Who Dies?? (If anyone?) (Possible Spoilers)

All,
New issue of Previews: for issue 11: "A solemn funeral marks the end of an era."

???????????????/

Kid Icarus 05-29-2003 09:20 PM

Me thinks April is going to die... . They've been setting it up for the past couple of issues.

darthsmozers 05-29-2003 09:29 PM

I was thinking that too. "End of an era" sounds like a big deal...

Sparvid 05-30-2003 01:09 AM

Of course that could be a little too obvious...

But then again, Peter did say that a "important" character will die, and since he really can't kill any of the Turtles, there' not that many to choose from... :|

Peanut 05-30-2003 01:52 AM

April should just pop her clogs and get it over with!

Stefano 05-30-2003 02:25 PM

how did you know that preview? where the shell did you get it from

GK Punk 05-30-2003 02:30 PM

He said he got it from Previews

Yeah, but that would be an all too obvious approach. Just because her life in in peril doesn't neccesarily means she's going to croak. Something can even happen to one of the others while she's still in her comatose state, and she'd wake up in time to hear the unfortunate news.

Kid Icarus 05-30-2003 10:09 PM

Could be Casey too. Or Splinter could die (he hasn't croaked since issue 6 right? it sucks not having a comic store that carrys them around here)... That would be pretty major. that would certianly be an end of an era since he's been their since the start.

Roseangelo 05-31-2003 08:39 AM

"the end of an era?"

Damn, better not be Splinter... (April is too obvious, IMO as well)

you said major

impetus 05-31-2003 10:15 AM

Flashback.... Vol 2.... #1....

:(

This possibility has been set up for a decade...

Nturtle 05-31-2003 12:37 PM

Yeah, it looks like April is going to die, but as already said it maybe too obvious.

If it is as important of a character as Laird said it could only really be her.

impetus 05-31-2003 12:44 PM

I talked to Peter Laird and he said *spoiler alert* that the Shredder was going to come back in Baxter's robotic form, making a Baxshredterbot. The TMNT kill it in the same issue. there you have it! :o I know, hard to believe, isn't it?

EDIT: If it was not already painfully obvious, I was only joking...

Nturtle 05-31-2003 01:35 PM

WHAT???!!!!? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

azure turtle 06-01-2003 02:04 PM

LOL!

Sadly, I think it's gonna be Splinter because of the first issue in volume 2... Hopefully, Laird will keep the old rat around just a bit longer. ;)

Raven 06-01-2003 02:07 PM

I think it will be me because im just like really imporant in the story :P

The Stryker 06-01-2003 02:36 PM

as its been said in vol.2 #1 it looks to have been set up

and it seems raph will be the killer if the dream would happen to come true

if thats the case i'll never look at raph the same way again

Cascadia 06-01-2003 02:48 PM

I think that it will either be April or Splinter that dies in the next issue. But I am leaning towards the obvious, which is April.

Tetsu Deinonychus 06-01-2003 04:12 PM

About the Vol. 2 opening: I don't see how any of the Turtles could EVER kill Splinter. I think those dreams were just that, dreams. I wish he wouldn't kill off any main charactors, though. But, I'd rather it be one of the Turtles than Splinter, April, or Casey.
I'd also like to bring-up that now that the TMNT have benn on good terms with most of the Foot since City at War. Maybe, if the Foot lend the Turtles some of their ressurection worms...

Roseangelo 06-03-2003 02:26 AM

The last thing I want is for Splinter or April to be replaced by worm look-a-likes. :P

The Stryker 06-03-2003 07:31 AM

that would just be creepy....ech!

Tetsu Deinonychus 06-03-2003 10:04 AM

I contacted Dan Berger and Peter Laird about whether the worms ressurect someone (as in same spirit brought back in new body) or simply clones them. Here is the E-Mail I sent dan Berger.

Quote:

Dear Mr. Berger,

I have a question about the original TMNT comic book that's VERY "out there". You might have to ask Peter Laird about this one. And, you might get an odd look.

I know the Shredder in the Leonardo special and "Return to New York" is physically a clone. But, is this clone the real Shredder resurrected or just a perfect copy? I mean, I know for all intents and purposes it's really Shredder. And, that to Eastman and Laird the whole "wormclone" thing was just a clever plot-device to use a villian that was killed off earlier. But, If one of the good-guys died and in the spirit-world was given the task of imprisoning Shredder's spirit in a magic bottle, so his ghost couldn't haunt the living world, would he find himself up against one Shredder ghost or two Shredder ghosts (one being the clone).

