Chick-fil-A is against gay marriage

I recently read an article on Xfinity where apparently the Chick-fil-A restaurants are against gay marriage. Apparently, they've always been against gay marriage.

I've eaten there and never thought it was. Only propaganda I ever saw at that restaurant was that sign with a picture of a cow holding a sign saying thanks for eating at Chick-fil-A.

I honestly thought businesses would be more tolerant to others in this day and age.

I never saw anything wrong with gay marriage really. I mean; so a man and a woman can marry each other for money or a green card but two men or two women who love each other can't marry each other because the bible says it's wrong?

That's messed up in my opinion.

And heck, in Christianity, you can go to hell just by thinking; I learned in Christian school that every thought you have is sinful, no matter what it is you're thinking.

Anyway, I honestly am not going to eat at a restaurant that's going to hate against homosexuals.

They sell chicken sandwiches and lemonade. People seriously care what their stances are on social issues?

Actually yes, there are people who would care.

Churches and anti-gay groups are supporting them.

An alderman in Chicago wants to ban Chick-fil-A restaurants, the mayor of Chicago is supporting the alderman, and Jim Henson Co is pulling their toys from that restaurant.

And they take the profit from that sale and use it to support groups that oppress rights of millions of Americans.

They might be against gay marriage, and that is their opinion, but I'm not sure if it should be taken too personally as long as they don't deny service to customers just because they're gay, or deny people jobs because they're gay. They didn't even say that they wouldn't do those things either, did they? There's even the philosophy of loving the sinner yet hating the sin. I'm against smoking, but if I ran a business, I'd still support customers who are smokers, and give jobs to smokers.

Also, that Christian school you mentioned sounds very radical. Not EVERY thought is sinful. Even the ones that are, you shouldn't go to hell just for thinking those thoughts as long as you don't wallow in sin. They should be teaching that God is forgiving. So if you're truly remorseful of your sins, you just pray for forgiveness.

The Stryker 07-27-2012 06:39 AM

The restaurant that is very openly super christian and is closed on sundays doesn't look favorably on gay people? No way.

Food's delicious. Don't care. Im sure other places are involved with worse things. Its not as if every time I get some waffle fries they execute a homosexual.

DonatelloFan 07-27-2012 06:40 AM

Could not care what their stance is. I'm against gay marriage, but if they said they were for it, it wouldn't make me want to not eat there. So they take a stance, who cares? I don't know if it's widely known (I thought it was), but ChikFilA is a CHRISTIAN company. They don't hide that fact, they actually promote that fact.

And even though people knew that, the only thing people are upset with is the fact that the CEO formally announced it. So as long as it's not told to the masses, gay people and their supporters can just keep their heads in the sand, right?

It just doesn't make sense. So the f*** what if a company doesn't approve of gay people. It's free speech, get over it. And sadly, protesting is also free speech (but sitting outside CFA's holding dumbass signs is just stupid), so more power to 'em.

And I realize I'm in the minority in this day and age, but I'm still weighing in. It's just sad that if you take a stand against gay marriage, you get torn apart by anyone and everyone.

All of this. They're have been more than a few gay employees I've been helped by while ordering food. They don't discriminate, or refuse service to gay people or gay supporters, so what the hell is the problem?

And yes, whatever Christian school you went to, is a bad one. That's called brainwashing. They want to control every aspect of your life.

And yeah, they're closed on Sunday's, and are VERY open about being a Christian company. It can't be that shocking...

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I do worry if it would ever happen of that restaurant denying a person service or a job because he or she is a homosexual.

That's why the Christian school said you had to pray. So that whatever you said would be pure in the eyes of the Lord. They taught God was forgiving but yeah, believe me, they told me that every thought you have is sinful; that's why you had to confess your sins and pray out loud for forgiveness. If they're wrong about that, then I'm honestly grateful if they are. If it makes you feel better, that school doesn't exist anymore; got turned into a charter school.

