Format of new TMNT game

I'm sure a number of you have played Secret of Mana (the original). Do you think konami could pull something off to where all four turtles could be on screen at the same time and be functional fighting characters? In fact I wouldn't mind incorporating a number of features from SOM. The progression and strengthening of characters as the game goes on, no set levels, just an entire city to roam around, tons of bosses etc, etc, etc.

Stefano 04-27-2003 02:40 PM

cool. i liked that game. but i duoght they will do that

Karpo_007 04-27-2003 03:43 PM

It's most probably a 3d beat em up.

And I'll be perefectly happy with that :)

BigThew 04-27-2003 06:43 PM

I want somethin like Metal Gear Solid 2 without the Movie part
mixed with the old NES and Genesis arcades

Reznorite420 04-27-2003 06:44 PM

If this is just like another one of these modern games out today, I'll hate TMNT forever.

Yeah, that'd be fine with me too. And it's almost certainly gonna be that--I mean, look at all the Turtle games so far. They were, (with the exception of Tournament Fighters, which was a fighting game--another genre that works for TMNT) pretty much all beat em ups. I doubt they'd risk anything too different, (at least at this point in time).

Tokka-B 04-27-2003 08:49 PM

Hmmm, the gba version will undoubtedly be a beat-em-up. PC....probly not. And the next generation consoles it is hard to tell....

Karpo_007 04-28-2003 06:45 AM

I have no doubt that there wil be only 2 diffrent games, One for consoles+ PC and one for GBA. Thats how konami has doen with all their games, like Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2: substance. PC version will be just a port. It will of course be the best looking version, but Il probably buy it for PS2 or Gamecube.

TMNT571 04-28-2003 07:16 AM

this is the link to the konami forum u might be able to find out there. So far the TMNT konami site only has the ninja star game on it no info.

Eye of Sarnath 04-28-2003 01:41 PM

I'll buy the PC version cause I don't have any consoles. Not that I mind, because PCs own consoles.

Dinny 04-28-2003 02:10 PM

I guess that the GBA version will be like the old arcade and SNES games

PWDESAI 04-28-2003 05:46 PM

Peter laird commented on the new game, something about free roaming or something.

Stefano 04-28-2003 06:01 PM

cool. No matter what the game will be sweet. I hope we get to play as casey

Peanut 04-28-2003 09:20 PM

As long as it doesn't end up like MGS FF or any of those other crap games I'll be fine. I could see a GTA style world. That would be cool. Except you can't steal cars or shoot poor old ladies. Have Purple Dragon gang members walking around the city. The missions can advance the story and you don't have to do them if you want. Of course they would have to render a sewer under the city or it would suck. I think it would be cool in that style and I don't even like GTA.

greensborohill 04-29-2003 10:09 AM

GTA!!

That would be awesome!! During the day you can only hang out on roof tops or in the sewer or you run the risk of being caught by the cops and what not. You can use trench coats to conceal yourself though. At night you have the freedom to roam the streets, but watch out for those damn purple dragons. Like you said, complete the missions at your own pace, and go enjoy. Have the battleshell come pick you up, or maybe use the cycle or slider. It would be awesome!

Karpo_007 04-29-2003 01:27 PM

Heh dont bet on it. The game has been in the works for a year, 3d beat em up is a best bet. About PC owning consoles, true only on performance. Graphics are better of course, and sometimes even framerate, but playing with a big TV on your couch is much more commortable. And since GC has usually better graphics and framerate than PS2 in games that are released for both, GC version seems like the choice for now.

Eye of Sarnath 04-29-2003 01:48 PM

Mind you, there's nothing a console can do that a computer can't.

Krangfan 04-29-2003 02:18 PM

As long as it comes to GCN, Xbox, or GBA, I'll be happy :D

Tokka-B 04-29-2003 02:58 PM

Consoles have much better game controllers, plus I haven't seen a wireless for the PC yet...And framerate depends on your computer, with GCN it is always the same great 60 frames per sec....oh and loading time...zippo. 8)

Eye of Sarnath 04-29-2003 03:58 PM

You seem to miss the point. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean they don't have it.

AMEN, BROTHA!

Tetsu Deinonychus 04-29-2003 09:52 PM

Actually I prefer consoles. Better gameplay. To each his own.

