so we're not quite finished with his new contributions to Ultimate Volume 2. Hopefully we're a couple weeks away from that, and from there it will be about 6 weeks to in store date. So we're probably a couple months away from that hitting stores)

This is very cool. Just got #1 today and just did a quick flip through and it looks great, can't wait to sit down and read it after the kid goes to bed (she will probably get her hands all over it when she's awake). Thanks for the update on #2 as well as news about more coming down the pipe in the future.

This is indeed great news! When will we be seeing the cover Kevin has done for Vol. 2?:tcool:

Before a Vol 3 gets underway, is it possible to have fans decide which 7-8 issues get collected next? There's a lot of confusion whether issues #12-18 will be collected before Return to New York and City at War.

They've said the main focus of the Ultimate Collections will initially consist of the Eastman & Laird collaborative comics, then they'll go from there.

Most of 12-18 are Eastman or Laird stories aside from Mark Martin's #16.

Operative word is "collaborative". That narrows it down quite a bit.

Jim Lawson drew City at War, so I see no difference.

12-18 should be collected as its part of the narrative.

Well then you're an idiot. Eastman and Laird both worked on the story for City at War, making it an Eastman and Laird collaboration.

Between #11 and the first issue of Return to New York, anything the two did was with Dooney or Talbot or whoever, but not with one another. Making those issues not Eastman/Laird collaborations.

That's as clearly as I can spell it out for you.

I'm not saying I want them to skip a bunch of stuff, I'm just trying to explain to you that that's what might happen if Bobby's post is to be taken seriously.

oldschoolturtlesfan 12-02-2011 05:33 PM

Well those last 8 in stock issues at Amazon didn't last long. This is so great. I still can't believe that the entire Vol. 1 might actually get reprinted in such awesome quality. Then hopefully at least tpb all other TMNT volumes.

CyberCubed 12-02-2011 05:53 PM

If they want to skip around they can do so, but for new readers things may not make as much sense if they don't collect in order.

Likewise Tales v.1 should be collected again because Rat King appears in City at War.

I like how Norma Editorial (Spanish publishing) collect Vol.1. They printed TMNT Vol.1 #1-3, Raphael, #4-7, Donatello, #8 (remake without Cerebus), #9, Mike, Leo, #10-11. Then TMNT Vol.1 #19-21, Tales v.1 #2 (Nobody), TMNT Vol.1 #28, Tales v.1 #4 (Rat King), and then City at War arc (#48-62).

Also this guys put in the end of their books all cover variants of each issue they printed.

BTW, some issues from CaW was published without duoshade tones =|

azrael 12-02-2011 08:02 PM

Awesome news cant wit till the next volume comes out.

Spitfire 12-03-2011 01:07 AM

CAW collection, I'm in. I hope the next volumes sell as well cause it'd be nice to have it all.

azrael 12-03-2011 10:33 AM

I hope this puts IDW's rear in gear on releasing these books.

This. :tsmile:

Redeemer 12-03-2011 01:33 PM

I jst wish they would be released in the order the stories were intended to be read in

pannoni1 12-03-2011 02:00 PM

I went to my Barnes & Noble and did notice a few copies of #4 way in the back of the comics section. It shows that this series is for real even though there's SO much competition in the way! I'm curious what the actual numerical figure for the first few issues are so far in terms of copies shipped/sold.

PizzaPower 12-04-2011 04:18 AM

what issues does the IDW graphic novel cover coming out in Feb?

I'm not completely certain what order they'll be printing them in, but issues 8-11 as well as the Mike, Don and Leo microseries issues.

PizzaPower 12-04-2011 06:24 AM

what about the first 4 issues?

LeoNerdo 12-04-2011 10:16 AM

I think we're talking about two different things here....

This thread is about the new Ultimate Collection Hardcover
http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...3018880&sr=8-1

The first IDW series tpb in Feb. I believe will just be issues #1-4
http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...3018880&sr=8-3

PizzaPower 12-04-2011 12:20 PM

ok thanks for clearing that up for me

Redrumh2o 12-05-2011 10:51 AM

This is now posted on the Amazon page for the book

"Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

Mine came in good condition, although it was just put in a large box with little amount of packing materials. These books are heavy duty so I cant imagine them getting too ruined.

Also...would a second printing have a different cover?? I would assume so as it would get fools like me to buy another lol

azrael 12-05-2011 05:07 PM

The 1st review on amazon said there were dents all over it.

Wow, I got lucky, I got it in prestine condition! I couldn't have asked for better condition

l

I don't understand that at all

CyberCubed 12-06-2011 12:29 AM

So what I gather from this thread....don't order the book from amazon?

I thought they were also selling it for the cheapest, correct?

TheCanadiandrome 12-06-2011 01:27 PM

i'd say order from Amazon, other than like what one person, everyone else got the book in good to prestine condition. i never base my decisions whether or not to order from somewhere based on one person's bad dealings

LeoNerdo 12-06-2011 02:05 PM

i had mine pre-ordered from amazon, and it came in great condition as well.

Abnormal Freak 12-06-2011 02:21 PM

I've never gotten a single book, the IDW collection included, that has arrived in less than pristine condition, and I've gotten soft- and hardcover books from them for years—mostly using the free media mail shipping, which means the books spend about a week out and about before arriving in my mailbox. I've never had an issue with Amazon's packaging.

John Pannozzi 12-07-2011 01:26 PM

I'm a bit worried. It's been two weeks since the book's street date, and yet my LCBS STILL hasn't gotten my copy in yet. I'm starting to worry that the copy I pre-ordered is non-existant due to the book selling out so fast, if that makes any sense.

I'd say buy online and be done with it. If they can't get it to you in a timely manner then they lose your money. Simple as that.

King Suck 12-07-2011 03:21 PM

Anyone know the print run for the regular edition of Vol 1?

Personally, I'd rather collect older prints of the series if getting paperback, and I'd probably have to stick to auctions for stuff like that. I'll stick to the Ultimate collection for now, and can't wait for volume 2 of that. Already put in my preorder after I received my copy of volume 1 last week.

Ch'rell 12-14-2011 01:14 PM

My copy of the Ultimate hardcover vol. 1 came from Amazon and was definitely damaged. It was just in a big empty box with a single inflated bag thing to protect it. Pretty crappy, but I got a refund, so I guess that's okay.