I'm sorry if this question is way too weird, but I like to think about weird things when I read comics.
I got back this:
Quote:

Howdy,

> I know the Shredder in the Leonardo special and "Return to New York"
> is physically a clone. But, is this clone the real Shredder
> resurrected or just a perfect copy?

Something I'll have to ask Peter about, which may take some time, as I
never know when I'm going to see him.

Thanks for writing!

Cheers!

Then this:
Quote:

Howdy,

I've forwarded your question to Peter Laird - I don't know if he'll
reply directly to you (he may have already) or not - but when I get an
answer I'll let you know.

Thanks for writing!

Cheers!

And finally this:
Quote:

Howdy,

Here's the word from Peter:

Very weird questions. I think the answer to the first question ("But,
is this clone the real Shredder resurrected or just a perfect copy?")
is (a) it's not a clone per se, (b) it depends on what your definition
of "resurrected" is, and (c) it is "just" a copy.

The answer to the second question ("But, If one of the good-guys died
and in the spirit-world was given the task of
imprisoning Shredder's spirit in a magic bottle, so his ghost couldn't
haunt the living world, would he find himself up against one Shredder
ghost or two Shredder ghosts (one being the clone)") is "Who the frag
knows?!" Seriously, I don't know. Again, it depends on how you define
spirit/soul/whatever. It's not something I've given a lot of thought to.

-- Pete
So, I guess nobody knows if the worms bring you back to life or just clone you really well.

Karpo_007 06-03-2003 10:46 AM

I think it's just a clone. And not perfect, since there were 3 earlier colnes in Return to NY. This one was just lose enough for the foot.

HorseTechie 06-03-2003 11:01 AM

*lol* I got a similiar "I hadn't put much thought into it" response when I asked Laird if the TMNT had really long lifespans, like Hobbits or something.

Which goes to show (again) how many of the fans know MORE about a fandom than the creators themselves. :P

Karpo_007 06-03-2003 11:03 AM

Or they think they know.

Peanut 06-03-2003 12:50 PM

 Exactly Karpo!

Caliosidhe 06-04-2003 01:00 AM

I've read that preview somewhere before..

And I believe I also read something else (Perhaps an interview with Peter? I know I probably won't be able to find it again.) Where he'd said that whoever died was going to stay dead instead of coming back to life 'comic book style'.

All I know is that I'm not going to want to know anything about it. Especially since it's going to be in a Mirage book (Unlike, say.. Image, which I am content to pretend never happened, in any sense ^^), which would make whoever's death sort of official.

splint 06-04-2003 11:28 PM

I would like to see either splinter or on the the trutles.

Why would you like one of the turtles to die? or Splinter? If it comes true your going to pay! :P

Nturtle 06-05-2003 09:41 AM

Yeah Splint, if its them, all the balme will be on you :P

Machias Banshee 06-05-2003 09:53 AM

If Splinter dies in the comics, I'm going to cry...

Karpo_007 06-05-2003 10:04 AM

Thats inevitable, but I doubt it's going to happen this soon. I have read 4 issues of volume 4 so far, and Splinter seems fine.

heretic888 06-05-2003 12:12 PM

I think it might be Casey.

Scenario: April is diagnosed to be 'dead', but its really a mistake or something. Casey, in grief, jumps out a window or something like that. Turns out April was okay, though, but CJ's still dead.

Creepy, huh?? Wonder if it'll happen....

Dane E5R 06-05-2003 12:15 PM

Ohhh, very Romeo and Juliet esque.

I thought of that once but ya that would be weird but would it matter
he really haent done much for a long time............dont hurt me

TheShredder 06-05-2003 12:29 PM

What about Shadow has anyone thought of her?

impetus 06-05-2003 02:22 PM

how about.... Jay, Metalhead or Steve? unlikely, but they are also considered "family" I would think.

I seriously doubt Casey would commit suidice, otherwise he would have done that after he lost his first wife. I could see him sacricficing himself for April though, like if he would somehow have the Nanobots attack him instead.
