For All the Naysayers, TMNT is going to be on XBOX...

...it was shown tonight at the Microsoft E3 press conference. I told you all to trust EB. :)

The Stryker 05-13-2003 01:20 PM

dang....thats more money to spend..(read,my life story)

Reznorite420 05-13-2003 01:47 PM

As if that really mattered to me...

Tokka-B 05-13-2003 02:46 PM

Darn, I was hoping this wouldn't happen, oh well, I am sure they probly had to bribe Konami a lot to get it, Konami probly won't make another game for their system once they figure out they get the least sales... :)

i actually agree with you :o  .

If i see any game on X-box i like, i'll just wait for it to get ported on the computer  .

Peanut 05-13-2003 03:14 PM

Tokka is there really any need for that? Why can't you be happy that more people will get to experience the new TMNT game? Personally I'll be buying th GC version, best controllers and best load times.

Karpo_007 05-13-2003 03:24 PM

X-box will be the second best looking version, but I will probably be getting Gamecube version. I to expect lower sales on X-box, because the target audience is probably mostly GC and PS2 owners.

Nturtle 05-13-2003 03:39 PM

Yeah I had already confirmed this in my last news post...

Tokka-B 05-13-2003 06:07 PM

There never is a need for anything in this forum....is there a need for this website?!? I just wanted to say that. Making games for the X-box will probably cost more than the kind of sales they will get...Konami made a bad moe this time....now I can only wish for a sequel... :(

SHUT. UP. How can releasing a game on ANOTHER platform so MORE people can experience it gonna make them LOSE money? Not to mention it will look and sound better than any other version. Plain fact. I was really happy to hear this news since I really didn't want to have to be in my brother's room all the time to use the Gamecube, not to mention my turtle gang and I all own and prefer XBoxes..But your bashing really annoyed me. Have some common sense and respect for other people here; it's just like when people get pissed about the old cartoon being bashed. I get pissed when people bash my XBox.

No ones dissing..its just common sense and a known fact Xbox sucks..=x

Peanut 05-13-2003 11:10 PM

Enough of the bashing. Everyone likes their own system. Each have their pros and cons. The game is coming out on all three consoles. The move to put the game on X-Box won't make sales any worse. If the game is good it will sell! No matter the console. Let's leave it at that.

Pidgeot018 05-14-2003 06:34 AM

I think people are worried that the new game will be exclusive to XBOX, which it won't. I think the biggest reason for "fanboy-ism" is that if you spend so much money into getting, say, a PS2 and it's games and accesories, than you may be rightyfully ticked off to see XBOX and Gamecube get some good stuff. It's like an investment, really. No one wants to see something they poured so much money, time, and emotion into go down the drain. Why, I remember back to the days of the 16-bt Sega/Nintendo wars. Those were some violent times...

What I'm really craving, however, is a compilation of Konami's old TMNT games, including the legendary Arcade Game. :goofygri:

Not neccessarily. X-box is not considered a console wich parent buy for their children. It is usually GC or PS2. X-box's target audience is older, and thats why GC and PS2 version will probably sell more.

And X-box version is not the best looking or sounding version, PC port is. But GC is probably the platform I will buy the game for.

Peanut 05-14-2003 09:40 AM

I mean overall sales Karpo. If the game is good it will sell.

Karpo_007 05-14-2003 09:42 AM

Yeah thats right. More platforms does mean more over all sales.

Not 100% true... Eternal Darkness is one of the best games I've ever played, it got awesome reviews from the press, fan sites were going nuts about it, and it flopped.

X-Box is geared about 80% towards adults. Most adults, other than the hardcore fans of TMNT who own X-Box pry woulden't be caught dead buying the game. I could see this selling pretty good for kids, but most kids want a PS2 or already have it.

It could acutally result in Konami loosing money if it dosen't sell enough units on the box. Games, even ports, are expensive to make.

You can do that on DreamCast using emulators

Mmhm.. Just as it's common sense and a known fact that what you stated was a very ignorant comment.

Tokka-B 05-14-2003 07:59 PM

A lot of what people here have been saying is true though, and not just ignorant thoughts or whatever you prefer to call them. Of what we know so far it will be sold on 5 systems: PC, GBA, X-box, Ps2, and GC. If they dedicate the same amount of game units for each system (which I think will happen between the consoles but not with the PC version), then each system owns 20% of the games. Having known Konami finds it difficult, costly, and not very time effective to make games for X-box, it might get the least sales. (Although I personally feel that the PC will get the worst by far unless it has a multi-player feature) So yes, it will be more sales overall, that is stating the obvious though. The problem is that if it doesn't sell well then a huge chunk of the game units they paid for go to waste, thus losing a lot of money. Again, most kids have GC or Ps2, their will be a much higher demand for units with GC and Ps2, if there is only a 20% supply though, that would mean Konami having to pay more money than it should have had to. I probably stretched this into some wierd scenario, but I don't know how 3rd party companies deal with 3 different consoles, so I made my own presumption.

Dane E5R 05-14-2003 08:06 PM

There is a difference between fact and "No ones dissing..its just common sense and a known fact Xbox sucks..=x"

Tokka-B 05-14-2003 08:16 PM

My point went right over your head...I never said it is true that X-box sucks, I said it was true that X-box PROBABLY won't get as many sales, there is a great chance.

Dane E5R 05-14-2003 09:33 PM

I never denied that you had a point. I defended the XBox..The other guy said it was common knowledge that the XBox sucked..Then I said that was an ignorant statement. Then you said "A lot of what people here have been saying is true though, and not just ignorant thoughts or whatever you prefer to call them." I don't recall ever saying that they were all wrong.. All I remember is pointing out blatant ignorance.

