Mayhem's TMNT stuff
Just the best bits imo... if I did everything comic wise, it would be a long and boring set heh. But I should really take better photos/scans of a few of these and get them on CAF or similar too...

some great stuff in there. Congrats. If you ever feel like letting go of that Return to NY page, let me know. I'll give you a fair price.
|
You have some great stuff. I love those layout pages for issue # 1 and that RTNY page revealing Zog is awesome. Always nice to see some new artwork.:D
|
:DSweet Stuff.
|
Thanks... I need to add in the NECRA edition #1 that has art on it, I'll probably do that when my Eastman sketch #1 arrives.
|
Awesome collection man!
|
Some solid oa there. Very nice. :)
Love when new stuff comes wandering out of the void! |
Nice comix :)
|
Now I have both and taken photos... art on the NECRA issue, and my Eastman sketch #1.

who is the Necra artist?
|
Andy Belanger I believe. The art was done at the TMNT launch party. I got it a few months back, I can't remember if that's the correct person heh.
|
Still needed a Detroit Fanfare edition for my #1 set, and this popped up with an inked piece on front, so thought I'd grab it...

Forgot to put in here... piece by Lee Bradley from the London SCC, who worked on some of the Titan UK TMNT stuff.

very cool!
|
I know at least one person will be pleased to see these up... properly scanned in the layout pages I have for issue #1. Will hopefully get more pieces I own properly scanned and uploaded to CAF in the future. The layouts were just a tiny bit larger than A4, so couldn't quite get them completely on the scanner. Still, 98% of the pages are there heh...

Absolutely love the Smash-Up Comic-Con poster.

:o six TMNT#1 layout pages......you greedy sod:P, i also really dig that original artwork of the SDCC09 mirage jam print, you have a great collection there.

The layout pages were sold as two groups of three (doesn't take a genius to figure out the groupings) and I was a bit surprised at the time (I want to say 2005 here) how "little" they actually cost me. By comparison, the Mirage jam print original art was a lot more publicised, on eBay, and I guess open to a lot more people. That cost me roughly the same as what it cost to buy ALL six layout pages! Mirage don't ship outside North America, so I had it sent to a very good friend instead, one that I've been to SDCC with a number of times. So I didn't collect it until just before SDCC 2010, and took it along with me, and ended up showing Michael Dooney that I had it heh. |

Nice collection!

I was looking through a pile of comics, and I found where my copy of Boris the Bear #1 was hiding. Now, if you know your TMNT history, then you might know what the significance of this issue is.
When it comes to this copy, Kevin and Peter had "commented" on it, and so I've scanned it up for you to see ;) http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryp...?piece=1019224 |
I clicked the link:D what a great collection of art you have. Funny I was glancing through Stan's OA on CaF awhile back and quickly noticed a Usagi Yojimbo #127 cover....which it seems you are the proud owner. Congrats on such a great cover. From what I understand, Mr. Sakai keeps most of his published art.
|
Stan keeps all his original pages (bar three, I believe he's let go over the years - one as a wedding present, one as an offer he couldn't refuse, and one as a birthday gift to the guy who runs the Usagi website) but he does sell all the issue covers and painted art for tip-in plates etc.
Given the TMNT and Usagi crossover since the early days, there was no way I wasn't going to buy the Leo/Usagi piece that was in the SDCC program in 2009 for example. And I bought the cover to DH #127 because it was rather badass (Usagi isn't usually shown post battle on a cover) and Stan hadn't gotten another cover I did want back at that moment, so I used the money on that instead. Which reminds me, I have to ask him if he still has THAT cover still now he finally got it back, or whether it's eventually been sold now... |
Unfortunately only thing I own from Mr Sakai(aside from comics) is a print he signed with Miyamoto walking through the snow. But perhaps one day I'll snag something frame worthy
|
Buying something isn't usually ever the problem in terms of availability (there's always a selection of covers, painted artwork, and standard portfolio art for sale), it's really down to how much you can spend. But you can usually get a b/w piece for $100-150.

I'll get around to the David Petersen piece in due course... first of all, a couple of quick sketchcards from Katie Cook...
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...pse1ca921f.jpghttp://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...psc21daedb.jpg And now the Dooney commission I requested... I think it's more than just sweet ;) http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...psa14a1990.jpg |

This is only vaguely TMNT related (you'll see why), but hey, I can't get away with not showing it to you guys... been after this for four years...

love the shredder/leo sketch. i've been wanting one of those from david since last summer. i planed to commission him for something similar at the last boston comic con, but when i got to his table, he had no more commission slots :( maybe this year!
that UJ piece is spectacular! great pick-up! |
It's even been given today's highlight award on CAF, so I'm somewhat proud :)
(even if my bank balance is attempting to kill me right now!) |
Two new items... click through for bigger images of both.
First the Alex Deligiannis sketch cover for SHotFC. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps30f97534.jpg Secondly, the Kevin Eastman double spread artwork for Jetpack issues #3 and #4... it's taken a little time for it to get into my hands, but it's here eventually. Always gotta bet on the Shredder :D http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...pse7db6123.jpg |
