How old were you when you saw Ninja Turtles the movie?
8 here when i saw it 4 times in theaters and loved it as i was waiting for the movie since it was announced in late 1988 in Starlog magazine and been waiting until in late 89 they showed a still picture of Leonardo as i gasp then it said coming March 1990 as i couldn't wait.
9 or 10 I'm really not sure...
I was 10...
I took my first steps as an infant just so that I could approach the TV, which had a VHS of the film playing on it. True story. The rest is history.
I was 10 such a long time ago.
I was 11. Good times!
~S~ |
It came out when I was just three years old.
I was 5, and got it in on VHS for Christmas 1990. It did frighten me a little bit and forced me to gravitate back to the cartoon.
I was 2 when it came out. I saw it when I was 5. So 93
I had to have been four or five. I remember owning the VHS and watching it all the time. I loved it. I wasn't even aware of the second one until I had my Adenoids removed when I was six and my friend lent it to me to watch while I recovered. I still preferred the first. I think my favorite memory though was when I was seven and my mom took me out of school early to see the third movie. We had a guy from Nasa there talking to us and then I was called out for an emergency. I was all nervous then my mom was all its fine we're seeing Ninja Turtles 3
I was an impressionable 9 year-old boy! Unfortunately the first time I saw the film I fell asleep during the big fight scene with Shredder. My cousin woke me up just in time to see the part where Shredder got crushed by the garbage truck.
The first one? I was five. I actually do remember going to watch it very well. I also remember being very disappointed that neither Krang, Bebop or Rocksteady were anywhere to be seen. But yeah, even at five, I do remember a feeling of profound disappointment. Of course, as I've gotten older, I've grown to love it. It really is an excellent film.
10. I was mostly a fan of the Archie comic at that point.
I was like 4-5 years old when I saw it.
I was just shy of 6 when it came out, and my mom took me to see it opening day. I started out as a fan of the action figures, then the cartoon, then the Archie series, so as a little kid some stuff confused the hell out of me, mostly Splinter not actually being Hamato Yoshi. Once I got a chance to read the Mirage series when I was a bit older, the movie instantly became infinitely more enjoyable.
Also, I remember my mom whining the entire car ride home and to everyone she talked to about taking me about Raphael saying "damn" multiple times. |
I was 18. They had a marathon of all the Ninja Turtles movies on TV, probably because of the release of the then new TMNT movie. I didn't get to see the third movie though because it was already 11:00 and I had school the next day. From what I've read and seen of it though, I got lucky. Loved the movie then and I love it now.
My personal favorite scene is when Danny tells them he has some pizza leftover. Donatello get their first followed by Mikey and Don asks him "Question, do you like penicillin on your pizza?". Followed by the two singing that sad melody and slowy lowing it to the ground, like the Pizza was a fallen soldier. It's cheesy, but somthing about that scene makes me laugh everytime. |
I was two that year. I've loved the Turtles since before I can remember anything.
i was 6...seen it with my cousins who were around 11 at the time
5 in 2004 it was even better then
I was 11, I remember loving it so much, especially because it followed the story of the early Mirage comics and because Shredder was big and bad just like there.
I really can't remember, I didn't watch it in the cinema, think I watched it when it first came out on VHS, so it would have been whenever that was. I was born in 1988.
I was around 8 when I first heard of it coming out.
I found out after getting a box of that god awful cereal they had. But for reasons unknown I didn't see the movie until I was 10 when we moved to Germany(My Parents were Military). I borrowed Parts 1 and 2 from a friend of my mom's. |
I was about 12. TMNT was the last toyline/cartoon I was really into before I gave growing up and giving up toys a shot. It didn't work out too well.
I loved the movie though and would end up seeing it four times total at the theatre and countless times on video. |

Who else was surprised when Raph cussed? i did when i saw this on the big screen but didn't bother me. And who else was shocked/surprised when they saw pictures of this movie in a Starlog magazine including seeing the trailer to it in theaters and seeing poster ads of it in comics especially Superman comics? i did when i was 8 and couldn't wait. |
I'm old! I saw it in theaters when it originally came out. I was 9-years-old.
Who knew it would be the highest grossing spring movie ever and the highest grossing independent film since Halloween? afterall the film was a crowd pleaser and made as much big money for New Line as their Elm Street franchise.
Who else remembered the teaser to it during Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3? |
I was turning 3 when I went to see it in 1990.
My mom took me to see the movie opening night but it had sold out so instead we watched TREMORS. The next night we went back out and saw Ninja Turtles and I remember thinking how much better then the cartoon it was. I was 5.
Probably about 7, as it had just come out on VHS at the time.
I think I was 5 or 6 when I saw the movie for the first time, also had my first taste of alcohol
The first and second movie I saw on TV in the early 90s when I was about 8 years old, my mother recorded it on VHS because I had to go to bed
The third movie I saw in the cinema (in Germany the film was released around 1994). But a connection to the comics was missing (in my childish opinion). Missed the Foot Gang ! |

I was 8 and I saw it in the theater opening day with my mom and grandmother
I was 8.
I remember being completely immersed in the hype, as well as the film itself. Much like the previous year with Batman. |
I didn't see it in theaters, but we did get it on VHS, so that was my exposure to it. I was about seven or eight when I saw it, and I loved it. Still do.

I was 5. I'm pretty sure I saw it in theaters. I even remember seeing the "sewer lid" poster cased up at the theater with the lights all around it. I remember seeing the sequels, as well. When I saw TMNT II, there was some promotion going on where you traded into Kool-Aid packages (or proof of purchase tabs) and got a free Michelangelo dollar bill. They did something similar with the Jetsons movie, where you turned Kool-Aid points into the theater concession, and they handed you a free Jetsons "Spaceship" toy. I can vaguely find some trace of the Jetson promotion, but I can't find any trace of TMNT II promotion. It might have been something the theater itself was giving away, and nothing related to Kool Aid points.
I remember the Dick Tracy promotions. I think it was McDonalds (?) who had collectable cups. |
