Your biggest disappointment being a fan
Most of the time, we really enjoy what something has to offer. However, there comes on occassion (though not necessarily for all) in which you couldn't quite get what you were hoping for, such as making straight A's or getting hired for a job you really wanted to get, or a friend that overlooks yourself. Please explain your letdowns and shortcomings here, as it can be a good lesson for those who feel down and can be touched by these stories when you're feeling a bit down.

2003 show's Shredder origins

When I realized Mikey's nunchucks were removed because Europe banned them.
The red sky season. When Archie TMNT was canceled. The Next Mutation(I actually had high hopes for that series). The Third Movie. |
The fans turning on Laird during Volume Four's run.
|
the no conclusion for vol. 4
no neca shredder/foot soldiers FF & BttS |
I never got to eat the Ninja Turtle Pies or the Pizza Crunchabungas, and have always wanted to. :tsad:
|
I'd have to say the NECA deal.
Or that there are no actual missing episodes from the 80s cartoon. |
The never released Playmates stuff.

As a kid I wish the original cartoon went on forever, or at least up until the Pokemon era.
As an adult I can't say much, I liked parts of both Fast Forward and BTTS and Seasons 8-10 of the OT. |
I thought for sure you were gonna start griping about the DVDs, CyberCubed! :trazz:

A okay. Thanks for clarifying, Jester. Personally, I've always wanted to see variants of the TMNT in their Stump Wrestling costumes.

I would say a toss up, the very idea of Venus and its culmation in what would have been a childhood dream team and it was not Might Morphin meeting the Ninja Turtles but an aweful mess that ended the TMNT's appearances of television for five years. That tied with the Image comics giving horriffic injures to the green team with such violence all around. Both were big letdowns to be as a preteen and as a young adult still are. Not thinking any better half a life later proves the level of bad both were. |
I have to say some of the seasons of the OT. When I was young I watched the OT, but mostly the 1st season and the pilot episodes, When I started watching through the OT and its entirety I was dissapointed by at the tone the show had taken in a few seasons, I always imagined the show would share the same tone as the pilot eps.
Second biggest let down was FF and BTTS especially bc I thought BTTS would return to its roots from season 1-5 |

I would say never getting to see the "Shredder Wars".

Its for the best we didn't get to see that in the show, it would be cheap writing. |

NECA wave 2, Playmates Comic turtles even thought they looked extremely inferior.
|
The thing I hated the most in the 2003 cartoon was when during the last two episodes of Season 5 the Ninja Tribunal and the human acolytes appeared from nowhere, alive and fine.
I was mostly enjoying Season 5, but when they came back to life with no real explanation I was pissed. Also, they were useless. The acolytes help the Turtles to kill the Foot Mystics, which it would have been more satisfying if they had done by themselves. And the Ninja Tribunal do nothing, despite all their powers. If they had died, I would have liked these characters a lot more. I'm ok with not killing recurring characters, but these guys never appear again (if you don't count the cameos in "The Journal" and "Wedding Bells and Bytes"). Couldn't they have stayed dead? |
The Neca turtles figures being out of stock... seriously
if any big thing I have to be disappointed in is the fan war between which incarnation is the best... I mean does it really matter? |
Never getting the Forever War after it had been hyped up for the 25th Anniversary.
Those Playmates figures based on the Mirage comics would have been pretty cool, too. |

I jumped the TMNT ship when Power Rangers came out, so I missed all the red sky stuff on OT. I've been watching that stuff for the first time as the DVDs came out. So that was never a disappointment to me.
I think the first real TMNT disappointment was Next Mutation. It was the first time I saw turtles stuff and just didn't like it... |
I was dissapointed that they dumped a lot of really great characters(yes,Mona Lisa included)and were never revisited.
|
F*cking Forever War. TWICE we got screwed out of that. That's my biggest.
I agree about Next Mutation, that was the first time I'd ever seen anything TMNT that I didn't like at all. Movies II and III weren't great but weren't all that awful either, but they definitely disappointed me in how they were nothing like the first movie. Also, I really wanted to like the first NES game more than I did, but I think it's not so good. Memorable, definitely, but not that good. |

Biggest regret by far is selling off all my 70's and 80's toys and comics, when I had a brief "I'm an adult now" period in the mid 90's. Shoulda known I was going to grow out of that. :P
Really wanted more out of the 2007 movie but still appreciate it for what it was. Lastly.. I'll add my name to the NECA mourners. Just imagine what they would have produced had the line continued. Great thread idea. I think I've let it all out now. sniff.. |
1. The Next Mutation. I really hated how they treated that series and Venus.
2. FF and BTTS. I was so let down for those seasons and pretty much try to pretend they didn't exist when writing fan fiction. |
- I agree on Mikey's nunchackus removal. Didn't know it was a problem with Europe. What happened exactly? Anyway, very dumb idea.
- I agree on the general tone of most episodes in the OT too. Silliness and childish humor took over a bit too much in comparison to the pilot and the early episodes. - The fact that many of my favourite characters from the toy line didn't appear in the show at all. - The fact that most toys after 1992 weren't imported in Italy. |
The first and only time I was dissapointed by anything TMNT related was TMNT cereal. I wanted to like it so badly but the taste made me nauseous.

my biggest disapointment as a fan......... warning this very touching.......................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......................was.......................w hen....................my sister-in-law set my pop tart on fire! :( .................................................. ..........................................then she dropped it in the garbage disposal after killing my hampster with it, and almost setting the house on fire, I can still hear the screams of my hampster named Flem-bob. I have been so horrified by his death i'm still going to therapy.

Anyway, I guess my biggest dissapointment was how in the final two seasons of 2k3 they changed the tone and animation. |
