Official Episode Discussion: #3 "Turtle Temper"
Hi everyone...
Well, here we go! The third installment of our young teens in green. This ep will be posting in early October, but I thought we may as well get it up for people to start thinking... I am SO happy to see TMNT back on television again. I remember how much fun it was for everyone to jump on each saturday to discuss the day's newest episode, over-analyze every detail, and generally have a great time. We had also posted a poll in these threads each week. So be prepared for some good (and sometimes cornball) questions in the future... Hopefully that will help our old-timers and newer members get comfy and mingle. :) So! No matter what universe of turtles we're in, some things never change: Mike is a hyperactive brat, Donnie's a nerd, and in this episode's case... Raphael's got anger issues. Looks like Splinter may need to give Raphael a little lesson in anger management... if the poor boy can't handle sibling banter, how can he handle the average New Yorker? Hopefully he won't be having any ideas involving Raphael singing "I Feel Pretty" on a bridge in Manhattan... I think I'm gonna love Splinter's 'lessons', if they're like this... And of course, in this world of youtube, twitter and the like, everyone's trying to be the next big star. And this kind of footage would be worth $$$ to the right (or wrong people). So the boys may have their hands full if anyone catches any footage of them. The turtles are going to have a hard time trying to stay out of sight in this modern world's technology. Let's just hope that Donatello's self-taught knowledge of these things will be enough to get them out of hot water with the media... (I have missed doing this! :D ) WILL THE BOYS FIND THE VIDEO?! WILL RAPHAEL GET CONTROL OF HIS ANGER?! WILL MY CAPSLOCK EVER STOP WORKING DURING THIS PART OF THE POST?! You know the drill... STAY TUNED!!! |
Alrighty, everyone... opening up for the day, enjoy the show! :)
|
Having you do topics like this brings back memories...
I probably won't see it 'til late tonight. Got work :/ Last week I was "lucky" enough to be "able" to stay home sick. |
Can't wait for this episode, I hope we see some more of April, but i don't think that will happen until the episode "New Friend, Old Enemy".
|
Watching the preview it seems Mikey names the mutant, "Spider Bite" like he named Snakeweed.
Unfortunately this is starting to feel repetitive to me. This episode seems to be the same "mutant of the week" formula they kinda used with Snakeweed. I hope this does not bode for the future. I don't want every episode being another mutant fight with Mikey naming all the mutants in every episode. Hopefully this ep is better than the previews make it look. |

I thought Michelangelo naming the punk after he mutated Snakeweed was a one off thing. Here he names Spiderbites. That was one of the handful of second wave figures correct? I don't think I like this design like I did Snakeweed. It seems cartoony not scary or cool. If only Michelangelo could give Oroku Saki's alias its name!:D
|
It doesn't bother me at all that Mikey names the villains, after all they always have the weirdest names. Makes sense that it's because Mikey named them.
|
I think there is no need to worry, you worryheads;)...
this is just a running gag, doesn't mean that this will happen in every episode they are facing someone new... I wish everyone able to see it in I think a few minutes actually much much fun! me?i'll probably be able to see it tomorrow..but I enjoy your discussions about it.. |
Official episode discussion: Turtle Temper
Lewis Black as Vic... epic :)
|
Watching it right now and have to say I'm glad that they are jumping into Raph's anger sooner rather then later. Also I'm enjoying having someone who just wants money as the villain. I mean there is no reason other then this guy is just a jerk for him being a villain. It's kind of fun to see no vendetta against the Turtles.
|
I loved Mikey casually saying "Spider" during the pan over.
|
Great episode so far. Love this show!
|
Yet another mutant.

You mean you weren't already before? |
Haha Chuck Norris next week! LOL. Great fight scenes! Loved this episode. Lewis Black did a good job.
|
Was that Chuck Norris in the ad?
|
This was a pretty cool episode. I loved the part this one part with Splinter:
"Spike, chew on your leaf if you want to hear a story." *Spike chews on leaf* "Very well." Can't wait for the next episode. We get to see the Foot and a pre-mutated Dogpound in action!:tgrin: Quote:

And it is cool we get Dogpound next week. |
Love your episode posts! Definitely one thing I've missed
Anyways I liked this episode. Yes the mutant thing is a a bit repetitive but hey...it is a children's cartoon. I like how this show always makes me laugh. I love how The Krang's talk. Excited for next week! |
"That's some kung fu, frog."
Lewis Black was funny, and he had some great lines. I suppose he'll be back. |
We should show this picture to Krang, LOL.

