Human Bebop & Rocksteady - Original Sprites

Hi everybody! i'm new to the forum as a member, but for every other reason i've been stumbling here for the past years.
I know there is an introduction section, but i had these new sprites i've made recently so i wanted to go directly to the point.
These are a human Bebop and Rocksteady for the TMNT 2 nes game, the arcade port:
http://k43.kn3.net/2DE8B1CB2.png
http://k35.kn3.net/C41BDB2B1.png
i used the sheets with the original rips of the game of guycott (bebop) and deathbringer (rocksteady)

And here are the examples for the real arcade:
http://k35.kn3.net/4A9472C48.png
those are still a WIP.. actually that's all i got so far, that's because i couldn't get a hold of a complete sheet. Now i got these:
http://acidglow.lithfaq.com/sps3.htm
But for example, i know that for Bebop there, at least there is one animation missing, one that is seen when he is punched.

Well, i hope you like it.

EDIT:
I later made a photobucket account. Go further to see the images

oldmanwinters 04-01-2012 12:23 AM

Wow, those are pretty hilarious! Good job, and please feel free to share your future contributions.

Jester 04-01-2012 12:24 AM

Interesting mod. I like it. Any chance we'll see a hack with those modified character sprites?

Shreddhead 04-01-2012 12:33 AM

I guess i need a java update or something, cause i cant see your sprites. But i love the Shredder sprites from turtles in time that you linked. I always imagined he was fighting with a lightsaber :twink:

Tortuglio 04-01-2012 12:35 AM

I wanted to test the sprites in the game, but when i opened the game in tilelayer i couldn't make a thing out of it, is really mess up. so its not going to come from me haha.. but i would like it know if they work properly, for if there's something to change.. so if anyone could test it and let me know.. i would be very grateful

Tortuglio 04-01-2012 12:37 AM

SHREDDHEAD!!!:
i know it's dum, but did you make right click and show image? cause just once, i put refresh and the images didn't show (and i panic like a little girl), but did that and show up instantly

PD: man, i have to catch up with the tools in this forum.. i feel like a granny

dcat 04-01-2012 01:02 AM

Great job, Tortuglio & welcome to the forums, I'm a sucker for custom sprites! Looking forward to the full arcade versions of these guys!

Didnt work, but i was able to copy and paste the image url and finally see em... Looks great! keep up the good work, and i would also love to eventually see this in a modded game :D

Raven 04-01-2012 03:40 PM

Those are awesome, nice work!

Ecto Jedi 04-02-2012 01:14 PM

Niiiice. Let's see some bigger screencaps!

Tortuglio 04-12-2012 09:51 AM

Sorry i've left the thread for a while. but i was swamped with a lot of work so i'll return in a week or so with a little progress.
Thanks for the comments.:D

Tortuglio 05-29-2012 06:11 PM

bigger screencap

so, here it is, bigger... not much to add there. i'll be posting the animated gif i've made with what i've got so far. Been out for a while, my pc "died" so, that was a nono.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...0018cccMAS.png

I made and account at photobucket. I've seen this is what is used here.
I'll add the ones i've posted before here too.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...ocksteadyF.png

I have this WIP Baxter, but I want to finish the arcade Bebop and Rocksteady first.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/.../BaxterWIP.png

I wanted to add some wings like the ones Krang or Mazinger Z have. But i'm not sure if the animation in the game will let me, as he has his fly wings going up and down. Also, i don't like those "laser guns" i made, but it's a start.

I like Jetpack Baxter! You really are pretty good with 8-bit sprite edits!

Tortuglio 05-29-2012 06:20 PM

This is what i've got so far from Bebop. It's not much, but it's something.
Enjoy!

Tortuglio 05-29-2012 06:36 PM

Thanks! and it took a me a long time to figure it out :P... but know i've upload my own custom avatar! yippie! haha

Jephael 05-29-2012 09:41 PM

That's pretty cool, dude!

zkarlette 05-29-2012 10:42 PM

Great job Man! Those sprites look really good!:)

Jester 05-29-2012 10:57 PM

Love that Bebop animation.

Tortuglio 05-30-2012 09:44 AM

No relation, just made this last night out of boredom and because i like a lot the tmnt adventure comics.
It's a B&W Bellybomb, nothing great, but it's a nice first attempt. His lower body was the real problem. But in a future, IF i am able too, it will be a nice character to make sprites of.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...bellybombG.png

Well, back to Bebop now. Thank you for the comments!

This is incredible!! Solid work, my friend!

SparkyMarky644 06-16-2012 12:21 PM

Yeah man the Bebop gif is awesome!

Tortuglio 06-20-2012 12:22 AM

Thank you everybody for the comments! i'm almost there, i would say i've done an 85% of the total work by now. just missing a few of the walking sprites and all of the "sitting on the ground after hit and standing up" sprites. 8 sprites in total, but some of them are pretty tough, so it will take some time, not much, but some. i also made a new rocksteady version for nes with trademark helmet, and the tmnt 3 nes rocksteady (with and without helmet). i need the time off from bebop from time to time so i made those. i'll be posting them soon.
bye!
:tgrin::tgrin::tgrin:

Tortuglio 07-20-2012 04:02 PM

Finished sprites 07/20/12

Well, finally i'm happy with what i've got. Human Bebop for the arcade is finished (well... almost, i've discovered today that it has a single special frame i was not aware of when it collides with rocksteady... i guess i'll post it soon).
Also, as i said in other post, there's a new rocksteady with helmet for the tmnt 2 arcade game for the nes. And there's a rocksteady for manhattan project for the nes as well. I still have to finish the Manhattan project Bebop, but it's not that hard. Will be coming soon!
The TMNT 2 Rocksteady was made using the ripped sprite sheet of Deathbringer and for the TMNT 3 the one of Code-E.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...cksteady2F.png
http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...cksteady3F.png

This is a gif with all the animations for Bebop. I'll post the sprite sheet when i get that frame missing and de-mutagenize it :P.
http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...umanbebopT.gif

The running animation is OK. Here it stops for one frame because i needed it for the walking animation wich had one more frame long. There's original Bebop just for comparison.
Hope you like it!

