Do you hide your tmnt interest from the real world?

I was just wondering do you guys/girls openly talk about tmnt outside of the forums?

I do if asked I'll admit I still watch it and that I'm into it. I don't make it a secret my friends and family know it.

Jester 04-23-2012 07:36 PM

Nah, most of my co-workers know I'm into the Turtles. Sometimes with some obnoxious results.

Drose18 04-23-2012 07:38 PM

Depends
Nerds: Yes
Hot girls: No
Friends: Yes
Internet: Yes
Facebook: As little as possible...

Redeemer 04-23-2012 07:40 PM

No I talk about them as if "TMNT" was tattooed on my chest  usually my friends will try to agitate me and say "They aren't real hereos" or something like that

What about nerdy hot chicks?

Samhain 04-23-2012 07:56 PM

Nope, why would I?

I hide it I think.?.?.?

TurtleTitan97 04-23-2012 08:07 PM

Most of my friends know I like TMNT.

Dirty Blond 04-23-2012 08:09 PM

No, LOL, not even. On new-issue days, my ritual is to pick it up at Legacy and walk over to Jax (a bar) and read it amongst all the corporate drones.

Zany Orange Dude 04-23-2012 08:28 PM

If you know me more than by "that random person who always carries a sketchbook," then you know I love the turtles. I wear the shirts, the hats, heck even my book bag is shaped like a turtle shell! Why hide what I am? I am fan of the TMNT! Got a problem with it, hope not because there isn't a thing you can do about it!:twink:
So I guess what I am saying is, no I do not hide it from the real world.:P

That's the spirt!:twink:

LeoNerdo 04-23-2012 08:31 PM

nah, that's dumb

themaxonline 04-23-2012 09:09 PM

Nope! And my DVDs are proudly displayed in the living room too! Plus my multiple ninja turtles shirt. I'm not crazy about it. It's pretty casual but it's common knowledge to people that know me!:tcool:

Powder 04-23-2012 09:10 PM

Helllllllllll no. I own over 40 TMNT t-shirts and have the boys tattooed on me. That should speak volumes.

Kendamu 04-23-2012 09:52 PM

I don't hide it, but most people I know don't really care about the Turtles beyond, "Did you know that Michael Bay's making a new TMNT?" So, I tend to not do a lot of Turtle Talk with most people.

Nintendophile 04-23-2012 10:08 PM

Hide it? Heck no! In fact, it's almost something I use to gauge whether or not I'll get along with someone. If they're like "Aw, Ninja turtles, heck yeah!", then they're aces in my book. If someone says "Ninja Turtles? What are you, a nerd? That's baby stuff.", then just keep on walking, I'd rather not even talk to you. lol. :tlol:

Luzmagica 04-24-2012 12:53 AM

I love to see/contemplate the stunned-shocked-amusing-amazed faces of the rest of my world when I tell them I :tlove: TMNT......:lol::lol::lol:

Nobody expect it! Most the time they dont know what to answer...... Sometimes insteed ....Im the surprised one when I meet another TMNT hidden fan!!!!!!! (of course they only showed themselfs when you did it before!!!! :tlol::tlol::tlol: )

Candy Kappa 04-24-2012 03:23 AM

used to try to hide it when everyone else "outgrew" turtles, but after a while I said screw it

Spitfire 04-24-2012 04:55 AM

I used to. Then I got a ninja turtles hoodie in high school and instead of being made fun of everyone used to compliment me on it. I eventually kept growing my TMNT wardrobe and I was never afraid to cake my room in turtles stuff. No one has ever given me crap for being a TMNT fan. In fact it's opened many doors and lead to a lot of compliments.

Eiko 04-24-2012 05:15 AM

I use to but i one day i said stuff it it is who i am.