Haven't seen the episode yet, would you say the episode is better than Rise of the Turtles?
|
Sorry for making a double thread. If anyone is able to lock it, by all means please do. I thought it was really awesome that Lewis Black guest started on the show and did the voice of Vic. I am also starting to like The Kraang's humor more and more (the scene where one of The Kraang's comment on how good he looks, as he watches the video Vic recorded of the fight between them and The Turtles). While Spider Bites does look cool, I still love Snakeweed. Since Spider Bites got away, I assume he may possibly come back but I loved the joke Donatello. The human form of Vic was really annoying (as he was intended to be). Overall a good episode.
Also, you'll notice that before someone gets mutated, there is a brief foreshadowing (as The Turtles enter the warehouse their is a scene about spiders. In Rise of the Turtles, when they Turtles integrate Snake, you see a glimpse of tree). When The Kraang talk about Kraang (the leader)I get more anticipated for his debut. |

Well that episode was just delightful. I'm glad that the borrowed the Yoshi was also angry in his youth story from the IDW comics. I like that even though Leonardo is the Splinter Jr. that Splinter and Raph shares elements as well. I liked the whole Raph and Mikey thing in the beginning, I've said it before and I'll say it again I love how brotherly the group feels in the new show.
Spiderbites was a pretty decent villian, I was shocked when he started barfing up the corrosive slime, it was a nice way to make the guy who probably had no experience with fighting a serious threat to the Turtles. Also liked that he was just a guy and not some enemy from the past. I also really liked how he was basically a human surrogate of Raph, kind of a this is what you may become if you keep giving in to your anger. Also liked that Raph was big enough, even before his talk with Splinter, to know that there was a time and a place for his anger and tried to save Vic from the Krang. Very happy that they dealt with the Raphael anger thing up front. Even though the scene where Leo, Don, and Mike were insulting Raph while shooting arrows at him was a little heartbreaking. It served as great character development for Raphael who has others have said didn't seem to get a lot in the first episode. It was refreshing to see that this Raph is the insecure and lonely Raph from the original Comics, the masks his feelings behind his anger. What was even better was that even though that is his MO his brother's are fully aware of it. Finally to address everybody an their fears of it being a Mutant of the Week show, I have a strong feeling that next week will break the trend. I feel like we will be introduced to Chris Bradford and an animosity will begin to fester between he and the Turtles which will eventually lead to his volunteering to be mutated once the Foot and the Krang form and alliance (or the Foot get their hands on some Mutagen). Either way very excited for the introduction of the Foot next week and I also love that they seem to be including the Shredder Elite in the show... I hope that we eventually get a figure of them |
Chuck Norris should voice Tatsu if he ever appeared!
There is always wiki, but I never heard of Lewis Black before an hour ago. What is he known for? I know a lot of obscure actors through the ages especially voice actors, but not this guy. |
I thought this was a great episode! I really like the back story splinter gave to explain why Raph needs to control his temper. And did i see Chuck Norris in the preview?

I really liked the episode, even though Raph is my least favorite turtle. I can't wait to see next week's episode!

Makes sense Lewis Black would play that kind of character on TMNT. Other roles he's done was in the movie "Accepted" with Justin Long. He was also on an episode of Law and Order Special Victims Unit as a shock jock. It does make me wonder who else they would get for TMNT. |
I missed the first 15 minutes, so I'll catch it again at 1.
|
It makes ense why I never heard of him. I looked through his filmography and have not seen anything he was in. He seems to be a character actor that plays off a certain comedy routine that made him known to some.
It would make sense for us to look through voice actors/actors that Nick has used in the last 5 to 10 years for its shows to see who might match a character upcoming. |
That was a good episode, I really enjoyed it.:tgrin:
|
I liked Mikey actually defending himself against Donnie.

Hmm, if I had a dream team of voice actors for TMNT 2012 it would be: Robert Englund (did voice of The Ridder in The Batman. Aside from playing the iconic Freddy Krueger, he could do a kick ass job as villainous mutant.). Paul Rebeuns (maybe not a mutant villain but a human villain). Frank Welker (I would like to have actually him voice a character then do monster and animal voices). Bruce Campbell (possibly could play The Flaming Carrot). Curtis Armstrong Tim Curry Larry Drake (hasn't done anything since 2009 but if anyone is a fan of Darkman he does have that villains elegance to him). Chris Ayres (did the voice of Freiza on Dragon Ball Z: Kai) Trying to think of female names lol. |