Then you must live under a rock, because I've seen in pretty much every computer store I go to and every catalog that I look in has cordless keyboards, and this was over 2 years ago, mind you.

Even without that, there ARE joypads and loysticks for PCs as well.

In any case, the type of control for whatever means of playing is irrelevant. What matters is the games themselves and the content in them.

Better gameplay? In what way?

(I don't mean to start a war here...)

Tetsu Deinonychus 04-29-2003 10:16 PM

A Joypad beats a mouse and Keyboard. A TV beats a monitor. The Games that come out for consoles are generally more gameplay heavy than PC games. And have more interactivity and more variety. Also I love the conveniece of just popping in the disk or cartrige (both Disks and carts rock!) instead of harddrives and all that "Install" crap. I hate having to install things on a harddrive.(I hope X-Box and PS2's harddrives aren't used like that, I'm glad Gamecube isn't a harddrive system). And, that wonderful console smell that brings me right back to childhood.

PCs have their charm too though. Cross-compatibility, Non-gaming uses, better for online games. I just prefer console games. (And Arcade!)

So why do you prefer PC?

Peanut 04-30-2003 12:50 AM

Yeah console all the way. With a console you KNOW all the games will work. Computers are just too much hassle with installing programs and what not. As far as gameplay goes....well I'd like to see any computer game beat out Super Mario Bros.

Karpo_007 04-30-2003 06:43 AM

It pretty much a matter of opinion. I use my PC to play games like Rainbow six: Raven shield, and conosles for beat em ups RPG's and things like that. Like I said before, I prefer playing games like this on my couch with a big TV screen and sound coming from Stereo system.

Of course it's a matter of opinion, and all we're doing is discussing our opinions in a mature way. This could set an example to the people who can't stop arguing.

Eye of Sarnath 04-30-2003 02:01 PM

You're all just in denial! None of you know how obviously superior the PC is to consoles! PCs can do everything a console can, plus some!

but if the controller hurts your hand to use, and some buttons are too hard to reach, and the cord is too short, or the rumble feature is too strong, or the controller is too heavy, it can take away from the gameplay big time. :dead:

On the other hand, on a computer, you have several choices for controllers. :D

Oh, and the wireless technology? the SNES had REALLY crappy third-party RF controllers. They sucked, but they were there.

I'm personaly a Console gamer. Computer games tend to get kinda bland for me (so do some console games though). Its also a lot easier for me to pack up my Gamecube and take it with me than it would be to pack up the computer and take it with me.

Sarnath, you great Dill! This is an intelligent discussion. Don't attack the other people's viewpoint and, state your frickin' reasons!
Be more mature like Reznorite, and GWGTrunks, etc.

Eye of Sarnath 04-30-2003 04:00 PM

I don't know why you just won't let me enjoy myself. It's not like I'm actually serious.

Tetsu Deinonychus 04-30-2003 04:03 PM

OK then.

Eye of Sarnath 04-30-2003 04:04 PM

Good.

Tokka-B 04-30-2003 04:05 PM

I'd never use a keyboard to play a game, there are keys you can accidentally press that aren't even in the game, whereas console controllers they make it fit for your hand and all of the buttons are necessary...Good controls in the game make a HUGE difference, because if the game has great gameplay but you can't even control it without reading a million instruction guides and practicing for hours, then the game is awful...hence why most NES games ruled, there was just the d-pad and 2 buttons, with a learning curve of about 3 seconds....Of course if the game was boring then the controls wouldn't be the problem.....Most computers can't even keep up with a solid 60 frames/sec....

Eye of Sarnath 04-30-2003 04:08 PM

Out of curiosity: are you aware that you can use console controllers with computers?

Tokka-B 04-30-2003 04:10 PM

depends on the comp, depends on the controller.

Eye of Sarnath 04-30-2003 04:11 PM

True.

Karpo_007 04-30-2003 04:22 PM

If you want to play the best games, PC is not enough. I own powerfull PC, PS2 and Gamecube. Like I have said before, wich is bet´st depends on the game. Platformers and beat em ups are definetly better on console. Especially if you want to play games with friends.

But for First person shooters, and strategy games PC is a must. Consoles cannot, atleast yet, run an online game that could hold 64 players. So for me it always depends on the game.