I don't hide my fandom either. Whenever I wear TMNT shirts or track jackets or whatever I usually get compliments from people, never any derogative remarks. Probably the most compliments on my TMNT apparell I get are actually from most of my fellow pro wrestlers. Alot of them are TMNT fans too, tho not as much as I am :twink:

koenne 04-24-2012 06:06 AM

Most of the people I know , all know I collect tmnt ..
Cowabunga!

gobo 04-24-2012 07:43 AM

I don't hide it, but I don't take every opportunity to put it beyond a reasonable doubt either. It doesn't define me, and I find most TMNT apparel tacky. If I happen to meet someone who wouldn't be bored by a discussion, then I'll bring them up. Otherwise, people don't know I'm a fan unless they just pay that much attention.

pannoni1 04-24-2012 07:54 AM

To me, it's a sport. If it pops up unexpectedly, then I might mention how much I enjoyed it as a kid. I just don't want to get punished for it, especially at work. I just don't feel that TMNT isn't "eternally cool for all ages" like Spiderman, Batman, and even GI Joe and Transformers are as of yet, but hopefully the next wave and fatherhood eventually will change all that.

ZariusTwo 04-24-2012 08:10 AM

I don't even hide the fact I watch Power Rangers. On a social level, that's worse.

BubblyShell22 04-24-2012 08:13 AM

My immediate family knows I like TMNT and so does my BF. I actually got him back into TMNT, and we always talked about the latest 2K3 episode at school. But other members of my family don't know I like it, and I feel it's none of their business if I do. Now, if someone were to ask me what I'm into, I'd definitely put Ninja Turtles on my list. But other than that, I really haven't told anyone else about it.

Lethal Lullaby 04-24-2012 09:59 AM

A lot of my friends and family know I enjoy TMNT.

I unfourtunaly am at that age where people start saying they "outgrew" the turtles, for a wile i tryed to hide it, but then i said the same thing, what's the matter with liking the turtles any ways. sure i get alot of laughs, and at times get made fun of for liking the the turtles, but you know, that's who I am. It's not my problem if they don't know what's good for them!

Katie 04-24-2012 06:18 PM

I think it's silly to feel ashamed or feel like you have to hide any aspect of who you are or what you like.

My philosophy always has been if you think something I like is dumb...or if you think I'm not fitting in to whatever mold you think is "normal"....then just move along. There's no law saying you have to be my friend and I'm not changing who I am for anybody.

Archon_Turtle 04-24-2012 07:01 PM

It would be really difficult for me to hide my love for the Turtles.

Having said that...if you hide anything you're passionate about...you're doing it wrong.

AcidBurn30 04-24-2012 07:11 PM

i do all the time, that's why i made my combi101 ninja turtles reviews on youtube so other fans can enjoy and meet other fans also..

That makes prefect sense.

shezcrafti 04-24-2012 07:33 PM

At age 30 I'm openly Turtle and proud. I wear TMNT stuff, I blog about TMNT stuff, I tweet about TMNT stuff, and I've never hid it. Not even at work. Doing so has only led to me meeting cool people with similar interests.

Jephael 04-25-2012 07:55 AM

I'll admit I do get a little hesitant about talking Turtles with people, especially when I'm around my judgemental sister, but I love when I can be myself and talk openly about my love of the TMNT!

Lisardo 04-26-2012 10:08 PM

It depends on the people I was around. To most of the public, not really and coworkers, not really. But other people who are into retro stuff or like comic books, I'll admit it to them.

Ravenxl7 04-26-2012 10:18 PM

I don't hid it exactly, but it's not a topic that comes up all that often, and almost every time it does it's me mentioning/referencing something. Only two of my friends really know anything about the TMNT franchise. My family of course knows, they had to deal with me as a kid, lol...

With the new show and movie on their way, I might be more open/bring it up more often in conversation.

Roseangelo 04-26-2012 10:43 PM

I don't hide it, and anyone who knows me for any length of time knows it, but I haven't typically advertised it in work places. However, I made the decision to put Ninja Pizza is on my resume, so I started my current job with everyone knowing on Day 0. But I knew I was in the perfect place when this greeted me on my first day:

I agree. I dont openly force my love for tmnt on others by randomly bringing it up all the time while i am working or out with new people but I would not pretend I didnt love them if it was ever brought up because being a tmnt fan is part of who I am, if people dont like me for me they dont have to be my friend.
