Easter Egg Hunt

One of the more enjoyable aspects of this show is all the Easter Eggs in each episode. I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread where we can collect them.

So, if you find an Easter Egg, drop it in this basket.

Powder 11-23-2012 09:00 PM

Been meaning to make this thread myself, actually, I as I noticed this Mutagen Man cameo the other day...
The comic book on the right-hand side, bottom corner. There's no doubt about it, it's Mutagen Man.

Obvious references to past TMNT incarnations:

1. Mike's 80's toon face was shown when he joked about getting a tattoo on his face.

2. Mikey saying, "That was us!" during the origin tale in episode 1 was a throwback to his Movie 1 line.

3. Don asking, "Is that the Shredder?" followed by Raph's, "Well its definitely A Shredder," felt like a 2k3 reference of there being multiple Shredders.

4. The Kraang have their name inspired by Krang himself.

You're an idiot.

The Mirage Vol I, Issue I pose at the very end of the opening theme.

While this was already mentioned, I figured I throw an egg myself:

Wolf Hotel a nod to Fred Wolf, an executive producer to the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Irishmile 11-23-2012 10:11 PM

I love the idea of this thread... Some of these are not so much easter eggs and just bits of trivia.

Ciro has said the guy on the pizza box is modeled after his father who owned and operated a pizza shop when he was growing up.

Another use of that comic

I know this one is an obvious one... But here it is compared to its comic version

The Shop owner that April tricks information out of by pretending to be undercover is actually located just a block away from her father's shop... because we can see it on the next street over.

if I remember correctly in one of the episodes we can see Shredder looking out his window and there seems to be buildings with the same decorative windows as the building as April's neighborhood.. indicating Shredder is probably operating nearby.

NES inspired controller

Movie poster inspired by two different Star Trek films.. ST one and search for Spock.

Jester 11-23-2012 10:12 PM

Don't forget Mr. Murakami. :D

And a possible reference to Prof. Honeycutt.

You know good and well them referring to Shredder as, "a" Shredder, when that has never been done before in any other series, felt like a reference. There probably won't be any other Shredders in the Nick show, so it felt like a reference to me.

Cure 11-23-2012 11:08 PM

He meant a shredder referring to all the metal and blades he was wearing. He who shreds. Stop reaching.

renegadez21 11-23-2012 11:09 PM

to me in episode 8 or 9 in chris and xever hideout,it looked like a statue of the ancient one from 2k3

Good eye, Jester.

CyberCubed 11-23-2012 11:37 PM

April wearing a yellow shirt is probably a nod to the OT, while the red hair is due to it being her standard hair color in animation now.

Just be thankful April never had curly black hair like in the early mirage comics in the shows.

Jester 11-23-2012 11:42 PM

Leo wears a blue bandana.

Mikey likes pizza.

Donnie is like smart and stuff.

Raph is voiced by Sean Astin....wait...

CyberCubed 11-23-2012 11:44 PM

They also mentioned Baxter worked in the TCRI building. Hopefully that wasn't just a throwaway line.

Would love to see the Utroms in the TCRI building and then have them battle the Kraang.

Jester 11-23-2012 11:47 PM

Cubed....you do know what a "Easter egg" is, right?

Powder 11-24-2012 12:22 AM

Cube stop being a dummy. This is for subtle nods, not recurring themes.

CyberCubed 11-24-2012 12:24 AM

The TCRI name-dropping could be nothing more than an Easter egg. It depends if the writers actually do anything with it.

Topsu 11-24-2012 03:52 AM

Mutated pigeon's name was Pete, like Mikeys pet pigeon in 1987 series. (episode: What's Michelangelo good for)

HerpDerp 11-24-2012 05:46 AM

Mikey humming the OT theme in "I Think His Name Is Baxter Stockman".

The T-pod ringtone is the OT theme.

Isn't Mr. Murakami made up for this show?

But it's a reference to Murakami Wolf Swenson, the production company for the '87 series.

I gotta ask, could Pete also be a subtle nod to Don's pigeon puppet from the Mirage books and the 4kids series?

Mr.Sheldon 11-24-2012 10:14 PM

Best thread after the gif thread.

Jephael 11-25-2012 01:19 PM

I'm surpised nobody's yet to mention Wolf Hotel where the Turtles had their first battle with Shredder, a clever nod to Fred Wolf!

Im surprised too.. you would think it would be in post #6 in this thread at least. :trazz::tlol:

Jephael 11-25-2012 01:33 PM

Oh silly me!

From "I think his name is Baxter Stockman":
When the Mouser is scaning for the Turtles you can see the original FW Turtles

I agree, while I understand it's an Easter Egg, I would have never seen something as small as that on the screen.

Bjarni 11-28-2012 12:16 AM

My favorite nods thus far have been Mr. Murakami and Wolf Hotel.

According to wikipedia, April's dad is named Kirby..
and I feel he kinda looks like Peter Laird...

Or, Ron Howard.

Zarana-X 11-28-2012 01:11 PM

The "Mad Wax" record store (I've seen it in at least 2 episodes) is a reference to Mad Max. It uses the same font as the Movie Poster and promo stuff (videos, posters, album) from the first movie.

ToTheNines 11-28-2012 04:53 PM

The guys did a Fall of the Foot Clan cover pose in "New Friend, Old Enemy".

Another one from Metalhead:
When April is showing the guys the Video of one of the Kraang you can see original Prodctionartwork on Aprils Desktop in the background:

Powder 12-01-2012 02:33 PM

Are we counting easter eggs based out of other series'? I know Mikey did some Kamen Rider moves in one episode, for example.
