Which is your favorite TMNT Series?

It's a hard run.
The original series is classic, more amusing, but it changed the story a little bit from the original comic book.

The new series is more serious, has way more action, and follows more closly to the original comic series and movies, whichever.

I think the Red Sky series is out-classed here.
and the live action even more than RedSky.

SlayerX 05-22-2003 03:30 PM

I'd say this series. I can't remember alot about the old show (other than what i watched on kazaa) but I can remember most of these episodes, so i'll say the 2003 series :)

The 7th Turtle 05-22-2003 03:37 PM

well.. i can't really tell what's my favorite cause it's 2 totally different kind of shows... (i'm not even thinking of red sky or the live action :dead:)

but the old show is a true classic so i had to choose it...

Reznorite420 05-22-2003 04:04 PM

Orignal series "anime"?

The Old Series changed the story "A LITTLE"? The only similarity was the names of the characters. The New Series or the first movie changed the story "a little". The Old Series completely ignored the Mirage storyline.

Well anime is the japanese word for animation, so maybe that's what he meant? *shrugs

Anyways, I go for the new series the best, even though I still love the original

Karpo_007 05-22-2003 05:38 PM

As long as I have known Mirage, I have prefered it's Great Story telling, deep characters and of course the Family aspect. Old show lacked this while the new has every one of these. Therefore the choice for me is easy.

Tetsu Deinonychus 05-22-2003 05:47 PM

The first season of the old cartoon was animated in japan. Also, i think the first season was fairly mirage based though not nearly as much as the new show.

I voted for the new show however. It totally outclasses the other TV series.

Karpo_007 05-22-2003 05:52 PM

Wel I don't know if the first season had that much mirage influence in it, but it has the best animation of the show and I like it far better than anything that follows.

Tetsu Deinonychus 05-22-2003 05:56 PM

It had the foot crime wave. It had Baxter and the mousers. It had a battle with a street gang. And it had the TMNT rescue April. That's about it.

Karpo_007 05-22-2003 05:59 PM

Actually thats right... There seems to be few similarities afterall.

Shellfox 05-22-2003 06:03 PM

Since noone else ever will say it, as far as shows go Next Mutation influcned me more so than any other the other series

Krangfan 05-22-2003 07:13 PM

The original for sure! It had so many of it's own original ideas, such as the Foot clan being robots, and the whole Dimension X thing.

XERO 05-22-2003 08:52 PM

As much as I want to see the old show again, the new show has it beat.

Better Action, Better Humor, Better Music (though the Original Theme Music is legendary), and of course, Better Turtles. 8)

Ninja Tiptup 05-22-2003 08:54 PM

It's too hard to say which is the best series. I'm quite partial to both the new one and the original TMNT. I like both equally, but I LOVE the originals theme song.

InsaneZane 05-23-2003 12:03 PM

Wow, Over 100 views and only 19 votes so far...
I guess it really is a hard question, huh?

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 12:24 PM

Well it's like comparing Terminator and American pie. Two totally diffrent things, I guess it's possible to like both equally. I watched whole old cartoon during last summer and fall, and came to the conclusion that I've over grown it.

That Matt Guy 05-23-2003 12:24 PM

I like the original, but it is not anime! :x

Barkworm 05-23-2003 12:26 PM

When I was a kid TMNT was always my favourite cartoon show but nowadays I have totally lost interest in it. I still enjoy other old cartoons I watched like Transformers, MOTU and Bucky O'Hare but if I watch one of the old Turtles episodes it's just... well it has a few laughs but that's it. It's a bit sad since I loved the show that much. Anyone else feel the same way (and can say it without bashing)?

Any cartoon made in Japan can be counted as Anime. Last I read it was made in Japan, so it could be Anime.

My favorite would have to be the movies if they count... then the new cartoon, then the old, then the comics (as i've only read 4 total TMNT comics, i can't really judge them too well).

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 12:30 PM

Im not sure if telling how you feel is considered bashing, but I feel the same way. But it's not just the TMNT, I get bored with every show with same format, IE Villain has a plan, heroes stop him, Villain runs away, new plan in next episode. After fourth season the ratings began to drop to. Red sky was a radical move to get them back up and it worked. I still think seasons 8-10 are the best after the 5 part miniseries.

That's too technical, the word anime conjures up images of dough eyed guys with spikey hair or giant robots. I don't think of the old TMNT toon when I hear the word anime. Just because it was drawn in Japan doesn't make it anime.

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 12:32 PM

Only the first season were done in Japan. You can tell it clearly, the animation totally changes in the second season.

