With all the OT influence, is it safe to say Baxter will be mutated into a fly?
The Nick show apparently has more OT influence then originally expected, with Dimension X, Traag, etc. all apparently showing up.
I believe Baxter will do the usual mouser and robot suit routine for the first half of Season 1, and then in the second half he'll be turned into a mutant fly. I think Baxter would look awesome in CG in his mutated form too. |
Hm... I don't think they'll turn Baxter into a mutant fly, but that's just me.:ohwell:
|
eh....
Considering that was one of the weakest points in the 87 series, I hope not |
Hmm. I kinds hope not either. :ohwell:

I could see Fly Baxter as a punishment...if Baxter works for Shredder.
What if Baxter works with April's father? What if he is set up BY Baxter? You know, Baxter is the guy behind helping the Kraang abduct him. |

Fly Baxter would be cool to see again. I would love to see if he was a fly cyborg though if something was to happen to him.
|
Isn't the Kraang/Shredder connection still intact in this series?
|
he who lives like a fly deserves to be merged with a fly....

On that note since in IDW Baxter works for Krang, I can see something similar here. |

I don't know about the whole fly aspect of the character. It just seems like it has been done. Just like I don't want to see him become a cyborg again.

I'd hope so, Fly Baxter was one of the best things the OT came up with, while his tragedy of becoming a robot is alright, I much prefer the mutation angle. A nice transition is while trying to re-create his body he accidentally merges with a fly.
|
I hope so. So long as he looks cool and sort of in the spirit of the old toon and not some crazy reinterpretation that removes the core essence of the concept.
|
There's significantly less OT influence than I assumed there'd be. I don't think it's a given he'll become a fly.
|
he d look more funny than cool in a fly suit lmao!
|
I'm surprised that people want there to be as much OT as there is. I mean IDW seems pretty OT oriented and this looks to be aimed in the same direction. I'd like to see this be its own beast. I mean of course it can't ever be fully because it is coming after the original run of turtlemania. What if Baxter just stayed human? Would that be so bad?

Baxter staying human is incredibly boring. He's just a generic mad scientist until something terrible happens to him.
|
I used to feel that way, too. I mainly knew Baxter as a fly when I was a kid, so seeing and thinking of him as human felt weird to me. Over time, especially after getting into Eastman and Laird's comics and absolutely loving his 2003 incarnation, my preference has changed.
He still is at his core a character on whom horrible misfortune befalls, so I get where you're coming from. I just think that it doesn't always need to be the fly mutation. |
I just don't see the appeal of having the exact same thing happen again. I mean if I read a book and love it I don't want the next book to just be the same but with a new title.
Baxter hasn't ever been able to just be human. I say it is time we just let him be this time around. |

Since we already know Baxter wears cyborg armor to fight the turtles, it seems like we could get both incarnations here. He wears robot armor to battle the Turtles for awhile and could get mutated into a fly later on. |
My point is though that he doesn't need to mutate or lose his body until he becomes a cyborg. He could just be a normal guy. I don't know why people are so keen on doing the same thing over and over.
Take The Dark Knight and Batman. Both had the Joker and did their own thing with the character. It wasn't just a carbon copy. That's what makes both of them great. |

It would help the tragic disfigurement all the more tragic.
|
it would be cool maybe if he started to have a change or hart and then something happened to him. Like he gets disfigured while trying to save the Turtles.

Sorry, it just reminds me of Lost Skeleton of Cadavera. |
Not blame them, but maybe they blame themselves and he still joins them. That maybe they try to find a cure for him.
|
I'm hoping for a more developed rivalry between Baxter and Donatello. Simple as a concept, but I've never felt it was properly explored.
|
Yes exactly. Having them have a rivalry would be great. It would be kind of cool if they had a mutual respect for each other before discovering they are enemies.
|
I dunna....I mean, a man with an assumed doctorate and a teenage mutant prodigy doesn't seem like a gripping rivalry.

of course, I felt that his episodes were repetitive any way...but whatever... I say give the next Baxter a new gimmick... |
Merge him with Bebop ;-)