Well, then those who don't buy it because they see TMNT as a "kid" thing on the whole, then they're the dumb ones! :D

A lot of people can't get dreamcasts anymore though, and even if they can getting the emulator and cd's made for it would be a lot more trouble than slapping down 50 bucks for a single disc that could save game data (options, scores, times died, or what ever else would be worth keeping track of).

Peanut 05-14-2003 10:11 PM

I don't think Konami would be stupid enough to release the same amount of games for X-Box as they do for GC and PS2. I'm sure they'll have a limited supply for X-Box and if the game is in demand they'll ship more. Simple as that.

impetus 05-15-2003 10:23 AM

Dreamcasts are pretty easy to find, in the US anyhow, if not locally then on the internet. And cheap too! :D

Pidgeot018 05-16-2003 08:36 AM

I guess I should've said a LEGIT compilation.

Krangfan 05-16-2003 03:58 PM

I can't wait for the new game, and I'm gonna get it on Xbox. With Xbox I usually get the multi-console games, and for GameCube I get the Nintendo games.

(btw people, it's not X-Box!!! It's Xbox!!!! Stop spelling it wrong!)

 Yeah, death to microsoft!!

Tokka-B 05-16-2003 09:14 PM

That is taking it a bit far...death to X-Box is good enough, Microsoft created Windows, which is helpful most of the time... :)

Krangfan 05-16-2003 09:18 PM

:x Please! If you're gonna diss something, at least spell it correctly! It's Xbox, not X-Box!

Ninja Tiptup 05-21-2003 06:38 PM

Pidgeot018 I feel your pain man. I'm dieing for a compilation!

The Arcade Game, Turtles in Time (arcade version), The Manhattan Project, and The Hyperstone Heist would be awsome! All four with the super awsome cartoony arcade graphics (all with the same graphics I mean) and four player support for each. The game would be a shoe-in for an exclusive for Gamecube or GCN and Xbox. It doesn't seem to fit PS2 IMO. Konami has released Contra, Castlevania, Bomerman (by Hudson of course), and Arcade collections. So why not TMNT? Everyone loves those games (everyone here at least). The "legendary" arcade game got 3rd on G4's greatest arcade games of all time list (as voted by the fans on the Filterater). Only behind Street Fighter 2 (second) and Pac Man (first).

If nothing else Konami should release the first arcade game for GBA (or Turtles in Time) and add in 4 player link play. That would be well worth a purchase.

I've wanted a four player TMNT game since the N64 days. Why wont they give it to me?!?!? Ah well... I can dream.

As for the game being on Xbox. I wish it wasn't because it makes it less "special" being on everything. I agree that more people should get to play the game, but PC, GCN, and PS2 was enough IMO. It's not going to do wonders for the demo-graphic (as others have stated) and will eventually end up costing Konami money (like most of their Xbox games have). I do know quite a few "kids' that own Xboxes though so I wouldn't count it out just yet. Even so the GCN and PS2 version will sell the most and the Xbox and PC ones will sell just a little below. I can see the Harry Potter PC gamer croud picking up TMNT for the PC.

Though the Xbox one will not be different from the PS2, GCN, or PC games. They will all be the SAME. Look at the screen shots guys they are no different from one another. Konami would mention it if they were. TMNT was built for the PS2 (like most licensed games) and was ported to the other consoles and the PC. The only different game out of the bunch will be the dramatically different (for obvious reasons) GBA version. So it doesn't really matter which one you get. They're the same game folks. Because of that fact I plan to pick up the GCN, because I like it best (but first I need to get either that or a PS2).

Tokka-B 05-21-2003 07:30 PM

Actually it will look different...you are seeing screen shots from different systems on your same computer, you are seeing the computer graphics. If you actually get the game for both GC and X-Box then you will notice the difference. If it was the same, there would only be one console, and PC.

Ninja Tiptup 05-21-2003 10:20 PM

Why? Third party games come out all the time for every system and look different. What's the difference? I really don't see anything. They aren't system specific changes and if you arguing this for Xbox then let it be said that GCN can put out just as great a performance. Besides a hard drive and more memory the Xbox has nothing on the GCN (well except Xbox Live I guess).

If they were more console specific. Then why does Konami have only one site for all four? That could be that they are just lazy though...

Karpo_007 05-22-2003 04:46 AM

Most noticable diffrence is between PC and consoles. All of scree shot I've seen so far look pretty much same to me.

Dane E5R 05-22-2003 11:13 AM

:dead: You guys are killing me.. XBox has nothing on the Gamecube except hard drive space? That really makes me think that you haven't even been near an XBox. I sat in EB a few days ago with my buds talking to an employee for a good hour or so talking about the next gen systems, trust me guys, this dude was like the Brodie (Mallrats) of video games. XBox IS the most powerful, AND the nicest looking system. Metroid Prime, sure, that was impressive, but go download the Halo 2 demo and tell me that that doesn't impress you. I really dare you to. Oh, and all you people that claim that you'd rather wait for a game to hit the PC than get an XBox, well...Look at the screen shots of the XBox version of Halo, and then the PC version, and tell me they look exactly the same. Now bare in mind people that I own both a Gamecube and an XBox, and I've got a couple of the same games for both systems just for comparison.. Believe me when I say that there WILL be a difference in how these games look. And XBox will no doubt be superior. However, the game play and controls are what I'm interested in seeing.
