Do you love Pizza because of the 1987 Ninja Turtles cartoon?
http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...T/cdd3f397.jpg
The 1987 Ninja Turtles characters always had such a good time talking about Pizza, eating pizza, etc. Pizza may as well be considered a regular character in the series. As a young kid you absolutely loved the TMNT cartoon, you watched them eat pizza/love pizza, and you ate pizza along with the show. Growing up you continued your love for Pizza, it is one of the most delicious foods that you can think of. Today you still pizza, and you still love the TMNT. Is you current love for pizza co-related with your childhood memories of watching the TMNT? When you eat pizza do you think of the TMNT? |
I don't eat pizza that often ( trying to stay healthy and what not) but I love pizza probably my favorite food and of course watching the show did remind me of it.
|
To be honest: YES!
I remember when I was a little Boy I always asked my parents to get a Pizza or go to the Pizzaria because maybe the Turtles would show up to. I also tried several variations like the turtles did, when we made our Pizza ourselves but most of them didn't tast good ^^ |
I bet this is a yes from at least 75% of Dromers. Need I remind you of how buddy/buddy the turtles were with Pizza Hut? I would beg my parents to take me to the Hut, it was HUGELY popular with kids throughout the early 90's and I am positive that the Turtles were a big part of that. I still cant watch an episode of the OT and not get a craving for a slice.
|
Useless to answer since I'm Italian :tgrin:
|
I remember loving pizza before the OT series. There was a place my grandma use to take me and my bro. If anything it intensified my love of pizza.
|
I would like to think I'd have fallen in love with pizza anyway because it is my favorite food even today - I mean, cheese, tomato sauce, maybe some meat, what's NOT to love? I'm big on cheese anyway.
That said though, I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a likely origin of my pizza love even if it just continued when I was 'out' of Turtles for a while. |
hell no, i've always loved Pizza. but i'll tell ya, after seeing some of their topings, it's enough to turn a person off pizza
|
I've always loved pizza and always will, regardless, but they have no doubt influenced me to eat it more & to try unique toppings.
|
I wouldn't say I like pizza because of the turtles, but it certainly makes eating the stuff more enjoyable!:tgrin: And yes, eating pizza makes me think of the TMNT!:tpizza:
|
I have always loved Pizza. Probably before the Turtles came around (Can't really be sure). I do think the them when I'm eating, but I was never influenced to try different toppings.
Our family never really varied our routines. It wasn't till I met my wife (girlfriend at the time) when she introduced me to all the wonderful assortments that are out there. Now I don't think we ever get the same topping combination, if we can help it. ~S~ |
For some reason I didn't like pizza as a child (I know, crazy, right?) but after I was introduced to TMNT, I was encouraged to try it more often and eventually got to a point where I loved it. Shreddhead's statement definitely applied in my case--TMNT was all the reason I needed to go to Pizza Hut.
While we're on the subject of pizza, I'm curious -- has anyone here ever used a TMNT recipe for pizza and actually eaten it? (Like this guy did?) That could be a fun project. |

I just really like cheesy food, and pizza fits the bill.
|
Before I saw the show, I don't think I had pizza that often. After seeing how much the turtles love pizza, it was enough to make me hungry for it. I used to have a fantasy about acres and acres of land being made of pizza cheese wishing it would come true. Now I don't really like cheese. But I still like pizza with just sauce on it. Seeing what the pizza looked like at the end of Enter The Fly made me love pizza with just sauce.

I was a preteen when the 80s turtles were on TV. I think all people (and in particular, kids) love pizza by nature -- it's simply a great food that is both delicious and very cost-effective in feeding a lot of people. However, I think there's no denying that TMNT contributed to an EXPLOSION in popularity of pizza and it probably saw a good 30-50% or more increase in sales across the board throughout the late 80s and early 90s.
I think to this day, the TMNT's influence on pizza probably has something to do with how popular it is. |
I do atribute my love for pizza with the Turtles, haven't had many weird toppings save the ones from Larry's Pizza.
|
Of course not, thats ridic...oh, yes-yes I do :trazz:
Ive had peanut butter pizzas, and even a vegemite pizza along the way...yuck! |
No, I love pizza because it's pizza. I do remember being about 10 years old and throwing whipped cream on a pizza because that's what the turtles did. It was nasty. Never again did I try to do weird pizza toppings because of the turtles.

:blanksta: Sure. If it wasn't for the TMNT making it cool to like pizza, I'm sure I'd hate it today.

YEs and no, meaning I liked pizza before but Turtles just exacerbated it. :D
|
The cartoon didn't create a love for pizza, but it has definitely influenced how much pizza I've eaten in my life. :tcool:
|
i would say yes- even now when tuesday comes around and it is time to list my tmnt auctions... i always want to order pizza for dinner :)
|
To a degree.

No, but every time I eat pizza think about the tmnt.
|
:D perhaps... nah I've always liked pizza.
|
Kids today don't have the turtles and they love pizza, most of us would love pizza even if TMNT didn't exist.
However I definitely associated and still do [pizza] with TMNT and it made me want to eat pizza even more. In conclusion I don't love pizza because of the turtles but I do think of the turtles and associate pizza with it and like to eat pizza if I'm in a turtles mood. |
In a word.... YES!!! Never even heard of pizza before the Turtles... or maybe ate it once or twice... But hey, I was 12 when I first hard of em. Since then, the pizza mania lives on.

No, I liked it before, but my mom did buy me lot's of Ellio's pizza, because they promoted the TMNT, they had cutouts of the turtles on the back. :)
|
Sadly I don't remember which came first, though I have a feeling my first experience with pizza was before I got into the TMNT.
|
To be honest, Pizza wasn't my main course until I saw the 1990 live-action movie. When I saw the cartoon and they were eating pizza, I didn't get excited and want to eat pizza too.
Then, when I saw Ninja Turtles II, and the opening credits with everyone eating pizza...I guess I got hungry. I eat healthy too of course, but every now and then when I order a pizza, I (and quoting Michaelangelo) give a moment to reflect *smells the pizza* |
I used to only eat the topping off the pizza, but I was encouraged to eat the whole thing like the turtles did. So I guess I can say I do.
|
When I was a kid, yes, but I didn't like pizza cheese. So, that made things problematic for me, as, I, too, wanted to take part of the pizza-mania the Turtles created. These days, I love the cheese, but pizza doesn't always love me. It's a half-measure, but I'll take it.
Wish video for this was available: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/0...d-eaten-video/ Turns out you really shouldn't eat the weird combos Mikey and the others in the 87 series suggested. Go figure. |
I love pizza. Whenever I eat pizza, I eat the last slice with chocolate syrup on it. But some times I put ice cream on it instead.
|
Actually I got into Pizza (Pizza Hut) in the early to mid 80s when they had those bendy martians and the flying saucers for sale
|
i always loved pizza, but the turtles made me adore it!