Deathknight 05-23-2003 12:49 PM

I never could tell, always looked the same to me. Although some of the characters were drawn differently... Baxter looked a lot different in season 2 before he turned into a fly. As much of a good job as an excellent job they have done on the new series I'm a classic fan all the way. The new tmnt has humor but I'll never get over how much I enjoy watching the old series and laughing at how funny it sometimes was. I also will never get over the technodrome, a really sweet battle machine that beats the heck out of Shredder having a meer building IMO. I also liked the cast better. In the new series I really think they made April look a bit slutty. I mean she's supposed to be a really smart scientist yet she wears this skimpy outfit. I also like the old Shredder, I said it in the new series forum and I'll say it once more. I found Shredder to be a wus in the new series when he fought in episode 11. Only once did he fight them fairly, all the other times he just waited for the turtles to be distracted by foot soldiers or whatever and knocked them over. What kind of pathetic strategy is that? The old Shredder was an overconfident idiot who thought he was superior to everyone but at least he took the turtles on sometimes. Although he did have Bebop & Rocksteady + foot soldiers fight a lot he had his share of times fighting one of the turtles or Splinter. The one major simularity I'm seeing between the 2 Shredder's is their dependency of their minions. New Shredder wouldn't fight the turtles without his foot soldiers and Old Shredder usually didn't fight without the help of Bebop and Rocksteady taking on a few of the TMNT. Just my thoughts.

I agree, but The new one fills me with the excact same feeling the old one used to. I feel more nostalgic watching the new one then the old one because the feeling of getting up early on a saturday to watch an all new ep. of TMNT is back. The magic didn't go away, It just transferred to the new series. :)

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 01:00 PM

I like the original serious TMNT over the humour, ever since I laid my eyes on Issue #1. You say new Shredder is a wus, you don't understand the character. If it were only the 4 TMNT vs Shredder, they might have a chance of winning. Of course he uses his army. In this world character aren't immortal. And the main thing: Shredder is not a honourable Ninja. Attacking from behind suits the character perfectly. And who did run away as a result of every battle?

Tokka-B 05-23-2003 01:24 PM

Not an honorable Ninja? That is an oxymoron, honor is the way of the ninja...

Anyway, I liked the old one, each show was complete and had a lot less commercial annoyances.

true true! I hate all those friggin' commerical interuptions during the new show!!!! :x

Nturtle 05-23-2003 02:11 PM

Alright, you're a newbie so its okay, but Krang has pointed out a lot that he doesn't want people making 'Which was better' threads all the time, mainly because they lead to a lot of arguments which get preety nasty.

So cut it out with these.

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 04:55 PM

There hasn't been any argument yet, just change of opinions. And Tokka, yes Shredder is not honourable Ninja. Yoshi's Last words "Those who live without Honor will end without honor". Thats how it has always been in TMNT.

InsaneZane 05-23-2003 05:37 PM

The commercials are especially annoying for me considering i record each and every episope on tape.

Karpo_007 05-23-2003 05:56 PM

Luckily I don't have that problem, I download the eps and they are add free. Except the applegators.

same here

Tokka-B 05-23-2003 07:31 PM

Don't worry insane, Nturtle just gets annoyed about these types of threads, but if you want to post them I see no harm.

Anyway, yea Karpo I see that, but even that is only Yoshi's view on him...if Saki himself claims he is not honorable, then I see your point.

TheShredder 05-23-2003 07:34 PM

I say the new series its the most serious.

cqb101 05-23-2003 07:53 PM

New series by far.

BTW, TheShredder your sig is really cool.

and would it be my fault you haven't educated your self on what the vast majority of anime REALLY is? dough eyed guys with spikey hair and/or giant robots is such a small sector of anime, its like saying all comics are exactaly like TMNT. I know you won't change your oppinion, but at least be informed  .

That doesn't automatically make it "anime" per se; I keep trying to tell you that to me, "anime" is a genre/style of cartoon, not just a cartoon that's simply drawn and/or animated by Japanese.

EDIT: Well, looks like Matthew beat me to it.

Reznorite420 05-23-2003 09:57 PM

And for the last time, when will all of you understand that a true fan of TMNT doesn't like one universe over another; if it has the TMNT lable on it, it's good, IMO. The only thing that I don't regard as TMNT is TNM

Tetsu Deinonychus 05-23-2003 10:02 PM

Rez you twice read my mind.

But, I was saying the old show could be considered anime, not that I considered it anime.
