New Year's Resolutions?

Got any? Mine I guess would be to get back in shape. I stopped working out last year when I broke my leg and since then the weight has really piled on. You?

TheCanadiandrome 12-31-2011 07:55 PM

i dunno, maybe to get healthier. what with my Aunt's recent health crisis with Cancer, one should try to stay healthy

愛 12-31-2011 08:00 PM

I've decided to cut down on the fast food and drink more water this year. I also am going to join a gym and work on losing the poundage. My weight is...unsatisfactory, to say the least.

papa_smurf73 12-31-2011 08:16 PM

My new years res has always been to quit saying curse words, but my line of business pretty much keeps me from making a solid commitment to it. So maybe this year I'll try to stop saying one particular curse word... Maybe that will take? In any case, this year isn't over quite yet so..... $h#t!. $h#t!. $h#t!. Had to get it out of my system. :tlol:

Hope everyone has a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To stay alive next year...

oldmanwinters 12-31-2011 09:26 PM

I plan to continue rollin' with 1280 x 800 like I did throughout 2011.

pannoni1 12-31-2011 10:00 PM

Just to expect the worst and hope for the best, and simply love your friends and avenge against all evil (weight gain is an example of this oh-so-common resolution). But I suggest as TMNT fans is to truly start getting excited for the Nick series that was announced back in 2010 now that we're turning the calendar!

That's all you can ask for in this dimension. It's a shame by the end of January most New Year's resolutions are forgotten; what were your resolutions for the past year (if you can even remember?) And if you did, were you able to succeed?

mcauley 12-31-2011 10:19 PM

To add something to my collection that makes Archon_Turtle just as jealous as I am over most of his items...

mysterycolor 12-31-2011 10:24 PM

tp do everything i can to become even more healthy and stay seizure free :)

BubblyShell22 01-01-2012 08:16 AM

To try and update the fan fics I've kept on hold for so long. Key word: Try. Other than that, I just resolve to try and have a shelltastic year. Yeah, there are going to be ups and downs, but the best thing we can all resolve to do is to get through it the best way we can.

SherlockJr 01-01-2012 12:14 PM

I have two:

1. Exercise more. Not to lose weight (I'm quite petite at 115 lb.), just to be healthy.

2. Write more. Seeing as my major is in Creative Writing, I need to actually finish the stories and reviews I start to practice.

IamtheNorm 01-01-2012 01:15 PM

Mine are to loose 10-20lbs and keep it off
Finish School
Get a job as a Game Designer (hopefully at one of my top two choices)
and to keep on keeping on

Live a healthy and peaceful life.:)

Candy Kappa 01-01-2012 04:19 PM

My resolution is to stop making resolutions I wouldn't keep anyway

I thought that was last year. How the shell did you screw that up that you needed to repeat it? Easter resolutions? O_o

The Stryker 01-01-2012 06:13 PM

To move on and live a healthy and productive life.

To continue to tell idiots on here to shut the hell up when they say stupid things.

Storm Eagle 01-01-2012 07:54 PM

I don't bother with resolutions, but all I'm hoping for is to get through the entire year without getting a ticket of any kind. Last year would have been perfect if it weren't for that one parking ticket I got in February. I think it would be okay if I got a ticket and I'm able to fight it and get found not guilty though. Also, for my goal to count, I'll have to be driving all year.

SassyGal 01-01-2012 11:27 PM

I think my resolution is to continue looking forward and leaving the past in the past, where it belongs. After watching some family drama unfold between my mom and her brother regarding my nana and her transition from independent living to living in a nursing home, I have seen the horrible effects of holding onto to past wrongs and grudges. Learning from our mistakes is healthy, but holding onto anger is self-destructive. Watching my mom's already fractured family dynamic implode on itself has been a HUGE wake up call for me.

I'm also going to start journalling again. 2012: The year of self reflection for me! :)

BubblyShell22 01-02-2012 08:38 AM

Wow. That sounds like a good resolution, Sassy. Good luck. Journaling is a good thing to do. That way, if you're angry about the drama in your life, you can get it out by writing about it. I haven't really written in a journal for a long time, but when I did, it really helped me.

Chipzard 01-08-2012 11:38 PM

My New Year Resolution is cut down on texting, cut down on using the computer/Internet, focus on improving my relationship w my girlfriend, try to get together w old friends to hang out, try some new hobby I guess, eat better foods too! Cut down on movies, save more money, so I can go visit my gf, and get her something special for Valentine, wish me luck! :tgrin:

BubblyShell22 01-09-2012 04:50 PM

Good luck on all of that, Chip. I really hope you follow through with it.

Chipzard 01-14-2012 06:23 PM

Sigh yeah...my gf said I'm doing better, making some improvements, even my mom too! Still focusing on trying to get a job and so on, trying to save money, doing the best I can. Cuz, my gf coming down for Valentine next month, to celebrate anniversary of 1 yr w me, hope things goes well, of course I know, cuz we talk plans about our future anyway :D

pannoni1 01-14-2012 06:37 PM

Think of Lent, Ramadan, and Yom Kippur as occassions to reinforce your New Year's resolutions. I hope to finally reveal to my parents and friends that I'm a TMNT fan, since I've kept it secret (except for the occasional passing glance) ever since I joined this board. I fear that they tell me as "why are you acting like you're 6 years old?", when in fact there are lots of things to appreciate as an adult on here.

But my ultimate resolution is simple: find a first date. I'm entering my late 20s, but have still NEVER dated a single lady (don't give me those Irma cliches, please!) Preferably, one that can at least tolerate TMNT (not necessarily a fan, as long as it doesn't annoy her). None of those overrated "get in shape, clean the house, find a better job" resoltuions. Think of this time of year (and always) to plan where you want to dream where you want to be next.

BubblyShell22 01-14-2012 07:04 PM

Ugh. I always hated Lent. I never really understood it and don't practice it anymore. But I see where you're coming from. Good luck on your resolution. But my advice would be to not rush the dating scene. Sometimes when you're not looking it'll come your way. Just be patient.

Me too! Ever since I got that piece stuck in my throat... >_<

Katie 01-14-2012 08:27 PM

I've never really understood the need to hide any likes or dislikes from family. Of all people you should be comfortable being yourself around them. I mean, I'm sure my family has no clue as to why their now adult daughter continues to love ninja turtles, but they accept it.

And really I could care less what anyone thinks about what I like and don't. If you don't like who I am, then don't hang around. Be yourself and be happy.

My only resolution is to be there for those I love. I figure this is an easy one to keep. It's going to be a year of changes, but it will be a good year.

BubblyShell22 01-15-2012 08:19 AM

That's actually a really good resolution, Katie and one that I'm sure you'll be able to keep. Good for you.

Samhain 02-17-2012 03:48 PM

Well, in staying with my New Years resolution I have lost 18 pounds since making this thread!:D Hard work but it's worth it. Here's hoping to many more lost during the year.

BubblyShell22 02-18-2012 08:46 AM

Yeah, I've stuck with mine, too. I managed to finish a fan fic I'd been keeping on hold for a few years. Yay!

gobo 02-18-2012 01:01 PM

Haven't died yet! :D

Hero 02-18-2012 02:28 PM

I don't celebrate New Year myself, so I don't do resolutions. As an alternative I wait for lent to start.

For lent I am going to give up the usual bad foods I should not be eating and adjust to a better diet regime. I will also be giving up a few other very personal things, but they need to be given up.

I hope those who do resolutions have been successful in keeping them

BubblyShell22 02-18-2012 05:06 PM

I don't practice Lent anymore because I don't believe in it. However, I wish you luck on your promises, Hero.
