fraud check - Baxter Stockman mustard tshirt

I recently bought a Baxter Stockman from a well known ebay seller...When it arrived I noticed the top of the bubble was detached from the card, a large enough space to slip out the figure (maybe do a custom paint job)

It could have been damaged in transit, but the thing is, the other figures were in flawless condition with no damage

Is this an actual variation? has anyone heard of a mustard vest baxter stockman before?

That just looks like bad sun damage. I'm willing to bet the chest yellowed but the arms didn't seeing as they're different plastics

Danakin 10-24-2012 07:08 PM

It might not even necessarily be sun damage as the card and bubble look to have decent color. Sometimes certain plastics just yellow naturally due to moisture/humidity and how they're stored over the years. I have an Arthur figure from Bandai's The Tick line that never saw the light of day, having been stored in my garage for 15+ years, and it has the same discoloration.

spiderpumpkin 10-24-2012 07:22 PM

The front of the package is faded and the bubble is starting to yellow. That vest is definitely discolored. The white on the arms is white paint while the vest is white plastic. That's why the white arms haven't discolored.

If you're dumb enough to fall for Footballorangeguys tricks, you got what you deserved.

savagejon123 10-24-2012 08:36 PM

I've seen baxter stockmans with varying color like that, but never that different.

ComicBookBoy 10-24-2012 08:52 PM

People try to pass figures with sun damage off as variations all the time on ebay. I've seen Storm troopers, Baxters Stockman, and many other figures with yellowing that the people say, "Yellow Variation Ultra Rare". The truth is, you just got ripped off.

nelodiavolo 10-24-2012 11:27 PM

Man, I'll have to agree with the others. I hope you didn't spend more than ten bucks on that figure.

That seller uses flashy words to make a sale...and it worked. Try putting that figure on Ebay with "sun damaged" in the title and see how many people are willing to buy it.

Its totally has that old school NES yellow syndrome.

Post your fraud check before you buy next time, cowabunga!

yeah....the thing is I also got a purple belt red S Slash from him, and the card and bubble were flawless...Also got a 'black boot' Scumbug..pretty sure that is a real variation as it looks like they forgot to paint it at the factory

But this Baxter Stockman I did pay around $118...I will ask him for a refund or negative

thanks for your help with the fraud check lol...what about those 'all rubber' characters he sells...are they real?

Jester 10-25-2012 02:19 AM

No. Only the heads were ever rubber....well save the Movie Star figures.

While true, footballorangeguy is a known scam artist.

Not everybody knows that, though.

the thing that alerted me was, the bubble was perfectly detached from the card, as if someone had done a really professional glue job, which then became undone during transportation

Also on his eyes, there are small specks of a different red colour, which again seems like a custom paint job...can anyone confirm the original model has these slightly brighter red specks on the eyes?

Dear god... I feel like there a very few figures even worth close to 100$ and we all know which those are.

dkram230 10-25-2012 10:21 AM

If this was a variant, he should have come complete with hot dog accessory. :D I always hate that when mustard drips on my shirt!

I doubt it..how come the plastic on the arms is untouched then? I just saw a few more of these on Google images, my guess is, it is an actual variation...even if it was sun damage, it means for this batch they used a slightly lower quality plastic (kinda like the rubber heads), which inturn makes it a variation

Both links went to the same picture. The arms are definitely yellowed as well, just not as much as the torso.

Fun fact of action figures and yellowing, like others have said, it's not just the sun that can yellow plastic, it can also be interactions with other plastics as they all break down. The Torsos are made of a harder type of plastic than the arms are and therefore may yellow at a different rate than the arms do. Also, action figures are typically assembled from large batches of parts so you may have a lower quality of plastic in one batch that has been mixed in with hundreds of other parts for the same figure. This is one of the reasons you can have figures like Storm Shadow from GI Joe who will have only half of a leg yellowed, while the rest of the figure is white (or only have half of a leg white while the rest is all yellow)

Regardless, these are just yellowed figures that should only be seen as a damaged toy, not a variation

1988, as long as you are happy that is all that counts.

must be legit, that post-it says "mega mega rare". Must be almost as rare as the 2012 left hand Foot Soldier variant.

Or the "Shredder's head is cocked slightly more to the right that the Shredder behind him on the peg" variant?

Jester 11-01-2012 08:18 PM

I was hoping someone would get that joke... :P

Because the arm sleeves are painted white and not white plastic.

Panda Khan 11-03-2012 08:44 PM

I bought a few figures from the guy. Didn't know he was shady when I did.

Tossled 11-03-2012 10:52 PM

I bought a couple animation cels a few years back from that guy. around $15 each. I was happy with my purchase. I didn't know he was such a scammer.
