Official Ep Discussion: #4 "New Friend, Old Enemy"

Welcome back to our next installment of our boys in green...!

Alright, so we FINALLY get to see our first glimpse of Shredder and the foot. After catching a glimpse of a scarred, evil-incarnate Shredder from the premiere, to finally see Shredder in full light is going to be AMAZING...

I love Mike... he's so eager to get to the surface and make friends with the human world. Unfortunately, he just can't catch a break. Ever since he came to the surface for the first time, every time he tried to make friends, the humans either freaked out and ran in terror, or they tried to kill him. Even sweet, adorable kittens lashed out and turned him into a claw sharpener...

Well, that may change. He's had enough of being picked on and getting tormented by his brothers, and the whole being stuck under the sewers. He wants to make some friends. Ones that even have some similar interests as him... sounds great, doesn't it? Finally a human that he can get along with. With April's help, He manages to get online and makes friends with the famous roundhouse-kicking ninja master known as Chris Bradford (or Chuck Norris, in this world...).

Ah, Mikey the internet noob....

Things are going to get crazy. No cancer-curing tears, or widespread impregnation's when Chris walks into a room. Looks like Bradford's involved in some very suspicious activities... ones that threaten the safety of the entire Hamato clan. Mike's gonna learn that men and things are not what they seem - and it's going to be a very harsh lesson on social human interaction...

SO...

Will Mike's expectations of his childhood hero be crushed?
Can his brothers save him before something BAD happens?
How kick-a$$ is Shredder going to be?!?!

Stay Tuned!!

Presumably for people to rate the episode. :)

I normally don't laugh to comments, but that was Hilarious! Lol :) :)

MikeandRaph87 10-13-2012 09:06 AM

So Clancy "Luthor" Brown ,who was said to voice a character in the show is going to voice Shredder's lastest righthand Chris Bradford,Mike's wannabe friend.

I do like the way the fight is choreographed with the Foot in this episode!

Jester 10-13-2012 09:07 AM

We think so...not enough dialogue for a conclusive guess.

Mikey does a Kamen Rider Ichigo reference during his kata

I like the lesson of this episode: don't fight fairly, do what it takes to win.

Nice... very nice. :tcool:

Moonlight1102 10-13-2012 09:17 AM

This episode is so funny. :tgrin:

It could be Myspace,Twitter,Digg, or even LinkedIn if not some generic social network!:twink:

Bradford's partner for this episode is he just some generic punk or will/is this character of any significance?

I like seeing Splinter strongarm Leo!:tlol: Its a nice change of pace from Mke getting hit by Raph or someone else.

Especially when you have ninjas trying to kill you.

They really made Mikey "cute" in this show.

sykosis 10-13-2012 09:22 AM

Best episode since the premier

I don't know a lot about the upcoming episodes but I think Bradford and that punk will turn into Dogpound and Fishface. I haven't researched anything, I'm just saying what i think will happen.

Moonlight1102 10-13-2012 09:25 AM

Is Chris voiced by Clancy Brown?

Lex Luthor a mutant? Chris Bradford is Dogpound? The punk(Xever?,what kinda name is that?) is Fishface? Bygolly,I think you got it!

oldmanwinters 10-13-2012 09:30 AM

"Ha, ha... Revenge!"

Tomoshibi Amatsu 10-13-2012 09:32 AM

I really liked this episode, and I'm starting to like Mikey a bit more in this series. I especially enjoyed that they let him be the one to beat Rad Brad.

I agree, I liked the episode alot. It was way better than turtle temper in my opinion

vagrant718 10-13-2012 09:34 AM

I like the 'fall of the foot clan' pose before they fought the foot

Anybody else caught that?

ComicBookBoy 10-13-2012 09:37 AM

I didn't like last week's episode very much, but this episode was pretty, may I say, SWEET! I've been watching cartoons since 7:30 this morning leading up to the new Ninja Turtles;and it was the best show I've watched today. I really like the fight scenes, better than any other action cartoon on Nick(excluding DBZkai).

NinjaMan 10-13-2012 09:37 AM

Gosh I love this show. I'm a huge Transformers fan and I love this show more than the Prime show. The characters are so awesome. Loved the fight scenes. And Xever I believe is Fishface.

HerpDerp 10-13-2012 09:37 AM

Loved this episode, it was much better than Turtle Temper IMO. I like how Mikey actually got to have his revenge on Bradford/Chrissy B/Rad Brad and did so using the same move that Bradford taught him. Oh, and "UNFRIEND".
Great action scenes.
Love the relationship between the brothers and Raph's little pep talk at the end.
Splinter is awesome, but I was kind of surprised when he beat Leo with his staff. Harsh. :P
Laughed when Mikey thought the guy under the helmet was "that guy with the cat".

pannoni1 10-13-2012 09:38 AM

Great episode, I liked it more than last weeks, and is on par with the two-part premiere. my.face as a Facebook reference was cool, there were two pizza references (Mike to Chris, and at the end of the episode). I also noticed that April's laptop had an anachronistic '90s dial-up sound to it. We also know that it's currently in the middle of the summer based on the Chris Bradford billboard.
Knowing that Splinter/Leo saying that its just the beginning of Shredder's revenge provides a great cliffhanger to the next episode. I predict that Chris and his Xever are being swept back to the Kraang, though their mutation shouldn't take place until around the middle of the season since we still have Chris and Xever in a couple more episodes. It seemed like the voice actors are starting to get into the series a bit more confidently here even and the animation was good.

