TMNT Micro-Series #3 Donatello
Hey everyone, some news regarding the upcoming Donatello (and Leonardo) one-shots from IDW...
The artist for the Donatello Micro-Series will be Valerio Schiti. The picture shown below is a pin-up of Donatello that Valerio did (but this is not planned to be the cover of any of the Don issues). Ross Campbell, the artist originally slated for the Donatello Micro-Series, is now expected to do the Leonardo Micro-Series in April. http://www.tmnt-ninjaturtles.com/blo...ti-219x300.jpg |
Ross is gonna do Leo?! RAD!

I can't really tell from that sketch, but I'm not at first glance too thrilled with that artist doing Donnie's. I guess I'll have to wait until we get some more work from him... |
Good news on both issues! Donatello's artist reminds me a bit of Chris Allan...
|
Schiti is doing the Infestation 2 D&D book and he did the prelude pages in the Infestation Ashcan.

Wow, these micro-series issues have certainly gotten me more excited than the entire first issue arc!
|
When does this issue come out? And this issue is supposed to tie into the Infestation arc, right?
::EDIT:: Did some looking around and found out it comes out in Feb. So that answers one question, but the other still remains. |

As for a Donatello tie-in to Infestation 2, if that's true I'm unaware of it. Everything I've read about Infestation 2 doesn't talk about tying in to the individual titles' story arcs themselves but only the Infestation 2 labeled issues. Admittedly, though, I'm not completely sure on this. |
Damnt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Why is my favorite turtle's microseries coming out last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! ! Oh well.......They save the best for last :D

No connection to Infestation. That's about as stand alone as they come.
2/29 is target date for Don, which we're looking good on so far, barring Diamond problems. Valerio is awesome. |

Valerio's definitely got style... it's more the pose and expression on the first picture that has me going, "Oh, it's Turtlecest Don" than anything else. The full body shot looks pretty striking, though, like Chris Allan with an edge.
|
That drawing of Mike and Don is a bit too creepy for me.
|
I thought the same thing you did, Andrew.
|
Just got all the Donatello #3 covers posted. Enjoy! :tgrin:
|
I sure do love the covers to this issue, as an artist who goes gaga for good lighting I can say these are beauties.
|
I really like the alternate cover.
|
Man I love that alternate cover, very cool!!
|
In an "Oh my god, I can't believe I didn't notice that moment", I just realized that the machine Donnie's holding in the Variant Cover is just like the one from the original Donatello Micro!
Wonder where Donatello gets an arm blaster weapon this time around? :D |

does Donatelo takes place directly after issue 7?
|
Directly after #6 actually.
|

then why they release it after 7? if it takes place after 6 but before 7 then it should have been released before the release date of 7. |
Because life is unfair sometimes. We'll overcome this trial.
|
All of the Micros have been released after the issue they precede. It doesn't so much effect the on-going that you'll even notice.
|
They are all one-shots anyway. The only issue that has to be read is the Leonardo one which will continue to #10...same as Mirage.
|
i love donnie, so i'm super stoked to pick this issue up when it hits. the cover art looks pretty sweet too. i liked the arm cannon nod the the original donatello one shot :)
|
Nice preview of DONATELLO at CBR:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...eview&id=11575 Thanks, everyone! Tom |
Nice preview,
Spoiler:
Does this really take place after #6 though? The summary sais Stockman's using the fair to look for a device to track down the turtles but he already made the mousers? |
I like the art a lot. Very cartoonish. Feels just like an episode of the old show, complete with a mad scientist and his crazy invention.
|
Don's screenname: DUZ_MACHINES_84. I LOVE IT!
As always, thanks for the preview, Tom. Valerio Schiti did a great job penciling the issue. And the colors are very vibrant. I can't wait to pick my copy up. It looks to be a very fun story. |
I'm loving that toony art style on Donny's comic! Valerio Schiti is totally schway!
Also, "KIRBY_FAN01". Is that the username for Kevin Eastman or Peter Laird? :-) |

Ok, I am thoroughly excited for the Donatello one-shot. :D
|
I'm really impressed by the art, it's fantastic. Don't really dig what he does with the expressions in the turtles' faces, but everything else is just great.
Once again, we've got a turtle walking among people, lots of people, in the daylight. It's pretty much become normal in IDW, and it doesn't look like it will stop happening anytime soon. |
Their coats and fedoras are like Superman's glasses.
|
What a sick preview! I love all of those shout outs...Jordan Perry, Duz_Machines 84, Kirby_fan. So cool! I really like the way IDW is portraying Donnie. It's cool how both Mikey and now Don's one-shot showcase how different each of the brothers are when they aren't kicking ass.
"To me, my bo staff." - love it!!! Only thing is, he's clearly a big Turtle under that trench coat. That's my only gripe. Donnie says "he's a ninja" so it will be easy to blend - no ninja skills being utilized there! I had it in my head that he was going to be watching from the ceiling rafters or something. |
