Hopes for the new theme song?
 

So a friend and I were talking about the OT theme song. How it's bouncy, fun, and fit the tone of the series, and even without the lyrics, is somehow still catchy. I never got into the 2K3 series, but I do remember it's first opening theme song, and hating it. I'm no music expert, but felt unbalance and the lyrics felt kind of sloppy. Then, my friend and I started talking about our hopes for the new show. Aside from our hopes for the tone, the art style, of course the figures, and finally the theme song.

Since there will be so many references to the original show, and other sources in the Nick TMNT, how cool would it be if they used the Vanilla Ice "Ninja Rap" song from TMNT2 as the opening theme for this new show? Seriously. We all laugh about his appearance in the second movie, but really, it's been one of the most memorable moments in TMNT history :tlol:

Anything but rap. I'd take teeny-bopper BS over that.

I hope for a theme song that is like the one for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awsomeness.

I'm kinda hoping for something a little retroish. Modern with little touches of the classic toon song.

I was wondering why you didn't provide a youtube link... then I looked it up on youtube. Sooo many "point camera at TV" versions of the same theme song, in varying degrees of quality.

I should create a theme......maybe Ill do a cover of Ninja Rap.... Would anyone want to hear it?

I think late 80's early 90's rap is fun. If you mean rap that appears in stuff like Dragon Ball GT or One Piece, then yeah, I'd rather anything else as well.

I know Jack Black isn't Po in the series, but is that him singing the theme?

No that's Mick Wingert, the guy voicing Po. He is pretty good at imitating Jack Black though.:tgrin:

I want a rock song as the main theme.

I think a more suitable "underground" hip hop from Aesop Rock would be fresh. (Notice I said underground....like a sewer)

I'd love it if we got a real jump around style hip-hop theme. Somethin' akin to House Of Pain, Cypress Hill, etc.

Pretty Good Jester!!! I think that was pretty good, but I think it was a little drawn out.

That was VincentEL. Admittedly, I liked his original a lot better, but I doubt "Ninjas in a half-shell, mother****er" would fly with Nick. :P Find more of his work here.

I'd be cool with the OT theme being used again. After all, the new toon is more or less a re-imagining of the original, anyway.

You have superb taste. "None Shall Pass" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Actually, based on what we have heard, the toon seems more like its using things from the turtle's past( comics/1980's/movies/2k3). But thats just me. I wouldn't mind if Nick came up with their own verison. Something Epic, but fun and catchy.

I really just hope the show has a theme song. So many TV shows now-a-days both cartoons and live action don't anymore :tsad:

Whatever we get, I'm sure it'll never stick in my head the way the OT theme does to this very day. :)
