Slash...with a twist...
While listening to the episode of the What the Shell? podcast where they discuss the MCM Con in London (at least that's what I think it was called), specifically the panel with Kevin Eastman and more of the Nick crew, they discussed someone asking Kevin about Venus. And it got me to thinking that a female Turtle could work if done properly in any of the new iterations, as long as she wasn't the 5th member of the team or a long lost sister like she was supposed to be in TNM. A seperate, mutated female turtle could be kinda interesting.
Then I got to thinking about Slash, and I thought that maybe, if Nick made HIM a female, I would actually be pretty cool with that. The Turtles don't have a ton of classic female villains, and Slash has had a limited presence in the Turtle-verse. I actually think that changing Slash's sex to female would be a neat change. What do you guys think? Am I crazy for thinking this? Or does this sound like a decent idea with the rest of you? |
I think that d be boring...plus the battles belong to real men.
|
Would she still be called Slash, or would she get a new name too, because Slash doesn't scream female to me?
|
i think slash is a good name n it sounds like an ninja assassin name. it d be a good storyline that the turtles bring him back frm the darkness and teach him to use his power to do good things. n when u google the turtles wiki profile, its just easier: tmnt leo, tmnt raph, tmnt mikey, tmnt don, tmnt slash...

And I think Slash could work as a female name. It's not the most feminine(sp?) name, but I don't think it's overly masculine either. |
no, i think that d be boring. slash is a male turtle and will forever be a male turtle. and Fugitoid is a male robot and will forever be a male robot.
|
The reasons why some may associate Slash with masculinity are 1) the word signifies a primal instinct and women are generally not categorized as such, and 2) we've been used to Slash as a male character period. Making him a female would shake things up and if used, could open opportunities for storylines between turtles. I think it'd be neat to try out.
"Slash" is a verb and doesn't need to be relegated to a specific gender. |
no, i think a relationship between the guys n a female turtle is boring.

^ and BTW slash is not only a verb

yes it is. slash is associated to men, to men only and hulk is associated to men, to men only.

^it looks boring. that's why hulk is associated to men only .

Krow, my friend, believe me it's so not worth trying to "debate" the forum's "funniest" member.

Hey Krow, HUH UHHH GRUNT GRUNT HUH!
EDIT: Also, sorry Fuggie. A villainous female Turtle would certainly be an interesting change. It would be interesting to see if they are more interested in reforming her because of some misplaced romantic issue. |

A female Slash is certainly an interesting idea, and in the right hands could definitely be very good. Though I'm not sure if it's something I would do if I was working on the show (cause I'm not sure I would be able to do it right).
I'd love to see Nick come up with their own, unique, new mutant turtle character. Would be interesting to see what they would come-up with. |
i think a 5th turtle with a ninja assassin background d be cool. he uses a nice pair of daggers and help the turtles sometimes but always stay in low profile and never revealed himself to them. and his debut d be titled as " friend or enemy?" .

I really feel that the franchise could benefit from a female turtle character, if done right, and if they were to include Slash in the new toon/comic/movie, why not make Slash a girl? It could add a whole new dynamic to the character, rather than just a stereotypical Bizarro-like evil version of the Turtles. A conflicted, 'friend or foe' character that maybe the Turtles could also have the hots for would be interesting, I think (and it wouldn't give off the potentially creepy vibes that a human-turtle crush like Don and April's may give some people).
|
now talking abt my version of male slash: the ninja assassin turtle... hes the most mysterious turtle, with advanced ninjutsu skills, he has a dark background but he also has the good side and hes struggling inside....esp. after he met the guys, who awaken the good side of himself...
|
Fuggie Jones, how much of that do you think Nick could get away with? I mean, I can get behind the unsure of her allegiance angle, but the the whole female Turtle does take away from one of the reasons Raphie's angsty...they are the only 4...and there are no females. I'm sure Raph could be suitably angry despite that, but a "canon" female Turtle could open flood gates, especially one who has the possibility of going from enemy to ally, no matter how shaky.

Re-reading your post, this she-Slash almost plays like a Turtleized Ninjara. |
