New books

I dont know if anyone else saw this but walmarts got 5 kids books from nick up for pre-order right now.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/20636044

This is the only one with a pic so far though.

Powder 06-05-2012 04:19 PM

Yeah these were shared before. The Barnes & Noble pages feature most of the covers, actually.

TurtleMaster4 06-05-2012 05:09 PM

I would love to see more adult of teen books the size of most star wars books some time. I love the comics, but i wouldn't mind book either.

TheCanadiandrome 06-05-2012 06:15 PM

i want em!

Nice that Wal-Mart's gonna be carrying em but I already pre-ordered them all at BN a while ago. *lol*

TheCanadiandrome 06-06-2012 12:34 AM

Probably cheaper at Walmart, no?

zkarlette 06-06-2012 04:23 AM

Cool! They come with stickers .:P

Drose18 06-07-2012 02:37 PM

Ugh I hate Raph's expression. :tconfuse:

Jester 06-07-2012 03:00 PM

Here are more covers. Donnie already posted smaller copies in another thread, but here are some bigger ones:

No. Same prices as BN. Plus with my BN discount I get each book at 10% off the cover price.

Stingray69 06-13-2012 08:46 PM

Wonder whats up with a kraang riding metalhead? I want these now.

Donatello19 06-18-2012 08:54 AM

it's nice to see that they are making tons of merchandise for this show already

I think kraang can control metalhead when he is on him like that

DonatelloFan 06-18-2012 10:18 PM

Holy freakin' ^%#*%^*W@^$%&^^)^%^$#%^&&%#$%#@@ s**t!!! Metalhead!!! I know we already know he's on the show, and that Donatello made him, but seeing him in another picture is just awesome. And he's attacking the Turtles with the help of the Kraang.

That cover I haven't seen before, but yeah, I also pre-ordered the books at Barnes & Noble like the day someone posted the link on here. Unlike the toy pre-orders though, I had to pay right away. Now I just have to wait until mid-August.

I'm so freakin' glad that the merchandise will be in different stores. Wal-Mart, Toys 'r' Us, and probably Target already. I can't wait to walk into Party City to find a little section like they have for Hello Kitty, Power Rangers, etc, for the Ninja Turtles. Party favor galore!! And decoration for my shelf.

Zany Orange Dude 06-18-2012 10:49 PM

I REALLY want the book with Metalhead! :tgrin: I wonder if the books are based off of episodes from the show?

Me too! Too bad that the shipping cost from Barnes & Noble is $40 to Sweden :tsad: If someone knows about a cheaper site to pre-order from, please tell me!

Jephael 06-25-2012 09:59 PM

I'm definitely buying these books when they come out!

Chaotix12345 07-11-2012 08:39 AM

Amazon have put up preview pages for the new books, including a sneak peek at the Turtles' origin scene and their first meeting with April!

Looks like rather than it being an accident, a disguised Kraang soldier just chucks the canister at Yoshi. Hm...

ZariusTwo 07-11-2012 09:17 AM

And we have our first confirmed episode titles: "Day One" Parts One and Two

Yeah... a little odd. Also, Hamato being treated as Yoshi's given name? They did the same thing in 2k3 by switching Saki's names, and it always bugged me.

TMNT_Guy 07-11-2012 09:58 AM

I'm glad their not going the 4Kids route, where we didn't learn the Turtles's origins untill the third episode. I can only imagine how confused those who never heard of TMNT were.

Mr.Turtle 07-11-2012 11:33 AM

i don't mind how long it takes them to reveal the turtles origin as long as the fillers before that r decent.

DonatelloFan 07-11-2012 11:36 AM

I can't even remember the books I ordered from Barnes & Noble when it was first announced they had them on here. I know I ordered two of each book I bought. I think I bought 4 books? I just know when I ordered, they said it would be shipped to me on August 1st or 7th. So basically it's going to be like Christmas, because I don't know what I'm getting.

Roseangelo 08-08-2012 12:20 AM

All of the books I pre-ordered from B&N have shipped! Excited to get them!

TheCanadiandrome 08-08-2012 02:25 AM

Nice Rose! I hope to find em in Saskatoon when I go on holidays the weekend of the 18th

Powder 08-08-2012 02:36 AM

Hmm, I'll have to see if I can get out to my B&N one of these days.

TheJ-manTurtleMan 08-08-2012 02:58 AM

I went to my local B&N today, but they didn't have them yet, I'll check back in a couple of days. I would love to read them, yet I kinda don't. I'm afraid they will spoil the first episodes of the show for me.

Zulithe 08-08-2012 04:14 AM

The new origin preview above, while brief and simplified for the book, sounds like one of the worst origin versions yet.