I've noticed that it helps to have lights off for watching this series as many of the indoor fight scenes have low lighting as if the lights are turned off. Still, it's cool seeing the first battle in the sewers along with the first fight with the Foot. I thought the way the Foot got defeated during the final battle was cool, since it didn't catch Chris and Xever's attention, which eventually led to a Turtles victory. We also got a first Turtlenapping of the series in the form of Michelangelo, who I predict will be kidnapped more than any other Turtle in this series, and possibly more so than April.

With next week, since in the OT Baxter drove the Turtlevan, I feel we may see the debut of the Shellraiser next week.

DarkLightDragon 10-13-2012 09:39 AM

Another well done episode.:)

Really did feel bad for Mikey in some parts and I especially liked how Raph was actually nice to Mikey near the end. Hopefully that will cast away the "Raph is a bully" bandwagon from the last episode.

XERO 10-13-2012 09:42 AM

So Donatello has a secret candid picture of April eating a pizza as his wallpaper...

Issuuuuuues.

zaktheneutrino 10-13-2012 09:43 AM

By far my favorite episode since the premiere. I loved the part where Brad, Xever and the foot followed the turtles into the sewer. The scene had an edgy/darker feel to it, especially when the turtles walked out of the water when Brad told them to show themselves. They looked awesome, mirage like! This show just keeps getting better. The mix of action and comedy is perfect. I'm guessing that Brad and Xever turn into Dogpound and Fishface now after being washed through the sewers. I liked how Chris looked though, almost like a foot elite. I would enjoy seeing his human form for at least a few more episodes, if not longer.

Was Yoshi called Splinter before he mutated? I was confused as to why Shredder said Yoshi is still alive and Brad responded with "We will find Splinter". How does he know that he's Splinter/mutated? If I'm correct, Shredder only has Yoshi's throwing star as evidence to his survival.

FoxZerro 10-13-2012 09:45 AM

This episode was crazy good and by that I mean good and a little bit crazy. I know its insane but each time I watch the show I have tears in my eyes they have nailed these characters so well in this incarnation and it makes my heart swell with pride and I can't help but shed tears of pure joy at how they are being represented. Mike in the show has already impressed me but you add in his curiousity and desire to connect with humans and he is quickly becoming the more dynamic character on the show.

The entire opening sequence was spot on TMNT and very exciting. I have to agree with Leo that it was nice to see them fighting actual humans instead of aliens. They showed a great dynamic in the fact that they could easily waste the meatbags that are the foot ninjas and then were totally overwhelmed by someone with a little more training. I especially enjoyed Splinter's lesson to Leonardo imparted in a way that is sure to cement those facts in Leo's mind.

The best part was this episode acheived exactly what I wanted it to. As soon as I read Dogpound's bio on the back of the toy, I wanted Chris and one of the Turtles to become friends and then for Rad Brad to ultimately betray them. The inclusion of Xever in this episode was a great touch and when these guys eventually do mutate, I already believe that they will be more of a threat than Bebop and Rocksteady ever were.

Hopefully this episode has ceased the fear of the show being mutant of the week or repetetive. If each episode could be this good then we have nothing to worry about.

It was called My Face... nice little Portmanteau of MySpace and Facebook and I great joke too

NinjaMan 10-13-2012 09:51 AM

I liked Raph's little talk to Mikey. Felt like a real brotherly moment. And I can't stress enough how the brotherly dynamic between these 4 is being nailed each week.

Cryomancer 10-13-2012 09:51 AM

Did they screw with the timeslot? Switched over to catch it and it was already half over.

Anyway from what I did see, horray, we can punch people directly in the face in this show. So at least the violence isn't completely toned down.

MrTMNT2012 10-13-2012 09:51 AM

HOLY CRAP DID THIS EPISODE KICK @SS!!!! To all the people who thought there weren't enough Ninja moments in the new show, They MUST see this episode. Loved the character development for Michelangelo and the Humor was Spot on! The fight scenes were great like Don countering the Ninjas attacks was really awesome. Overall a much better episode than last weeks, 9/10 :) :) :) :)

chrisdude 10-13-2012 10:01 AM

Awesome episode! Lots of laughs.

From the rescue, through the sewer fight, I was nothing but impressed. I love how they've put effort into the little bits where they could've gotten away without it. The flip competition, how the running on the rooftops, the teamwork attacks, the way they repelled in...
I'm having trouble expressing how happy I am with how cool everything looks :o

TurtleTitan97 10-13-2012 10:06 AM

This was a pretty great episode. I loved the fight in the sewers between the turtles and Bradford. Also liked the pep talk Raph gave to Mikey. :tgrin: And Mikey was just awesome.

Cure 10-13-2012 10:17 AM

This episode was really sporadic.

Keno 10-13-2012 10:20 AM

Great episode. Great mix of humor and action.

marcelangelo 10-13-2012 10:21 AM

hi guys...I cannot see the episode so far, but it shouldn't take long until I will be able to see it;)...
I am so thrilled for new episodes, makes my weekend really;)...
I am very happy about some of you mentioning a fall of the foot clan pose somewhere in this episode as this game holds a pretty special place in my heart...
glad you all seemed to enjoy it!
