April in the nick toon series

Is it me or does she seem...for lack of better word stuck up towards Donny ?

CyberCubed 11-02-2012 08:28 PM

She seems to be aware that Don has a crush on her. But rather than either reject him outright or make fun of him, she's just trying to brush it off.

Honestly, how would YOU feel if a creepy mutant Turtle wanted to get together with you while you were worrying about your kidnapped father?

Jephael 11-02-2012 08:56 PM

I take it you haven't had much experience with the female fans, CyberCubed.

Indeed, he has been hiding under a rock or something...

The Stryker 11-02-2012 09:08 PM

For all if Cybercubed's rambling he's actually fairly spot on here. How is she 'stuck up'? By not jumping his shell at the first opportunity?

Jephael 11-02-2012 09:11 PM

Perhaps I should've explained my little in-joke better. I wasn't picking on CyberCubed, I was pointing out the humerous irony of how a lot of nutty fangirls out there would kill to be in April's position.

How dare you Jeff...And who are you calling nutty? :P

Jephael 11-02-2012 09:19 PM

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular... though I was tempted to give an example earlier. Besides, I didn't mean any offense. Some of my closest friends in the fandom are fangirls.

NinjaMan 11-02-2012 09:26 PM

Hopefully Donnie won't get too crushed when Casey shows up.

I sense a love triangle coming up.

That is, if Casey is supposed to be around a similar age to them (not sure).

Casey will be 18.

It'll be interesting 'cause April will be underaged while Casey won't be.

Lisardo 11-03-2012 01:05 AM

I can see why she'd be weirded out by the whole thing. After all he's not exactly human. For the most part she's being very kind to Donny.

Btw, I gotta comment, I wonder where they got the whole Donny/April idea from...(these are fanarts, not mine mind you):

2k3 series...April and Donny both "brains"
http://raphaella.deviantart.com/art/...0068934&qo=376

Then we have the new 2k12 series, where they copied pretty much the same idea...hmmm

Donatello19 11-03-2012 07:21 AM

Maybe she just doesn't want to turn him down just yet because she knows he would be very sad. He did save her after all.

BubblyShell22 11-03-2012 07:52 AM

I don't think she's stuck up, but she knows that a relationship of the romantic variety won't work. I think she's trying to give subtle hints, but Don's not getting them yet. I think eventually she'll have to turn him down more forcefully, and I think she's reluctant to really do that.

CyberCubed 11-04-2012 12:36 AM

She's handled rather well, I think.

I wish we'd see her other family though.

From the 2003 series they hinted at it. Obviously the 2012 series expanded it a lot more.

April kisses Donatello in at least two episodes of the original cartoon too.

Yea but she also kissed Michaelangelo a couple times in the classic series.

that two-timing tease!

ImDoneItsOver 11-04-2012 01:03 PM

Its an interesting dynamic but I think it boils down to "What the heck! We have mutants living under our streets?" It will be fun to see how the "relationship" develops :)

sdp 11-04-2012 01:09 PM

I thought his crush would be a little more subtle and not he's all over her all the time, thought it'd be a few gags and that's it. Doesn't bother me a lot so far though.

As far as previous incarnations I actually saw a Donnie/April thing years ago, maybe not intentional but yeah in the OT, 2k3 and even TMNTII on the NES has a few scenes that made me like the pairing.

Rooish 11-04-2012 05:49 PM

Pretty spot-on, CyberCubed.

The timing is creepy more than anything. I do think the crush is a little overdone and serious. I don't see why April couldn't be attracted to Don if Don is attracted to her (since the Turtles are emotionally and intellectually the same as humans), but I'd prefer that neither was attracted to either.

Keep in mind this is something like what the turtles would look like in real life.

Rooish 11-04-2012 06:01 PM

Or like in the first movie? They're way less freakish in that.

Right, but why would a Turtle be attracted to April? Humans must look just as weird to the Turtles.

As someone who has grown up on Science Fiction in particular Star Trek I can't help but chuckle at posts like this.

People can be attracted to all manner of different looking "people" one of my favorite Trek races are the Cardassians which are a reptile humanoid species that have neck ridges and scales. Yet after a while you stop kind of realizing how different they look and instead tend to focus on what amazing beings they are :twink:

I don't know if parents would take kindly to bestiality though lol.

zkarlette 11-04-2012 07:38 PM

What about beauty and the beast? Or hellboy?

The Stryker 11-04-2012 07:42 PM

Oh jesus. Not this stupid can of worms again.

Also Beast was a dude.

We have argued this before on these forums, but I guess it comes down to if one considers the guys animals or humanoids.

Because I frankly don't think bestiality applies to them. :trazz:

The Stryker 11-04-2012 07:51 PM

Just....stop. Let's not start this whole thing AGAIN. "I'd f*ck a dog if it was as tall as me and talked!" great!

Now let's leave it at that.

Rooish 11-04-2012 08:31 PM

The SHOW opened this can of worms. It's kind of not irrelevant. Please stop coming onto topics and telling people to stop talking about what they want to. If you don't want to participate don't reply.

No, it didn't. Donnie has a crush, and I'm sure that's as far as it'll ever go. Kids wouldn't read more into it than that, and certainly not as much as the deviants on the internet.

Rooish 11-04-2012 08:37 PM

Right, well I didn't say anything about having sex with the Turtles, for one. I said the crush was a bit overdone but I didn't see why Don having a crush on April made any less sense than her returning his feelings. I'd rather not see any of it frankly, but I don't think that it's inconceivable, in this show's world, for a human to like a turtle if a turtle likes a human.

CyberCubed 11-04-2012 08:37 PM

One of the staff members at the conventions already said that Don and April will never seriously start dating or become an item.

Thank goodness for that.

BubblyShell22 11-05-2012 06:33 AM

I'm sure it'll be one-sided on his part. You can already tell that she doesn't return the feeling at all.

I personally never saw a Donny/April thing in the Fred Wolf series. Don't think she was that close with any of them, maybe Leo since he was more mature (and rescued her the most), but even that's debatable. The first time I saw the Donny/April thing was in the 4K series, and it definitely was hinted upon. As others have said tho, I'm a bit surprized he's doing more than 'hinting' in the Nick series. I almost view it as a Beauty and the Beast thing, where he never really thinks he'll be with her, but still finds joy being around her.

pannoni1 11-09-2012 01:15 PM

It seems like we'll have a more equal distribution of kidnappings the way that April has good self-defense skills (Martial arts basically teaches this). I would like her to take off her ponytail in an episode and have a different outfit much like we had in earlier series. Her voice is fine, being a little higher than any other version. Also check out "the 2012 April" thread for more discussion.

(never say xever)

I like that April is slowly but steadily getting her own personality.

Also notice that most of her exchanges are with Donnie. Cute!

I disagree, I think them becoming an item would be a great aspect to this series. The tone would fit.

In this ep, anyone else notice that she's starting to...well, I wouldn't call it 'flirting back', but...warm up a tiny bit?

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I mean April's a human and Donnie is a mutant turtle. Nuff said.

I agree, I don't want them becoming an item. Leave that to Casey.
