Vanilla Ice in TMNT II
Hey dudes (and dudettes!),
Just wondering what you all think of Vanilla Ice's short apperance in TMNT II? From what I've read on various mailing lists I lurk around on, the majority of people hate the scene because it's so goofy and camp and that the turtles are supposed to be dark and serious ninja's who keep to the shadow's and not ones who would party in a room full of human's yada, yada, yada. While that's true I and I agree, I think the nightclub scene's really funny. It always makes me laugh, especially when I look back and remember how crazy people went over Vanilla Ice during his Ice Ice Baby days. So what do you think of the scene? Crap camp or cool comedy? Cast your votes! |
Trust me, you don't wanna know what I think about Vanilla Ice. Seriously tough, the whole movie was silly unlike the darker original one, it isn't Vanilla Ice that makes it so much inferior.
|
Being a fan of the sily side of the TMNT world, I loved everything "Secret of the Ooze" had to offer! But I will admit that the Vanilla Ice segment just puts me to sleep.
|
When I first saw it I was fine with it, now it makes me cringe and I'm caugh between watching one of my fav scenes and fast forwarding though it beacues of the blasted background music
|
I haven't seen the movie in years, but didn't the Turtles just bust through a wall and find Vanilla Ice on the other side of it?
|
the 2nd movie would of been much better if instead of viny they put like I dont know nirivana, alice in chains.....sound garden
or even better show vinlla being killed or mangled by tokka and razor that would of been better |
How about Tony Bennet?

There is no way Nirvana or AiC would have done it.. I'm not sure about Soundgarden, but they seem sillier. Plus none of those bands were really famous yet, and they needed a "Teeny Bopper" Icon to do the scene. |

And I don't know about you, but my parents wouldn't have let me see the movie if they were in it |
I'm a fan of the sillier side of the Turtles too, I love everything about the second movie :D
|
It's pretty funny that Vanilla Ice had such a "family friendly image" since we've since learned that he was getting wasted on coke, smack and booze every night, and eventually tried to kill himself. Not like "hah hah" funny, but like, y'know, ironic. :P
And I think everyone agrees on the single greatest thing in "Secret of the Ooze", the sole thing that made that movie the classic that it is... "BIG DADDY COOL" KEVIN NASH! TMNT2 RUNS ON "DIESEL POWER", BAY-BEE!!! |
I don't know, I don't think it was too bad. Certainly not good, but it didn't ruin the whole movie.
Okay, so I just liked it because of Raph's dance moves, is that so wrong? |
if they would've done this movie nowadays they would have some weird person like that guy who was with n'sync then went out with spears just to stop the gay rumors
but it would be cool to see my idol in a TMNT movie raphael and conan o' brien now thats some action! |
They should have used someone timeless, like the absolute greatest singer/musician of all time: RAY CHARLES! :)
Wouldn't that be great! It'd be like the "Blues Brothers" but with Ninja Turtles fighting monsters in a dance club! I'm serious! It would ROCK! |
maybe george dubya bush! then it'll be a hit cuz we'll get the hillbillies in the theaters! zing!
and for the ending shredder will impale bush on a flag pole and for once the four turtles and saki will share a cowabunga! then al gore will move into the white house after cheney dies ending with a patented "THE END?" |
:thumbs up: YES! I LOVE IT! :D
|
I already came up with the perfect "Director's Cut" ending for TMNT2, some ways back.
The TMNT face off against SuperShredder, when suddenly, Shredder removes his mask and helmet to reveal KEVIN NASH himself. Nash's "nWo Wolfpac" Music plays as he proceeds to JackKnife Power Bomb each of the TMNT off the pier in rapid-fire succession. Hell, he could take out Vanilla Ice too, for good measure. Of course, there's still ten minutes left in the movie, so Kev proceeds to dip into his usal bag of tricks as he stands in front of the camera, mic in hand... tossing his hair, making jokes about Scott Hall being in rehab, "shout-outs to HBK", jokes about Lex Luger and Viagra, and statements like "the only thing real about this movie is the money"... this continues through the closing credits, with Kev not stopping even after he is cut off by the screen fading to black. If the movie ended that way, it woulda been Oscar-worthy. Seriously. |

If you want to download the Vanilla Ice's Ninja Rap please click here:
http://www.tartarugheninja.it/download/Ninja_RAP.zip Yes, i think that Vanilla Ice appears in the seconds movie when the Tokka and Rahazar lost the battle against the TMNT and they returned a Dog and a Turtle... But i don't remember correctly the movie |
Banilla Ice makes me do a full body shudder.

Although the TMNT trilogy is one of my favorite movie collections of all time,
I still think the 2nd movie installment kinda made the turtles look bad... New Line Cinema should have left the trilogy to F.H.E. EX. In the first film, April, was about to ask the turtles to hide... but they already did before she could open her mouth. OTOH... In the 2nd film, The turtles hear someone knock on the door and they all scramble wondering, 'uhh.. what'll we do?' As for Vanilla Ice... he sucks! Him being in the film does nothing except show people how fre@kin' old the movie is. It's just about as big (not quite) a mistake as putting N' Sync's 'Bye Bye Bye' in X2. |

I aplogize for the triple post...
BTW, does ANYONE have a GOOD reason why they picked TOKKA and RAZOR instead of BEBOP and ROCKSTEADY???? |
Why does everyone hate Vanilla? I feel sorry for the guy.

Back on topic, Just be glad the movie wasn't made now, it would have been N Sync IN the TMNT movie. (Although learning Scott listens to NSync was really funny, wasn't it?) |
I have heard that Laird regrets how he had virtually no controll over TMNT 2. I doubt he and Eastman are the reason R&B didn't appear.
|
I still think Nash should have pushed one of the turtles into a corner and started slowly elbowing him and kneeing him while looking dazed and confused. Of course if he had done that everyone who watches wrestling would say...."wait haven't I seen this before?" during a Nash match....wait a minute....they've been saying that for years.

BTW... I think Jean probably used his car more than him, y'know how girlfriends are... It was probably her who left it on N'Sync. |

You HAD to get me started!! :D *Is referring to the fact that she is a Vanilla Ice AND TMNT fan* I have to agree with Matthew138 on this one. How can you hate the guy since he appeared in the movie? I think that it was a strategic carrer move for him to even BEGIN to agree to be in that move! He could've come right out and said "no", but he agreed to do it...just to give his fans something to say to friends like: "Yeah, I saw him in the movie! Did you?" Shame on those who hate him! You ought to be ashamed.

Vanilla Ice said it himself on VH1 that he felt like a sellout after doing the song.
