New Episode Discussion-"Notes from the Underground"
Since no one's started this thread yet, I decided This would be the place to discuss the new episode. Enjoy :)
Could someone "sticky" it please? Thanks [ Sure thing - looks like Machias isn't here to do this for the summer now. *sniff* ~HT ] |
i saw a longer preview at the end of the 9:00 rerun. the "bad guy" mentions shredder by name . . . :)
|
Anyone notice how he sounded just like the Garbageman?
I got suck a kick out of Mike's Twilight Zone hum. |
well that was a pretty good ep.
i think i finally figured out what is on the "shellavator" . . . it kinda looks like a "FG" , possibly meaning Foot Genetics . . . :-? looks like there's 3 mutants and no mutant cameos that i can see . . . |
Ummmm.... that was really weird :ohwell:
I didn't really like this week's episode, it was better than the "Turtle Titan" one. But it was just so strange. The random mutations, the weird looking creatures and everything, a lot of it reminded of the game Myst. Mikey's freaking out got old preety quickly for me. And Raph seems to have replaced Leo as the leader of the team. On another note it looks like they have gotten their own "We'll be right back" commercial switcher. 6.2 out of 10 |
great episode i was hooked on the whole story! :o Mikey was great in this one with the whole monster movie thing and hell we even got a Cowabunga! :D I can't wait to see part 2 especially when donny dissapears! great episode
|
I liked this episode!
Mikey narrated a second episode in a row! I loved it!!!! and he said COWABUNGA! and I loved how Leo kept telling him and Raph to be quiet and i KNEW mikey was gonna sneeze like that! and i loved the last line! "THis isnt the end of the movie.....is it?" this kinda reminded me of that monstor episode from the old cartoon .. all i remember is they're under the tunnels and "BRING YOUR OWN MONSTOR" or something. next weeks looks good |
did everyone sleep in today or what?
i thought it was a good ep. about the same level as the mousers 2-parter . . . |
I thought this was an awesome episode. Reminded me of those old monster movies (I think that's what they were going for).
|
pretty good. had an "indiana Jones" feel to it that i dug. the big mutant thing reminds me of a WildCATs villain Slag, which was cool(i like that character design).
i wonder if next week the turtles are even going to fight with those other mutants. this is obviously what we were led to believe, but in the preview they seemed to be getting along pretty peachy. highlight of the ep-Michelangelo:"we're all gonna be alot thinner!" |
this was a great episode. i love all this secretive stuff going on in the cartoon. next weeks episode looks like fun. i like how they are slowly bringing the utroms into the story.
|
what a shot by raph with his sai eh :o
just a flick of the wrist  |

But I liked this ep. Mikey acting like a chicken, the dramatic squeeze in the lab, really cool plot twists. Kinda reminds me of my fic, Hi No De, in a really strange way too. Minus the horses and flu, of course. *modest grin* But I can;t wait to see the next ep now. What happens to Donny?! |
Good ep.....I like how the muntants look...specially the skinny black one..aha...
Mikey got really really annoying though...it was fine the first 5 mins...but then i just wished he'd shut up !....I still believe the writers are making him out to be such a wimp. |
But Mikey is a whimp. :P
<<-- admits she is not that much of a mikey fan *nyyaaaar!* |
Hey, I'm sure you guys would be pissin' your pants if you saw those mutants.
|
I've always liked Mikey...but Don is my fav. I really didn't mind the whole Mikey thing but I thought it was getting a bit odd after they kept it up for so long. Mikey likes that horror stuff and he should be old enough now that he shouldn't be freaked out /that/ much, in my opinion... The freakin' out was fun at first but...eh...WHY did he do it through out the whole episode? I can't wait for the next episode cause of something happening with Donny! ^.^ Also, I agree about Raphael, guy barely even aimed!
|
I liked this ep a lot! For me, it's up there with the Shredder episodes and Meet Casey Jones.

