IDW: Year Two speculation

So with #12 out the first full year of IDW's universe has wrapped ending the current main story arc.

While we already know from previews the next arc is going to involve Casey's father, Splinter/Raph bonding and the Fugitoid, (as well as an old mutant enemy returning), what else do you expect to happen?

I imagine we'll finally see the full story about Krang and the Neutrinos unfold, I hope they work the Triceratons into it somehow especially since Fugitoid is involved. Seeing the Rock Warriors battle the Triceratons for the Fugitoid with the Neutrinos caught in the middle will be cool.

I imagine the Foot and Turtles will become full fledged enemies where the Foot will try to hunt the Turtles down. I can see more mutants being introduced, both good and bad. Old Hob might become more of a real threat. I think we'll see home human enemies too, possibly Hun or more new characters.

What do you expect or want to happen in year two?

Cowabunga Carl 07-25-2012 12:55 AM

I expect we will see Bebop and Rocksteady mutated, Baxter either become a cyborg or fly, Krang and Shredder go to war.

Sophie Campbell 07-25-2012 02:17 PM

i'm betting Muckman & Joe Eyeball.

Eh, is there really much more "full story" to unfold there? He stopped by their world and pretty much wiped them out. End of story.

I don't think we even know why they're at war, unless I'm forgetting something.

I am pretty certain this will lead the IDW Turtles to their first outer space adventure like in Mirage, and hopefully they work the Triceratons in somehow to connect to Fugitoid.

Um... he did? News to me, amigo. We still have some cool stuff to unfold.

corvus 07-25-2012 02:57 PM

I imagine the purple dragons won't be allies for long.

Oh. It's possible I might have been projecting my hopes that what we've seen so far of the Neutrinos (dead bodies, a decimated city) would be about the extent of their involvement in the series.

That would be interesting, but there are a few more characters I would like to see first! However,if you have influence feel free to add the two characters in.

One thing that I am concerned about is #15's synopsis makes it seem the turtles become willing to kill. That is perhaps the one thing I cannot get behind. Reincarnation is one thing but not killing. Some may perfer it the other way but its just not who they are to ME.

I would guess #15's synopsis is referring to Leatherhead? I have a feeling he is going to appear soon.

That is what I am pinning for. I hope its not just a fanboy dream and we see it really soon. All of what you said.

ToTheNines 07-25-2012 06:46 PM

Casey's dad assassinated, Slash, hopefully more Krang, and hopefully Splinter finally kills Shredder.

I'd also appreciate such a take on it.

That was one of my problems with the Mirage comics. I like having Shredder around for every few stories. Its not nearly as awesome without the coolest villain out of the picture! Though having it thought to be dead time and time again works just fine.

corvus 07-25-2012 10:56 PM

I don't think the antique shop will be around much longer.

CyberCubed 07-26-2012 12:06 AM

I can see the Turtles having their first outer space adventure soon. Most likely they'll go to Krang's island, escape with Fugitoid and wind up teleported to the Neutrino Planet.

I don't see it being exactly like Mirage's "Turtles in Space" arc, but I do imagine we'll be seeing the Triceratons as well.

TheCanadiandrome 07-26-2012 12:06 AM

I've got catching up to do

Galactus 07-26-2012 04:38 AM

A misadventure with Don's personality modifying ray, Capt. Phineas Filch and Professor Lloyd Cycloid, a teamup with Bugman and Gadgetman and Shredder using a machine to telekineticaly draw mens underwear towards him.

Splinter deserves his revenge though.

I think its about high time he and Dr. Polidorious teamed up and brought an attack against all the land lubbers to prove that Sea Dwellers are the dominant species. Plus it reintroduces Mona Lisa and I can't wait to see what happens when Raphael Meets His Match Again ("Sorry Casey I can't patrol with you I have plans.")

On a more serious note. I am really looking forward to the whole ethics of killing thing. I understand where Splinter is coming from when he says he doesn't want to waste the gift of their second life by ending others, but it is so odd to me that they have been trained to kill but won't ever do it. I'm not saying it needs to be over the top violence, but there's being heroic and there's letting the Joker continually escape and kill millions of people.

I definitely want to see Bebop and Rocksteady.

I very much hope so.

I'd be shocked if we didn't see the Triceratons at some point in IDW TMNT. I would bet the farm we'll see them eventually... but probably not too soon. They've put a lot of food on their plate and I think they need to clean a lot of it off before getting into all of that.

My guess is that when things get super crazy in Krang's interstellar war they'll show up. Rock Soldiers vs. Triceratons? I'm no Fred Wolf fan, but even I have to admit that'd be kind of cool to see.

CyberCubed 07-28-2012 09:36 AM

The Triceratons appearing is a no-brainer, but I would like to see them sooner simply because we know Fugitoid is appearing.

Fugitoid with no Triceratons after him seems wrong.

DarkLightDragon 07-28-2012 10:17 AM

Echoing the moment/reveal of Bebop and Rocksteady getting mutated.

I'm also thinking on how much of the Foot mini-series will explore outside how Saki came back to life.

-Did they come to America to lead the NY branch ala Mirage?
-When did their practice with mutation start?
-Possible mistreatment amongst mutated animals like Alopex. Does the Foot treat them like comrades, unnatural stupid freaks, or both? (Though the answer may be obvious at this point).
-Karai and Shredder's relationship. Based on what we've seen on how Shredder treats her, there could possibly be tension between them in the future.

Cowabunga Carl 07-28-2012 11:52 AM

My first post in here was really simple, but now that I've reread the first year a couple times since it was completed I think I can be a little more thoughtful.

When I say Bebop and Rocksteady mutating what I want is to see more of them first. I want to see them get into a couple fights and get their butts handed to them. If they are going to be mutated make it because there is a reason besides it is what happened in the OT. Then when they are mutated make them a threat. Don't make them goofy or stupid.

The idea of seeing the Neutrinos show up doesn't bother me that much. Plus I've always been a fan of the Mikey/Kala relationship. It would be fun to see the TMNT get dragged into the war because of Mikey wanting to see her or protect her. Let hom grow past just being goofy. That was one of my favorite parts of volume 4.

I think we are going to see something happen to Baxter soon. He failed and we all know how well that turns out for him. Poor guy can't catch a break. Now if it is fly or cyborg only time will tell. Either way I expect something to happen to him.

Of course there is The Shredder and Krang rivalry. Could Krang play a reason in why Saki is still alive? I have a feeling he does and that there is bad blood between them because Saki wouldn't follow Krang's plan.

I'm just looking forward to a second year honestly. I haven't had a comic book that I have kept being pulled for me in a long time. I usually do trades of series if I want to read something. This one is every month on the day it comes out.

Powder 07-28-2012 04:47 PM

I'm expecting a few new mutants, and hoping for some more ancient Japanese rooted things. Whether that's characters or plotlines.

That would be awesome.

I just finished reading #12 and as a whole, I really enjoyed the series. I would almost put it as my favourite incarnation of TMNT.

I don't read synopsis so when I first started reading I didn't expect it to go in the direction it did. There are things I would love to see in year two but I am more than happy to sit back and enjoy the ride and just be pleasantly surprised with what ever happens.

RskimB 08-01-2012 06:55 PM

i just hope we see some blood. nothing gory but it'd be nice to give the action more consequence

CyberCubed 08-02-2012 11:19 PM

Most likely Shredder and Karai's "revenge" on the Turtles will resort in the attack on the Second Time Around shop.

Its really no different than Mirage and 4kids, where Shredder is "defeated" in his debut but then comes back and burns their home down.
