Another So-Called "Synopsis"
I was bored. I found this on a website. They've got all sorts of synopsis' for other films, some of which I know to be the real deal. Still, make of this what you will. It’s slightly different to that other one that did the rounds, as this one implies that the Turtles and Splinter are definitely from another planet, and it specifically mentions Krang:
After their planet's destruction, four turtle-like alien warriors and their master come to Earth, where they join forces with reporter April O'Neal to prevent the extradimensional conqueror Krang from enslaving the human race. http://archive.foolz.us/co/thread/38277964/ |
Misspelling of O'Neil makes me question validity...
|
I liked the first supposed synopsis better.
|
For some reason, that plot kinda (sorta) reminds me of "Masters of the Universe" (starring the incomparable Dolph Lundgren). And, like, that one worked out really well.
|
Though I'd rather have the other movie I believe this one more for some reason. Maybe it because of the alien line we got. Not saying it's true not saying it's true not saying it's no...whatever.
I am surprised this thread doesn't have more hate posts in it. |

I mean, the special effects were decent for that time/budget, and Frank Langella was brilliant (as always). It was even possible to actually understand a couple of Dolph Lundgren's lines! Plus he looked all, like, super-hot and stuff. Quote:

if the turtles r aliens, they wouldnt be unique anymore.

So April's a reporter again? I guess they figure the general audience can't handle a "smart" April.

I'm not a big fan of the alien aspect, especially because that limits other mutants showing up in later films. However I'm with Andrew on this one and think this will be very close to what we get. It sounds a lot like the plot to Transformers. Can't say I'm to surprised though.
The big thing this makes a problem with is the rivalry with Shredder. If they are aliens then it makes little since to have bad blood between the two. That has always been the biggest problem for me with the alien thing. |
Maybe, there won't even BE a Shredder in this movie....or just vague hints of him for the sequel (man that sounds vaguely familiar. :P)

Seriously. When are these studios going to learn that we don't need millions of movies like Transformers?!:tmad:
I'm truly hoping this isn't real at all. If it is, I may go see it when it comes out on DVD or something. Right now, the cartoon is what I have hope for. But seriously. If this is the plot to the film, then I'm not going to see it in theaters. Why do they always have to re-imagine them this way? The reincarnation angle is one thing, but actual aliens?! In that case, let's have a boy being mutated by a mutagen that will give him super powers so he can become Superman! Gees.:trolleye: However, this can't be the real story. With the movie being delayed, it may not go far with this story. Besides, didn't the director, Jonathan Liebesman, say that the mutagen was of alien origin? Doesn't that prove that we're going to get the true origin that the turtles have always had? |

Contrary to popular interpretations portrayed in the medium, reporters don't go wandering around hillsides completly oblivious to the fact Clark Kent is Superman, there incredibly worldly people. April being a reporter is her most ICONIC portrayal, nobody cares about his scienctific whiz-kid side and noone ever will. |

I do think that if it was Jeopardy, and the answer was, "This is what the TMNT's human friend April does for a living," the question would be "What is a reporter?", not "Scientist." It is more of what people are aware of in an "iconic" sense, I agree. I'd prefer it in the movie; Donnie's already a scientist anyway.
|
It doesn't matter to me much what April does. I do like the Reporter side simply because it allows her to get into some places that the guys can't simply because she is a Reporter.
|
Yeah I think it gives opportunities to open up the story more. Plus having someone else with a lot of scientific knowledge hanging around makes Donatello less "special", so it kind of makes no sense to diminish a main character in that way. I always liked "reporter April" better.
|
I agree, plus April as a reporter is what resonates the most with people. Its kind of part of her identity for most of us.

I like reporter April too. I've always thought it added a fun dynamic to the story; that she has an extremely public job and almost celebrity-like persona...meanwhile she's friends with a bunch of mutant turtles.
|
I think part of what makes the idea of her as a Reporter work better is the fact that it makes her more accessible for the general audience. Reporters are seen as more like normal people, like anyone could be a reporter. Where as a scientist is someone who is highly educated and out of touch with the majority of people.
The IDW comic is more for us old fans that know about the old comics. I think we will see teen April in the new show work for her school paper or something. The idea of her being a Reporter in the new movie doesn't bother me. I think part of what makes it not bother me too is the fact that we have other mediums where she is a scientist. I'm cool with seeing different takes on the characters. |
I don't think April was really a scientist she was just Baxter's assistant, and even when she was she was never shown having the job for very long. Of course it's not like you can't have both. She could start off as an intern to Baxter and become a reporter later.
|
What if April is a reporter, going undercover as Baxter's assistant because she suspects him of being a villain?