Actually, I know a few people who are like Mikey in the ep. It's like a wierd love/hate relationship they have with it. They don't like how horror scares them, but they keep on going back to it cause the scare gives them such a rush. Or they are trying ot get over it, or something.
|
Raph was also funny in this one, some funny qotes from him:
"What do you get when you cross a chicken and a turtle..... Mikey" Leo:"you ready for first watch?" Raph:*jumps up and spins sais*"....you know me!" :o Don or leo:"What is this place?" Mikey:"do you want a wild guess?" Raph:*stares at mikey*"......No." Mikey:"COWABUNGA!" Raph:"hey mikey, what did i say? no more cowabungas!" :D |
Here I am. Some of you probably wounder why I haven't been involed with the last thread. That's because I missed Unconvicing TurtleTian last week. Don't ask long story. I did see it today and the new one so I'm all caught up.
The Unconvincing TurtleTitan: I like it. It's good for a Mikey episode. The Silver Septer is like Superman only a TMNT Version. I was surprised when April appear in it. And even the Eastman & Laird Cop made another camoe appearence. That one villian name Dr. Genemis(sp?) is pretty good foor an evil Mind Control Guy. Just another Filler villian that has no conection with Shredder. I know that the Silver Septer would appear again sometime. My rating 4 1/2 stars for good episode. Note from Underground Part 1: This one is good with the Sci-fi related stuff. Mikey acting like a B rated monster exspert. That dream with Mikey in the Utrom World seem like a sign. That Crystal powered Utrom elevater is more mysterious than before. The Mutants are one of a kind and created by Shredder's Techno Divisions. And that Techno Division Scientist acted like a scientist from a monster movie. I give it 4 1/2 stars for another good episode. Next week episode would talk a little more of the crystals and the Turtle would learn "The Utrom DAH DAH DAH!!!!" And that's what I have to say :D |
It was disappointing They didn't get to fight the monsters yet but it was only a part 1 of 3 anyway.
|
Yes.. it's called suspense. ;)
|
Oh man, I so totally loved this ep. Definitely one of my favorites. I'm really glad they've finally started focusing on the crystals, they've been hinting at them for the last few eps and I was hoping for a "slow build" instead of an "all the sudden" introduction, since they're obviously an important clue.
Loved the whole horror movie thing. I really thought it would get old, but you know what, it didn't, Mikey just made it work so wonderfully. I burst out laughing several times in this ep, and I need to redo my nailpolish 'cause the suspense had me biting at my nails. I agree Raph had some great lines in reaction to Mikey, I love how they get along like that. "You don't want to underestimate a monster!" Then Raph throws water at him. Okay, so maybe it was just me. And Mikey's "Meep!" was hilarious! The Foot symbol, yeah, we all saw that coming. At first I thought that "the enemies" might refer to the turtles, but the numbers don't add up. Literally. By day 345 (second clip) it was obvious they were refering to the other enemies. But if it wasn't the Utroms they found, what was it... And man, that preview just made the wait all that more unbearable, I almost wish I hadn't taped it. Almost. |
Just gonna say that I loved the episode, since everyone else has mentioned alot of the things I enjoyed (particularly the Mikey-Raph jokes).
One thing though. All this talk about these crystals has gotten me remembering about some crystals I believe were in the original cartoon. Something about the 'Eye of Sarnath'. Been awhile, so it's a little fuzzy. Anyone with comic knowledge, any chance these crystals could be of relation/inspired by the Eye? |
Well, I was actually thinking more along the lines of the crystals in the Don one-shot, but the old cartoon parallel is an interesting one, too.
|
This was not my favorite ep. by a long shot... but heres hoping that it's a good set up for a great part 2!
|
Excellent Episode, as usual. I thought Mikey's dream was of the Utrom Spaceship's crash site. Are we sure that's supposed to be their home planet? I'm not all that familar with the apperance of their planet from the old comics, so I guess you guys would know better then myself.
Mikey was great, also. And he got to narrate an episode again, go Mikey. I don't mind him freaking out, it fits who he is. Loved the "Meep". One of the things that bugged me about the episode, was it looked like they based one of the insect like mutants on an Olthoi from Asheron's Call. Lemme toss in a picture. :) http://www.tip.it/wizard/ac/gif/races/Olthoi.JPG |
I seem to be the only one who didn't really like this episode... maybe because I was in a lousy mood :|
I'll have to rewatch it sometime soon. |
I like the ep and i'm glad its a three parter.
|
I agree, it was pretty good. I still think the Shredder Strikes 2 parter will be the best in the series...
|
I liked it. Not my fav, but I liked it.
|
The mutation makes me think of T.C.R.I. but the Techno Divisions used a different prosise. So the lab appear to be abandon ever since Shredder had order the whole a complete faluire. I wounder if the Utrom Guardians would appear in part 2 or 3.
|
Good ep, love all the Raph lines, only problem is they were poking fun at Movies 2 and 3 and Next Muation. The cracks about the subway tunnels, and them running from the blue mutants (who match Venus' color)

I still say this was the perfect chance to wink at the old school fans, with a shot of a mutant looking Rhino and Warthog in the Foot Genetic Lab data files. I know Laird doesn't want them in the new series, but a wink to end all the talking about them would be nice. :) |
Good episode, but not the best. I'm assuming it will get better as the other two parts unfold. I don't remember who said it, but I too love all of the Cryptic elements in this series. The story being told is very deep. The writers for this show are truly phenomenal.
I loved the tapes of the Foot scientists creating the mutants. I especially liked the scenes of the scientists being killed by the escaping monsters (Weapon X anyone?). It was a cool glimpse into the dark and twisted world of the Foot Clan. This series has done a great job of portraying them as a truly vile organization. I also liked the scene were Raph accepts the lookout job. It was very Raph. I was not too fond of the monsters themselves though. Thier mutant abilites of melting walls made little sense. In addition there was little explanation for their extremely exaggerated appearances (claws, fangs, antenna). Personally, I think Leatherhead should have been introduced here. Leatherhead's backstory in the comics deals with both the Utroms and the Foot so he would have been the most logical mutant choice. |
i think in the show mikey or someone is wacthing tv and in a commercial a guy holds the mind control bug from the last ep. Did anyone else see it
|
Oh I just remember I noticed the bug! I also noticed a slight referance to TMNT3. Mikey said something like "I hurt so much even my backache has a backache!"....that was such a finger point to that part from TMNT3 where Mikey wakes up after being knocked out!
|
Hey guys, what's going on? Only 38 posts so far? Was the episode that bad?
