Neca custom, Raphael the shredder.

So i have just finished making my first ever custom action figure from a bootleg Neca michelangelo i got off ebay and thought i might aswell post some pics on here,
I have tried to base this custom on Raphael from Image vol.3 when he wore the Shredder armour but ive given the armour a more Mirage-ish look, i think im gonna change the belt in the future but for the moment im happy enough with it.

Excellent work! Where did you get the armor from? Or did you make it?

TurtleTitan97 04-14-2012 11:09 AM

That's amazing. Well done, my friend.:tthumbsu::tthumbsu:

Jester 04-14-2012 11:13 AM

Indeed, very nice. :D

Andrew NDB 04-14-2012 11:50 AM

That's awesome, I'm showing Frank. Is it possible to fashion him a purple cape? That would complete the Image Raph Shredder look.

Topsu 04-14-2012 11:56 AM

That's awesome looking custom with clean sculpting work, I especially like the head!

Shreddhead 04-14-2012 12:18 PM

This is great man! Looks Amazing! all you need now is a purple cape

Andrew NDB 04-14-2012 12:43 PM

Talked to Frank. He really digs it and concurs about the cape, if possible.

Donnie 04-14-2012 12:45 PM

Daaaamn, you have some talent my friend! Excellent job!!

Thank you very much for all the kind comments,:tsmile:

@Andrew NDB, if i had of ever known that Frank Fosco was gonna see this custom i would have tried to give the armour more of a Image look. i dont have any purple materail so this is the best i can do for now.

I love that custom so much! Fantastic work, friend... especially as that's your first custom figure. I think you're lying about that. ;)

And you say you made the armor (including the hand claws) with apoxie sculpt? How sturdy do the claws feel? I'm always skittish about sculpting thin pointed pieces like that with it.

Shreddhead 04-14-2012 03:08 PM

Looks even better now! very intimidating :shredder:

I also love the fact that hes holding his bandanna, very nice touch

KirkyMonster 04-14-2012 03:33 PM

This really cool and a very original custom design to tackle, you nailed it though. I don't have volume 3 anymore to compare but I think I would have added more scarring to the burnt side of his face but that is just me. Great job on the sculpting of the armor, great GREAT custom way to go. :tgrin:

Thank you and LOL i have no need to lie about anything in life, the last time i got creative with anything TMNT was a couple of years ago when i painted aload of Dark Horse miniatures, seen here http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...lection&page=6

Yes i made all the armour with apoxie sculpt, for the hand claws i used strong wire to start with and scuplted the apoxie around that, all the armour feels strong and when i pose the figure nothing feels like its gonna snap off.

Ahh, I see -- I was thinking this was your first experience with any kind of figure work rather than your first custom action figure. And I wasn't seriously accusing you of lying; that's just me being silly kidder me. ;)

Thanks for the info on your sculpting method (and the additional pics)! Another question -- how'd you paint the plastron? I'm guessing with an airbrush? That looks really nice.

Lordmylar06 04-14-2012 09:31 PM

This is some awesome work! Image TMNT customs... I think we need to see more! That face sculpt is great, the damaged grimace is cool to see and I have to agree with what's being said about the armor work, it's pretty amazing. Can't wait to see more!

That looks spectacular. I've always loved that storyline, and seeing it mixed with the neca style is amazing. That armor is so smooth its mind-blowing. Great work.

Fantastic work, I can't believe how smooth the armour is. I know from experience how difficult it is to make Shredder's armour and helmet, but you've done an amazing job.

Thanks, i really dug the Neca style shredder you made, its a damn shame Neca never put that figure in the stores.
