Mirage style Shredder & Foot Ninja custom figures

These 2 were commissioned to go with the Mirage Casey I recently made. I've been wanting to make a Foot ninja (or twelve) for a while now, and I wanted to try out some new stuff on Shredder, like casting the armour & helmet...

The Foot ninja was a TNA Sonjay Dutt figure with a WWE figure's hands and Marvel Legends Sabertooth feet. Both heads, the skirt and all clothing details were sculpted in either Green Stuff, Apoxie or a blend of both. The weapons are made from wooden dowel, styrene and jewelery chain.

Shredder was also built on the TNA Sonjay Dutt body, with arms from another TNA figure (no idea which one), fists from a DCUC Doc Midnite and shins & feet from a ML Super-Skrull.

The armour was made by putting down a thin layer of Green Stuff to countour to the specific part, sanding that to shape, then putting a layer of Apoxie on top, into which blades were inset. The helmet was a styrene base sculpted over. I'd planned to mould & cast the armour for future use, but it proved too thin & fragile. All other details were sculped in either Green Stuff, Apoxie or a blend. The alternate Oroku Saki head is a resculpted ML Forge head.

Your work never ceases to amaze, Disco!

Doomsdayninja 07-24-2012 11:45 AM

Love this shredder

Lordmylar06 07-24-2012 11:49 AM

Incredible. Your work is what we should've gotten from the Neca line, and I mean this for all of your Neca style customs, Casey Jones, the Foot ninjas, and all of your Neca Shredder customs.

Good work on these!

Doomsdayninja 07-24-2012 11:51 AM

I have trouble getting my hands on a NECA turtle set, but I would LOVE to have a NECA style Shredder...

Marksenad 07-24-2012 12:48 PM

These are fantastic! You know how to impress! The foot have all different heads which are awesome, but shredder is perfect.

Well, there's only one Foot - I just 'shopped him...

MethodMan 07-24-2012 01:41 PM

Nice work Shredder looks awesome!!

Veedubguy83 07-24-2012 02:18 PM

Wow, those are all amazing!

Zulithe 07-24-2012 02:24 PM

They look great and make me wish I had the Neca turtles all the more

TurtleManiac 07-24-2012 08:04 PM

They look great, especially the Shredder. NECA should have released something like this if they had continued the line.

Candy Kappa 07-24-2012 08:17 PM

You are amazing

psychoandy 07-26-2012 12:54 AM

No wonder I could never find any TNA figures -- Customizers bought them all!

But, seriously! These look great, man! That Oroku Saki face is AMAZING, and I am jealous that you were able to make it, first.

Nelson 07-26-2012 12:56 AM

Very impressive!

Danakin 07-26-2012 01:04 AM

These are simply amazing.

TheCanadiandrome 07-26-2012 01:16 AM

Very cool! Love shredder

Discogod 07-26-2012 12:51 PM

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I put a lot of pressure on myself with these customs, they had to be better than anything I'd made in the past, but it paid off in the end. I'll never be 100% happy with anything I make, but these 2 are about as close as it gets.

Coro 07-26-2012 01:13 PM

Amazing work from Disco as always! Let me know if you are ever up for another Shredder commission.

Plasticplayhouse 07-26-2012 05:45 PM

Beautiful work man. You really nailed the NECA look. That shredded is as bout as good as it gets. I know cutting all those tiny styrene blades was a pain in the ass...but well worth it. I'm not really feeling the unmasked shred head. When I see it, it makes me think of Mugen from samurai champloo.

Donatello19 07-26-2012 07:33 PM

Awesome customs! the shredder looks almost exactly like the official prototype! Great Work!

TMNT-Collector 07-28-2012 12:36 PM

discogod, your work is truly some of the best i have ever seen, the detail you put into your work is astounding, the shredder is amazing, and i love how you can have it with and without the helmet

Jeez man, you're gonna make me blush...

Seriously though, thanks!

Venom 07-28-2012 02:00 PM

You...why the hell do you not work for a toy studio?

Whatswiththeheadbands? 07-29-2013 10:51 AM

Awesome work discogod!

you should have a go at the foot elite figure that NECA were going to make

Whatswiththeheadbands? 08-05-2013 02:01 PM

just to ask, what does TNA stand for?

TNA was a professional wrestling outfit. Marvel Toys (formerly Toybiz) made the figures for them, and they're some of the best super-articulated 6" figures ever made. I hoarded them for custom fodder when they were cheap and plentiful...

gunstarheroblue 08-05-2013 04:48 PM

frickin awesome Discogod..... beyond perfection!

Andrew NDB 08-05-2013 05:11 PM

How much would you charge for a Shredder like that?

Zachatello00 08-05-2013 05:23 PM

This might be the most impressive thing I have ever seen. Those are great!

Cowabunga Carl 08-05-2013 06:03 PM

I second Andrews question.

TonySiegel 08-06-2013 12:29 AM

simply amazing stuff

I'm not planning on making any more Shredders - at least until I can find a way to cast out the helmet, armour & blades. Otherwise it's far too time consuming. I normally spend 12-20 hours on each custom, but it's almost double that for Shredder...