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/.../tortuglio.png

PS1: Already have a Rocksteady's face animation. But i'll just leave you with his smile.
PS2: For some reason, in the TMNT 3 Rocksteady still apears a Rhino Rocksteady (an upload i deleted, an reupload withouth him). In photobucket he's not there, so... i don't know. Maybe is just the preview...

The Fifth Turtle 07-20-2012 04:41 PM

Waaaay cool dude. Nice work!

Zany Orange Dude 07-20-2012 07:05 PM

These are some great gifs! Great work!:tcool:

Broc Longstaff 08-26-2012 07:41 PM

Great work man! Love the human Bebop

Pro Igrok 03-07-2013 06:54 AM

Nice work man! :twink:

Refractive Reflections 03-07-2013 07:04 PM

Impressive work Tortuglio!

I always wondered if a video game could follow the series of events of the OT series, and if it did they could have used your sprites of Human Bebop and Rocksteady for the fights in the sewers when the Turtles save April! :)

(Looking at your last post) So are there any projects you've been up to lately since July 2012 to impress us again? ;)

BubblyShell22 03-08-2013 07:50 AM

Whoa. Awesome sprites, Tortuglio. You really have talent.

Tortuglio 03-14-2013 11:36 AM

I'm back

Unfortunately, no. I haven't. And i feel pretty ashamed saying so :ohwell:
At least, nothing TMNT related or sprite based. I've been real busy with work, life... and laziness.
It's a bummer, but it's the truth. Actually, i ripped Bebop and Rocksteady's clash sprite and changed it innmediatly after my last post. But then i decided i wanted a few more extra custom sprites, so i made a frozen sprite (Turtles in Time style), a shocked sprite (Street Fighter style) and a burnt sprite (again, Turtles in Time and Street Fighter style). I was doing well and fast, till i got to the frozen sprite... i just, left it there hanging. Then, job, life, vacations, etc. So, here i am again, and i wanted to come back with at least that what i had promised. So, here they are. The complete sprite sheet for Human Bebop (with the clash sprite added), an extra custom sprites sheet and a color swap sheet (with color palettes).

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...EBOP_FINAL.png

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...EBOP_EXTRA.png

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...BOP_CSwaps.png

A few notes:
1-In the first sheet, there's a variation for the fase for the animation when Bebop is hit and leans back.
2-The extras sheet is pretty much explained there.
3-In the color swaps sheet, in the left side of the color palettes you have Bebop's original colors, and in the right side, the color swaps. As you noticed, there aren't the same amount of colors on both sides. When there aren't any replacementes color, it's that the color swap uses the same color than the original. I hope you can understand it. Last, there's a color palette far on the left side, i have no idea what was that for, i don't remember :tconfuse: but i left it there, just in case.

That is all. Maybe i'll finish the Human Bebop for TMNT 3 for the NES, but i don't see myself doing the Arcade Human Rocksteady anytime soon. Don't wanna give false expectations. I just have other projects lying around that i would like to take care of. FYI, i'm the "movie business"... wich in Argentina is not a business, so i work as an editor for whatever it comes, or camera man.

Anyways, hope you like them, and thank you very much for your comments, it gave me the final energy to end this bebop stuff. See ya!

BubblyShell22 03-15-2013 07:21 AM

Awesome job on these, dude. I really like what you've done. You really do have talent.

Thanks, man!

Well, here's the sprite sheet for Human Bebop on TMNT 3 for the NES. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...io/bebop3F.png

Oh! And as the other NES game, i used Tom Guycott's sprite sheet of the game for the character.

Make me an arcade-styled version of Baxter the Fly!

BubblyShell22 05-08-2013 05:11 PM

Awesome Bebop sprites. Really cool.

Shark_Blade 05-08-2013 05:32 PM

Very nice, well done!

Ouuuuuuukeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyy. What's with the order/demand/command tone? A "please" would be nice. :tconfuse:
Anyway, do you really mean an "arcade baxter fly" or an "arcade human baxter stockman" (with a jetpack as i intended)? 'cause at first i thought it was a nice idea, an arcade baxter fly... until a few seconds later i remembered there's one. Turtles in Time first boss IS Baxter Stockman AS A FLY. I know i could do my own version of it, but i'm pretty happy with what Konami did. But, just for fun, i made a recoloring of the original sprite with a color palette closer to the OT.
http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...io/baxterG.gif

Sorry if i'm disappointing you. Many thanks for the comments. :tsmile:

PS: Oh i forgot to add, it has the same numbers of colors as the SNES palette. I just loose the blueish colors for the pants and add more shades of grey. Change the greens for the face and the reds for the bowtie and hair. And add some volume to the hair, wich is weird cause in the arcade version they did some shading, but in the SNES version didn't. Who knows why, but pretty good conversion in overall.

BubblyShell22 05-17-2013 07:53 AM

Wow. Awesome Baxter. I like it.

An Arcade Baxter Fly. Make sure he looks like like he did in the NES TMNT II.

Jester 05-17-2013 10:44 PM

Is the bossy tone because as a Mistress you think you can make demands? Yikes.

An ORIGINAL TMNT arcade-style Baxter Fly (like in TMNT II NES), not the Turtles in Time one!