This thread makes me wonder why anyone would be against gay marriage, if its consenting adults who have to pay the same taxes you do, how/why does it even affect you?

Yep. This is pretty much how I feel about it.

It's not like they refuse service to gay people. And I used to work at Chick-fil-a in high school. Trust me, they hire gay people. Or at least the one I worked at did.

BubblyShell22 07-27-2012 07:31 AM

I just heard the CEO is against gay marriage. As far as I'm concerned, he has the right to be against it if he chooses as long as he doesn't discriminate against gays and refuses to hire them. If he does that, then he's breaking the law because most jobs aren't allowed to not hire someone based on race, religion, or sexual orientation. I've never eaten at CFA, but I've heard it's good food. I'd probably try and eat there once if there was one in my area.

Candy Kappa 07-27-2012 07:51 AM

Religious group against gay marriage? Next is soda pop is bad for your health!

AngryChad 07-27-2012 07:52 AM

I wonder if you replaced the word "gay" with "black", how many people would feel differently about the situation.

We'll never know. So there's no use bringing race into this.

I dunno. People aren't protesting KFC and those f*ckers manipulate black culture like nobody's business. Popcorn chicken IS good though.

This. Homophobia is just another version of racism.

Uhhh. no it's not. Gay is not a race. It may be a form of discrimination or bigotry. But by definition, it is not racism.

To tell you the truth it doesn't make.

Why should a freaking fast food chain even care about gay marriages?

And yes I think anyone gay or straight have a right to be happy.

That's what I meant with "another version of racism". It's the the same level of stupidity in another context.

I agree with every word you said. I keep my anti stance to myself and only express it in the voter's booth if/when it was up on the ballot for my particular state. It would be nice if everyone did that and not crap on each other for their beliefs.

Lance_Steele 07-27-2012 11:17 AM

Can't argue with that

I am sorry you were taught by such Heretics.....

But anyways Im with Nines on this one, I dont think people should really care about their social issue, bc they only reflect the head of the company and not every individual working in it

I feel the same way, I'm Baptist. I go to church, I'm against gay marrage But I don't hate gay people. My Fav. brother in law is gay. We get along great. He knows how I feel but I never put him down or anything. We are friends. The Bible says there is no little sins or big sins. Also says were all sinners... So, I'm no better than a gay person! I have my own sin's to battle. Jesus can save us all.

They WERE wrong about that. Like I said though, you don't WALLOW in sin. As humans, we're liable to screw up at times, but like I said, just don't WALLOW in sin. If someone cuts you off on the road, just try to resist the urge to flip them off. If someone calls you a bad name to your face, try to resist the urge to punch them in the mouth. If you try to resist, yet fail anyway, you just ask for God's forgiveness. He knows your heart.

By the way, I attended a Catholic high school, and they even had Jewish teachers. There might have even been some gay teachers too. There were definitely a few openly gay students as well. I knew a Jewish woman who was even a dean at a Catholic school.

Don't forget the New Mexico whiptail. It consists of females only, and engage in mock mating to increase the fertility of their eggs.

Zulithe 07-30-2012 03:14 AM

It's been common knowledge since they opened that they were a Christian-based company, their stance doesn't surprise me, but the way in which they heartlessly felt it had to be proclaimed does. As a gay person I don't think I will be eating there... but to be honest I've NEVER eaten there yet. So far in life I've just never come across one of their restaurants. And for the time being, I think I am okay continuing that way.

BubblyShell22 07-30-2012 06:53 AM

Yeah, I don't agree that the CEO had to even make that statement. He should've just kept it to himself. If he was asked about it, then I could see where he'd make the statement, but I don't think he was asked. I think he just outright said it.

I wouldn't say being against same sex marriage means you hate homosexuals.

I'm not surprised they are against same sex marriage. I'm not sure it's a good business strategy in today's world to come out and say that though.

Maybe not hate, but still those who are against same sex marriage is still against homosexuals having the same rights as "normal" people have.