So now all yoshi needed to become a half-man half-rat was for a rat to be near him briefly while in contact with the ooze? Why couldn't he still be a friend to the sewer rats like before? Guess that was too dirty for Nick's vision? They live in the freakin' sewer. Hopefully we'll know the full origin in the 1 hour premier

Also, Yoshi BUYS the turtles instead of finds them? :( I guess that means he wasn't homeless living in the sewer before the mutation, either. A homeless person would not buy 4 pets like that.

And worst of all: the direct involvement of the Kraang. Why oh why would they throw a canister of mutagen at him? That stuff has to be rather valuable and they surely knew what effect it would have.

Okay okay... one last thing. So it says the mutagen gets all over the turtles, yoshi *AND* the rat... AND THE RAT!

So does that mean the rat mutates too? or does he just get like absorbed into Yoshi somehow? :| :| :|

It would make no sense of the turtles mutated, yoshi mutated, but the rat did not.

BAXTER STOCKMAN 19 08-08-2012 05:43 AM

is the release date of these comics today? And are they based on first episode of the show?

TheBlueTurtle1 08-08-2012 06:55 AM

I ordered Green Team, I think they are going to be very kidish, but Its like only £1 so ill check out the art.

DonatelloFan 08-08-2012 07:03 AM

B&N sent an email saying they're shipping three of the books I ordered. Can't wait to get them, since I pre-ordered them what, in February or something like that?

It's not a bad origin, so far. It's better than IDW's origin. Glad there's no reincarnation in this series.:trazz: I find nothing wrong with Yoshi/Splinter's origin that much. The turtles are still mutated as infants, though. I'm okay with that.:tcool:

Definitely not homeless. He does seem to be working/middle class in the first trailer.

The canister being thrown: maybe it was an accident.:teek: Maybe one utrom (excuse me - "Kraang"):tlol: may act foolishly, thinking the ooze would kill Yoshi without knowing about the mutation. I don't know. I could just picture one Kraang saying, "You fool! That was valuable to us! Why would you do that?!" We'll just have to wait and see.

Just watched the first trailer. Yoshi punches one of them and the canister is thrown. Either this is not the whole story for them, or the author has no freaking clue what he/she is writting.:trolleye: Still, if this helps, the turtles and Yoshi happen to be "created by accident." Somehow, I can get past any reason why Yoshi and the rat become Splinter. I've seen it before, I can take it again. Still, I'm just glad that the turtles will not be instantly mutated as teenagers. Just curious - this whole idea you've read, you won't be turned off by the series this time, will you? I hope not, because you seem to have been hyped up a bit. That's evident with your Splinter avatar.:twink: Really cool, by the way.

Genesis 08-08-2012 08:29 AM

Just got the Ultimate Fan activity book in the mail. Wholly unimpressed with its attempt at a poster, but there are so many stickers, it's hard to be disappointed.

I'm mostly only familiar with the OT series, the live action films and (some) of the comics... are you saying there is a version of the origin where they mutate directly into teenagers? How... horrible :| Gah! It bothers me how mishandled some of these TMNT interpretations are.

If all of my guesses are correct then yeah I will be a bit miffed and turned off by the new series... but I can't say to what degree until I see a few episodes. At this stage all I know is I really love how the character designs and animation look, particularly the Turtles themselves.

It does bother me when the origin story gets changed in ways that feel stupid to me or unnecessary. I try hard to like the IDW comics but I just want to slap whoever came up with the new origin. For real.

I'm not unaccepting of change, but it has to feel like an improvement. Not just adding convenience. Here are some of my feelings on changes:

Do I like that April will now be a teen and not a reporter? Yes
Do I like the new designs (like don's gap tooth and raph's shell missing a chunk, etc.?) yes
Do I like that it is CGI and not traditional animation? Yes
Do I like how in the IDW series the turtles and splinter are reincarnated from past lives? NO!
Do I like that april named the turtles in IDW? HELL TO THE NO!

Thanks for asking how I might feel though! It is hard for me to imagine not wanting to watch every episode at this point, given my feelings on the property. You try to take the good with the bad.

Still I don't like living in a world where splinter (pre-mutation!) was sentient and tried to save his "turtle sons" like a character out of a disney movie!

DarkLightDragon 08-08-2012 09:31 AM

Managed to get five of the books at Scheuler's last night.

I've only read one so far but I'm already impressed with how the two-parter will go down.

Spoiler:
It's also interesting to note that Snakeweed was originally a human named Snake who apparently worked for/with the Kraang but got accidently splashed with the mutagen.
