What's with the use of the 4Kids' Foot symbol on the banner on the top?

Plasticplayhouse 11-08-2012 10:00 PM

The RE Jetpack #2 cover is supposed to be "the first in a series of 4 covers that will interlock" but that cover is just the sketch version of RI B cover, so do you think that the RI B cover will also be " the first in a series of 4 covers that will interlock" or do you think that they will be different in future issues in order to make the people that want to have the 4 issue interlocking covers purchase through Jetpack comics?

Well they have used it already in the ongoing.
Issue #13:

Gee Santoluoco is so talented. I'm excited for this series.

Redrumh2o 11-08-2012 10:59 PM

Let me guess....the Jetpack ones will be $1k each :trolleye:

It's actually just the opposite. Jetpack #1 is the interlocking cover. Jetpack #2 is the sketch wraparound.

Turns 11-08-2012 11:09 PM

They sure made a lot of Kevin Eastman variants for this issue (not that I'm complaining). I have no idea which cover I'm going to get yet because they are all so excellent.

This may not be accurate but on the following webpage it says that both Jetpack #1 and Jetpack #2 are part one of interlocking covers.

"Cover RE Jetpack #2 – Jetpack Comics “Eastman Sketch Wraparound” Retailer Exclusive, limited to 1,000 copies; the first in a series of 4 covers that will interlock; available from Jetpack Comics"

zodiac brave 11-08-2012 11:15 PM

hell jeah! im so stoked for this story! i hope its EEEPIIIIIIIIIIC! so many covers! and they all look pretty sweet. gotta say the regular cover stirs up the most fanboy excitement in me, tho. that image is kinda iconic, imo.

LOL. That's my website. I totally didn't catch that. It's all fixed now...if you don't see it immediately try clearing your browser cache and see if that corrects it. Sorry about that.

Lampy 11-08-2012 11:29 PM

me too. it's difficult to pick which ONE cover is the best. so i think i'm compelled to get them all.

Who drew that? It has a distinctly Laird vibe to it. Or is that earlier Eastman?

yea it does. actually it looks a lot like kevin's art without all his "scratching" and shading.

Mayhem 11-09-2012 02:47 AM

Great covers... just trying to get them all is going to be a pain in the backside...

erfolgsdiplomat 11-09-2012 05:31 AM

oooooooohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! so it was Laird's! COOL! i wish they kept it with all its original detailing though. would've looked way better.

VaughnMichael 11-09-2012 09:17 AM

That's sort of not cool that someone else is taking credit for Lairds work.
Unless they are calling Eastman & Laird Dynamic Forces now lol:lol:
I do like the original much better though.
Very cool covers none the less. :)

Powder 11-09-2012 06:23 PM

Pete's is based off of a sketch Kevin did, so I'm assuming the cover in use here is his actual sketch. Just don't know why they called it that.

I agree. And the lasers kinda disrupt a lot of Raph. But it is still nice to see some good old Mirage stuff in current publications. I just hope they give credit if there is need for credit.

It's a retailer exclusive. Dynamic Forces is the retailer.

http://www.dynamicforces.com

Looks like it's actually by Kevin.

Powder 11-09-2012 11:28 PM

Yeah, by 'his actual sketch' I meant Kevins. Good to to get some clarification on the name, though.

Tinus 11-10-2012 11:29 AM

Great covers! Can't wait for the first issue to be released!

Turns 11-10-2012 01:56 PM

Its too bad they couldn't get Peter's permission to use the finished copy, the detail is awesome.

Venom 11-10-2012 03:13 PM

Wooow, cover overload again! :teek:

I'm totally loving the Dynamic Forces cover the best - it has a very classic Mirage feel to it (with good reason!).

...

Viacom owns the TMNT, they don't need to ask permission for anything.

So could they really use any of the TMNT art Laird has drawn in the past without his permission?

Published art, yes. That is why Laird got paid $60 million. Random doodles, no.

Metropoliskid41 11-12-2012 11:03 AM

Man all of those covers are gorgeous, its weird that there are to Retailer Incentive covers, but no 1:4 Cover B cover. I assume the RI covers are at a 1:10 & 1:25 rate, or is it higher?

I really wish they would have had Burnham tackle a cover, don't know if you guys have ever had the pleasure of meeting Erik or seen his art, but it's top notch, I've had the pleasure of meeting him quite a few times & have 14 or 15 sketches from him. I really dig his take on the Turtles & Splinter, I hope we get to see him tackle a cover or two before the series is done.

Yes, this is the typically the incentive assignment for the IDW RI covers.

sykosis 11-12-2012 12:10 PM

Why do the make blank covers?

Purely for sketching purposes. The idea is that you'd either buy the blank and have your favorite TMNT artist sketch on it or you'd buy it "pre-sketched" by Eastman (like the #1 RI D cover). Also, retailers sometimes make these RE blanks for upcoming in-store promotions like signings and planned artist visits.

dkram230 11-12-2012 12:34 PM

Those blank covers are such a dilemma for me. I'll probably never have the opportunity for an artist to sketch them, but I'm trying to collect all variants so I still want them. Yet, I find it so hard to justify paying premium prices for a blank cover (like the $100 JP Annuals). Hopefully, since the blank JP cover of SHOTFC is limited to 250 copies instead of just 100, it will at least be 1/2 the price of the annual. But even that still seems way too high for retail price.

The IDW series seems to be holding up pretty well in value while the franchise is hot right now. But I wonder if 10 years from now nobody will care anymore and variants like the Jetpacks will be struggeling to sell on eBay with a $3.00 BIN!
